The Fortress that is Beginning to Collapse

Magic from fire, water and other natural elements was launched towards the fortress of Barium City. The powerful vibration can be felt by – people when magic – hit the fortress, let alone – people who were at that time on top of the fortress or room in the fortress. In addition to feeling the intense vibration, their ears also felt pain hearing the sound of an explosion that deafened the ears. Unfortunately, despite having been showered with various long-range magic attacks, the fortress still remained solid.

This incident invited almost all civilians after hearing the explosion and tremors that resembled the earthquake. However, before they could witness what was going on, the soldiers spread out to one by one the house. It happened after a brief announcement from King Arthur through voice control magic that made his voice able to spread felt throughout the entire area of Barium City. All the civilians were immediately evacuated to the back of the palace in the form of a large field and close enough to one of the gates as an escape route, if at any time something unexpected happened.

“Damn this kid!!! She turned out to be serious with her letter.” King Arthur muttered softly, regretting for ignoring the war declaration. He now felt stressed and worried when reinforcements from Ferrum City had just arrived after Barium City had become a rubble of buildings only. Simply put, they only had 500 troops in total, especially he did not have a special relationship with other guilds, so he had to spend a huge fee to get help from them. His current hope was that the fortress could hold off the Veroan army for at least some time until he had the help of adventurer guilds, hunter guilds, and mercenary guilds, or at least one of them.

One by one the negotiators were demoted to carry out their duties. The General of War was immediately ordered to prepare troops and the right strategy to deal with the coming storm. As for the dove that had been an empty hope for King Arthur, the recipient of the letter never knew what it was and only the dove perched on the window, for Veroa cut off the paper tie at the foot of the bird after seeing the dove fly from the palace, and he had guessed what the letter contained.

The fortress began to have cracks, even though only as big as a strand of hair, but the road will begin to open slowly from now on. This fortress was very sturdy with the help of strengthening and hardening magic, so that whether how many hundred long-range magic attacks from various elements hit it, only now there were fine cracks. No one is aware of this, except Veroa who has keen senses.

Tonight until the early hours of the morning, the – people who were assigned to destroy the fortress had made several turns. The fortress for several hours constantly received damage which over time increasingly visible damage. In the first few hours, the attackers were frustrated that their magic attack was not working, but now they saw cracks that began to be seen from the distance they were currently standing, he said, especially in this darkness. To be sure, the cracks were getting bigger and some rocks and cement started to collapse.

“Kukira, we did this in vain, but..” one of the adventurers who got a part to destroy the fortress that initially felt frustrated, but, now back excited after seeing the results are quite satisfactory.

“Yes, I think so too, whereas this is still included in the calculation of Lord Kota” someone who is not too far away heard someone muttering like that, he responded.

In this case, the morale of the troops on the Veroan side began to increase again, while the morale of the soldiers in Barium City dropped drastically and his body trembled imagining this city could not survive the enemy attack. Moreover, those who were on top of the fortress, witnessed firsthand the onslaught and saw the cracks on the walls of the fort getting bigger. They must have felt very anxious, hoping for help to come.

In the end, before the fort was about to collapse, the soldiers and workers who were there immediately shunned the area that was expected to endanger lives. Seeing that there were troops on the streets neatly lined up, they were asked to join in. As for the workers, they were guided by a few soldiers to go to the refugee camp.

“How is the situation?” He asked one of the scouts who had previously been ordered to observe the situation ahead with anxious expectation, yet he still maintained his authority.

“The temple has almost collapsed, Your Majesty. In a moment, it is undeniable that we must fight and make this city bathed in blood..” The scout gave a report with quite a quivering tone and his forehead was also in cold sweat given the large number of sorcerers from the enemy forces with quite high levels. He also explained the approximate number and informed the rank of the sorcerer which he said exceeded the sorcerers in this city, or even if the sorcerers in this kingdom were merged, it was said that, it will only rival it a little if the two clash. Not to mention, he had also not been able to identify the tiers of his soul masters.

King Arthur was very surprised to hear the report. He believes the affidavit was signed on behalf of a person and not a kingdom. There is no way to get an army that can rival the strength of his royal forces when combined. “What are your observations so convincing? What percent is the accuracy?” King Arthur tried to remain calm, there was a possibility that the enemy force was still weaker or could be stronger than his current report, he thought.

“I believe 92% accurate, Your Majesty” he said resignedly, he also realized how dangerous the situation is facing this Barium City.

The sigh sounded quite long, King Arthur really regretted his actions in the past which resulted in Barium City facing the current situation. “What should I do now?” His authority slightly faded with the formation of wrinkles on his forehead, he was not aware so dizzy looking for a solution to solve this problem, so that Barium City did not collapse.

“We wait for the castle to be destroyed, for the witches to stop firing long-range magic attacks. Then, General Willford will follow me to negotiate. Hopefully, there is still room for it” at the end of his sentence, he murmured softly, hoping the path he would take this time is right.

As King Arthur was getting ready to negotiate after his fortress collapsed, his heart trembled. The sound of the crumbling fortress was heard throughout the city, the fortress that had existed for decades was only a name.

    “I'm sorry, ancestor.”.
