Book One: Alpha World
Epsu 26. Border Zone

I raised my sword high as the other zombies approached. More than a hundred zombies swarmed us. Their creepy faces with maggots scattered around their necks and hands made us almost nauseous and turned away.

"Don't forget to cover your noses with this cloth, their smell is too foul!" Sian gave a piece of black cloth as a nose cover as well as a mouth on all of us. The stench of the zombies was already smelled even though their distance to us was still tens of meters.

The hundred zombies were approaching quickly. No one can stop them. We are ready in full force. We put up the horses as hard as we can. I also held the sword I carried with me as tightly as possible. Each of us has chosen a target when the zombie is ten meters away from us.

But we have not had time to attack, suddenly Asuza shot fire out of his mouth with the largest scale possible, the enormous fire burned all the zombies that approached. The zombie line in the front row immediately ran in an indiscriminate direction with a fiery body. Most of the zombies in front of them were on fire.

"Aaaaarrrrgggghhh....."

"Aaaaarrgh..."

They shouted as loudly as possible while trying to dispel the flames on their bodies and rombeng clothes. The middle and back rows of confusion took steps and could only be silent. Their faces became even scarier for a few seconds. Unexpectedly their growls accompanied by angry faces suddenly turned into sinister smiles. They looked at us with their mouths open. Their saliva looked blackish when it was seen as the incoming lightning light illuminated their bodies.

The vanguard that had now collapsed and was still groaning in pain could not stop their smile even for a minute. Nearly fifties of zombies were already lying down with charred bodies. But their faces stared fiercely at us without the slightest fear. We looked at them with our hearts beating. Our breathing was disordered and our hands trembled holding weapons.

"Ghrrraaaa...!"

They shouted simultaneously while opening their mouths as wide as possible with blood as well as black saliva coming out simultaneously from their mouths. We started to think negatively when some of the mountains and hills behind them shook. Our mouths were locked with bodies that were about to collapse. The zombie mountain and hill exploded. Their bodies are scattered everywhere. But unlike the previous zombie who had to rise from his sleep. While in the air the zombies had already opened their eyes and mouths as wide as possible. We stared at the sky in front of us with a cheer.

All these zombies could number in the thousands. I could only see them like I was seeing a hail of rocks falling down. My face almost looked scared, but suddenly when I saw the clock in my hand that gave a small hologram that read 'Five percent more to go up to level five'. I-i understand.

I closed my eyes deeply. Without me noticing the friends I didn't realize turned to me and then followed my movements, drew as deep a breath as possible, then returned our focus. When I opened my eyes, I was already brave. Somehow the other.

My sword was all my might towards the zombie that was right in front of me. The flying zombie fell right in front of us. It's no less than a meter.

Other zombies keep fighting back. We're all surrounded in a sea of zombies. Immediately I slashed at some zombies in front of me in an uncertain direction. Some of my slashes only bore wounds to their stomachs, chests or hands. Another small part that managed to slash the neck and make the zombies stop moving. Slowly but surely the zombies in front of me are reduced. When the zombies in front of me are no longer able to reach with my sword I try to regulate my breath and when they approach I immediately slash back as hard as I can. It happened repeatedly several times. For half an hour we stayed in a chaotic position. We made a circle with Gina and Rheda in the middle.

"Make a circular row, it can hold the zombies in front of us!!" Gina who turned out to be in the middle of our protection suddenly shouted. The information ball in his hand displayed a bluish hologram displaying various information. His hand skillfully shifted the hologram deftly. We follow the direction of the form of information and direction given by Gina. Like a buffalo poked in his nose we move.

"Lian!! Back off, balance your location with others!!" Gina screamed loudly with eyes staring at me. I hope Gina doesn't yell like this often tomorrow because it's so deafening for us. A moment later, the tail of my eyes stared at the light on his body. Suddenly his body grew brighter when I didn't see him. The light covered his entire body. Gina was raised a few meters with a confused face.

'Krakerk...' A cracking sound was heard from Gina's body. Gina panicked and shouted for help. Our concentration of defeating the zombies in front of us was interrupted from his shout.

"You're leveling up Gina, don't yell that way!" Rais shouted in the midst of the enemy's siege. His hand was still busy swinging the bluish ice spear in his hand, the weapon Master Kiseti had given him.

"really?" Gina asked in a downtone.

'Gina Syakilla, you managed to rise to level five!' The sound from Gina's watch echoed very loudly.

A moment later the light on Gina's body faded and slowly she descended into the middle of the arena. Our fight with this sea of zombies continues again. Although the wounds we received were mostly scratches or small bites, they were very painful. At first my friends and I thought about the risk of us turning into zombies. But after receiving some injuries, we felt no other effects than pain.

After an hour passed our bodies were exhausted, when only dozens of zombies we could kill. Understandably because our stamina is still low and easily tired. Rheda decides to use a spell to create a protective dome to hold off the remaining zombies. We rested for a moment while staring around the dome which is covered with piles of zombies that are still alive and who do not move.

We must always be vigilant considering that this zombie could have destroyed the protective dome that Rheda made. But it turns out the dome was not scratched though semili. Rheda really made this protective dome very strong.

But it turns out that the danger does not come from the sea of zombies, but from other things that we are not aware of.
