Jakarta. At 17:30 p.m.
After returning from Ancol 1 hour ago, I finally arrived at the Afrah residence in the beautiful sustainable residential area of North Jakarta.
Soon it will be dusk because during the trip we took earlier, our car had experienced traffic jams on the road. But I have no problem with that than being stuck with Afrah.
Afrah really makes me try hard to survive as a normal and mature man. She's a beauty. Her body always smells good when near me. And he was always nice to me. Of course the impact I almost fell in charm.
I had to instill in me that I was playing a puzzle. Don't let my heart fall on him. He's Reva. Not Afrah. And you guys also know that I didn't love Reva since she was my best friend.
Father and Mother turned out to be standing in front of the porch of the house. I got out of the car with Afrah. A warm and friendly smile greeted us.
"Father's Salamualaikum Mother!" greetings from Afrah with sumringah.
"Wa'alaikumussalam's chat. Thank God you have arrived. How was the walk today?" ask the Mother with a warm smile.
"Alhamdulillah good Bun. Mas Fikri took me to Dufan. We rode up to Lala's prick and stared at the beauty of God's creation above several meters."
The voice of Dad laughing crisply sounded. Don't forget I kissed the back of his hand followed by kissing the back of Mother's hand.
"Come on Afrah, Fikri. We better get in. It's dusk. Don't forget to get ready for the magrib prayer."
I just nodded and obeyed. We also entered the house immediately. With attention Afrah pulled my wrist towards her room. Arriving there I was stunned to see the contents of his room were all colored. Especially his bed.
Is Afrah joking? Sleeping with a badcover bearing a unicorn horse decked in a rainbow like a child?
"Mass?"
I flinched as Afrah pulled my wrist to sit on the edge of the bed. Afrah turned to grab a glass and fill the water from the dispenser in her room.
"It's Mas. Drink. I must be thirsty."
I nodded and immediately accepted it. I drank the water fresh. After that Afrah rubbed on the corner of my lips with her finger as if my lips were a straw after drinking. But Afrah does, she likes my attention and unfortunately I like her attitude.
Suddenly Afrah was in front of me. Unexpectedly Afrah took off my pentofel and socks and placed them on the corner shoe rack of her room. Afrah opened the door of her closet. Then grab a white wardrobe towards me.
"Bath bath yes. But sorry Afrah, the bathroom is outside the room."
"Yes it's okay. I understand because this house is a simple minimalist type."
Afrah nodded. Then I stood up. I approached him and opened his veil. I was surprised, both of his cheeks were red. I cupped her cheeks in a crunch and kissed her forehead.
"Thank you, baby. I'll take a shower."
"Massssss.."
"What's wrong?"
"Don't say the word darling."
I chuckle amusedly. I know he's shy. But I didn't care about it and soon passed leaving her to take a bath.
🥀🥀🥀🥀
At 22:00 p.m. Late at night made me and Mr. Sharif more familiar while drinking a cup of warm tea.
Tonight was a nice night of conversation with him. I learned a lot with my father-in-law, one of which was about the restaurant business. As for Afrah and Mommy, they were already inside the room. Maybe you are asleep now.
"Son Fikri?"
"Yes Dad?"
"Dad to ask you. Are you happy with Afrah?"
I'm speechless. Then I smiled thinly. Why suddenly my heart was beating so hard.
"Alhamdulillah. I'm unhappy. My daughter is so kind and considerate of me."
Thas right. Even though she's Reva and I don't love her, that's why I'm comfortable with her. Comfort as a husband. Not the friend that you used to be.
"Alhamdulillah then. I'm just worried that Afrah can't serve you completely, son. Moreover, he's acting a little like a child."
"I mean Dad?" I frowned. "He doesn't look like that, trust me."
Mr. Syarif just smiled thinly and sipped his cup of tea and then put it back on the table. So did I who drank my cup of tea.
"But without him knowing it, 10 years ago he had lived in this city."
I'm stunned. I almost choked. And again, I started finding puzzle pieces from Afrah. I put down my teacup and cleared my throat as if I didn't understand anything.
