Demigods

Demigods
Chapter 52

"Who are you?"

All members of the D'hunter immediately pointed their pistols at the source of the sound.

There was a middle-aged man in a black suit standing there.

"Well? He is, sir, mayor" muttered Viro.

"What?"

They all put down their guns.

"You've infiltrated my house, are you robbers?"

"Ah, no sir. We're not robbers. We're just angg-"

"We're just hiding" Lio interrupted before Viro finished his sentence.

"Huh?"

"Yes, you found your house very quiet, so we thought it would be safe to hide here" Lio continued, lowering the cloth covering her face.

"Ooh, so it is. Yeah, that's right. The situation outside is very dangerous, let's go in" said the man and made the members of the D'hunter silent. "No need to bother, let's go in. Huh ... I'm so glad to see you guys. At least, I can still see a living human being. With this kind of situation, I feel like I'm living alone"

The D'hunters looked at each other. They were shocked by the reaction of this mayor. Even more surprising, didn't Lio say that here was a den of the undead? Isn't this where the Devil butterfly hides? Why is the mayor still alive?

"Are you guys going to stand there? Get in and close the door. I don't want the bodies to come in here and attack us" the man continued.

Lio also hinted to one of them to close the door.

"Oh, alright" Viro hurriedly closed the door.

"Come, come. You guys need to rest, right?" continued the man while walking inside.

"Isn't this so weird?" meaning of the gazes of the D'hunter members.

"Follow the game. Don't tell me who we really are, I'll detect where the devil is. You guys, try to distract him" whispered Lio very softly.

They all nodded in understanding and then followed Lio who walked in.

"Mari, please. I'll have the waiters take a drink" said the man, directing them to sit at the dinner table. "Let's not hesitate, please sit" he continued while sitting on the dining table chair.

They all sat at the dining table following Lio. But when approaching the dining table Ardan felt something strange. He also looked down at the table. There was a crack under the table that surrounded him. He wanted to tell the other members, but was afraid to make the mayor suspicious.

"Pardon us for trespassing into your home sir" Kenan said.

"Ah, no problem. In a situation like this, I can understand it" said the man, named Burhan.

"But why are you still here? Not going out of town?" viro.

"Going out is dangerous. There are so many undead out there"

"Ah, you're right too"

Lio fell silent, concentrating his sense of smell to look for the existence of the demon who was hiding.

"Hem, where are you really hiding? It's so tight to hide, but you won't be able to escape my smell"

Ardan is busy knocking his feet under the table.

A few moments later, a waiter came with a few drinks. They all glanced at the service, thinking that the servant might be the undead. But they were wrong, the servant was also an ordinary human.

"Please drink while waiting for food to be served"

Ardan started glancing at one of his friends to let them know that there was something under that table. He glanced at Luna, but Luna did not know what Ardan meant. He turned to look at Kenan.

"What do you mean?" the meaning of Kenan's eyes.

"There's something down here, we have to be careful" Ardan replied as he pointed downwards.

Kenan glanced down his feet. He didn't find anything strange there. Under the dining table there is only a dark red carpet that looks very expensive. But he found nothing strange.

"Hem, actually. Where are you guys from? I'm sure you're not citizens of Regoon, are you?" continued Mr. Burhan.

"Yes, we're from out of town. Actually it's on its way. But did not expect there will be a disaster in this city" said Kenan.

"Huh, this is all because of that wayward child" he said, bowing his head. "I don't know why he contracted such a deadly disease that made all my citizens become like this" he added, lamenting his fate.

"But ... Isn't this weird? How did he get sick?" added Viro.

"I don't know why either. Maybe he was trapped by one of the people who was hostile to me"

Lio who from earlier was silent now put both his hands on the table.

"really? Then who's the one who dared to trap you up like this?" said Lio.

"I don't know either"

"Then why are you hiding instead of finding a way to keep your people from getting the virus?"

"That's because they're no longer human. Then where am I supposed to find a way if I can't get out of here?"

"Oh, really? It's not that you can't, but you don't want to" Lio said meaningfully.

The mayor was silent for a while.

"Whatchu mean? I've been trying to get out of this place. But they're so many, how can I go?"

"Right, you can't just walk out of here. Because of your greed. You made them like this'"

"I don't understand what you mean" said the mayor, whose eyes turned sharply.

"Still not understanding what I mean? You made your own son turn into a monster. And you spread the virus to rule this world. You also control the undead, soon they'll spread out of Regoon City and you can control the world in your hands. What an incredible ambition for a small mayor like you" Lio said.

"Heh, hahahaha" the middle-aged man joked. "Hahaha, young man. Who the hell are you? Why do you know so much about this schemer of mine?"

"That's not important. The most important thing now is, tell me where he is"

"Him?"

Lio quickly stood up and pointed his dagger at the mayor's neck.

"Don't pretend anymore. I know, you must have hidden it very safely. It's great, my smell just can't track it"

"You ... Who the hell are you?"

"I told you it wasn't important. Quickly tell me where he is"

The D'hunters stood up and pointed their guns at the man.

"Well, alright" he murmured as he stood up and raised his hand. He walked back and then grinned. "Hihihi, you'll know where he is, but you can't do anything either. After knowing his whereabouts, you will be his prey" the man laughed as he pressed a remote in his hand.

It felt like there was a tremor under their feet, then the floor on the dining table dropped down bringing the members of D'hunter and Lio into the hole.

"Hihi, good-bye"
