Cursed Night

Cursed Night
CHAPTER (29): Last Request

"Why are you here?"

The question that came out of Arya's mouth seemed to mock her existence in the church, but Arya did not mean that at all, she was only confused when she saw Tere in this church.

"I tell you that the church is the house of God, not the house of Arya Panggalila. So anyone can come here, and anyway why can you be in the house of God. You are a sinful man, unworthy of entering into the sanctuary of the house of God. Do not defile the house of the Lord with your sins Aryan!"

Arya closed her eyes and clenched her hands as the emotions within her asking were vented upon hearing Tere's extremely insulting remark to her. A ridiculing slanted smile adorned Tere's lips upon seeing Arya's reaction.

"Why? You mad at me? Oh or do you want to hit me? So hit me, hit me now and show God you always hurt me and you're the one who ruined my life!"

Arya wants to shout back to Tere that it was not he who hurt Tere, but Tere himself who hurt himself because he did not accept the destiny created by God. But Arya is always weak when dealing with women in front of her, women who managed to melt her heart and bring her heart so that she could not hurt Tere because it would hurt herself.

"I am a sinful human being, I just want to ask God for forgiveness and ask God to give you all the happiness in this world...

Arya's teary eyes and the gentle voice of the man, were able to make Tere feel like the most evil woman in the World. Especially when Arya's rough hands gently rubbed her hair, as if she was a fragile precious diamond.

"If necessary, God take all the happiness that is destined for me, to be happiness for you."

Tears unconsciously trickled back on Tere's cheeks, Tere looked into Arya's eyes, trying to find a lie in those eyes but the honesty he got.

Tere clenched his hands as the feeling of curse that people call love tried to break down the door of defense in his heart. Tere tried to expel that feeling in his heart then stared intently at Arya.

"You are a very good liar. Stop lying to me and to yourself, I'm sure in your heart you want me to suffer for the rest of my life, because I've always insulted you."

Arya smiled faintly at Tere's prejudices that seemed to never disappear.

"Have, we should not argue we better pray to God, to forgive our sins."

Arya pulled Tere's hand, about to step into the Church but stopped when she felt that Tere was not following her steps. Tere remained silent there, and looked at Arya as well as the cross emblem in front of her in turn.

Arya replied to Tere with raised eyebrows, confused that Tere did not want to enter the church. Though Arya knew that Tere was always diligent in going to church both Sunday and ordinary day, Tere's belief in God exceeded anyone Arya had ever known.

But that was before he came into the life full of Tere's goodness. Arya realizes that she only had a bad influence on Tere, the woman never again sets foot in the church. But Arya also realized that the presence of Tere gave light in his life, Arya who did not believe in the existence of God began to believe and practice his worship.

Tere is the light in Aryan's dark life.

"God loves Tere's people, he's like the first person in our lives. No matter how much we hurt his feelings, he will forgive us if we truly repent."

"But that sin will continue to exist in my life."

"You can take away that sin in your life, as long as you as a human being really do it."

"Then you and this child disappear in my life because you are my greatest sin!"

"All right, you just wait for me there. Do you want to pray to me?"

Tere was silent for a while, his tongue was too faint to say his prayers to Arya that he would rather shake his head, then look at Arya's burly back which slowly disappeared at the entrance of the church.

"Arya wait!"

Arya stopped stepping and turned to Tere, staring confusedly at Tere who was just silent not like he was thinking hard between saying it or not until Tere had a voice.

"May I ask one promise from you?"

"Promise?"

"Yes, just one but you can't deny it, this church bears witness to the honesty of your promise."

Somehow Arya felt so heavy to nod or accept Tere's request, she felt it had something to do with their separation but she could not see Tere's clear face, hoping for her.

Arya nods making Tere smile very widely, Arya prepares herself to hear Tere's request.

"After this child is born, get out of my life. Don't let me see your face after I give birth, whatever happens don't ever hang by my side again, don't ever look back, take this baby and stay as far away as you can."

Arya closed her eyes, trying to hold back her tears from flowing down her cheeks. Then he opened his eyes and looked gently at Tere, before nodding to accept Tere's request. Arya immediately left Tere who stood silently staring at Arya who walked into the church.