"I never thought that Afrah had lived in this city."
"He's been here, Nak Fikri. Work at the company you're leading now."
"What?" My throat suddenly choked. Relax Fikri. Calm. Don't let you get caught. "I didn't think Afrah had ever worked in my place. Means indirectly I have met Afrah even though at that time did not know him huh?"
"Maybe. These are all bitter memories of Father and Mother. Exactly 10 years ago."
"What bitter memories?"
I sucked his body comfortably. His gaze suddenly turned sad.
"Afrah used to study at the University of Samarinda. There he wanders. Father and Mother have warned to stay in college in Aceh son. But Afrah was very stubborn. Worse still over there, he's without a mahram. No brothers and sisters."
I'm speechless. I did not expect that the nature of Afrah was so. It really looks like Reva. Isn't he Reva?
"He lives in a boarding house. During his college years, Mom and Dad always prayed to God that he would be fine and immediately realize his mistake."
Mr. Syarif rubbed his tired face. Then he sat up straight and bowed his face.
"Then?"
Honestly speaking. I'm more and more interested in the current story of Afrah.
"A crash happened at 16:00 p.m. We got word from the police. At that time, Mom and Dad were shocked. We went to Jakarta and Afrah was very critical. His face was completely broken and he was in a coma for 6 months."
Then Mr. Sharif looked at me seriously again.
"Because of that there are some stitch scars on the part of his body that said Afrah is still imprinted even though it has been a long time. You've probably seen it before, son."
I'm speechless. I thought I'd seen her after our first night. I haven't actually seen it yet and I haven't seen it.
"After the incident, Afrah suffered amnesia. He did not even recognize Father and Mother.
When he regained consciousness, Dad took him back to Samarinda. Dad took him to places he frequented including his campus."
"Dad remembers taking Afrah to her campus during the day, Dad saw one of the schoolgirls celebrating graduation. The student was with one of the men who looked like lecturers. We were in the car. Dad asked Afrah if she knew them. Unfortunately not."
"Father sure there are many memories stored for Afrah. But God tested Dad as his parents to remain patient. Afrah doesn't remember it at all."
Suddenly my heart was broken just to listen to him. My mother-in-law's father was so devastated. He said Afrah was stubborn and I couldn't rule out that Reva was stubborn.
"After the incident, we were traumatized son. We agreed to keep Afrah as good as possible. We brought him back to Aceh. During that time we tried to patiently restore Afrah in her memory. It took many years until his consciousness finally recovered with the therapy he did in the hospital. Little by little he began to remember it, although not entirely. Disilain, maybe it's best for Afrah that she's not stubborn and obedient to our advice not to get out of the city at will."
Maybe it makes little sense what Dad said especially Afrah there said he knew Kak Arvino who had been his lecturer.
"You don't wonder why Afrah looks like a child who has just learned a lot. He doesn't recognize a lot of advanced technology. But there is something new about him.. He likes bright colors. He also likes rainbows. That's all."
"Dad ask for help with you, Fikri. May you remain patient while guiding Afrah. I am sure you are the right person from God to accompany the life of Afrah."
"Yes Dad. I will try to be patient in the face of Afrah. Can I ask Dad one thing?"
"What is that son?"
I was silent for a moment. I just kept talking about it from now on.
"The incident that happened in Afrah..When did it happen?"
"10 years ago. 5 October 2011. Accident because he was driving his friend's car. That's the information I received from the police."
My throat was stuck without Dad noticing. Suddenly Dad stood up.
"It's night. We'd better take a break."
I just nodded and let Dad go towards his room. After everything was silent and silent, I suddenly contacted someone. A man whose status is the elder sister of the late Devika.
"Hello?"
"Halo Asalamualaikum Devian's. Sorry to interrupt.. Can I ask you something with sister?"
"Wa'alaikumussalam's chat. Hi Fik. What was? Does important? I happen to be on night duty at the hospital. What do you want to ask?"
"Em like this. I want to ask you. It's about Devika."
Silent. No sound at all. The sound of breaths was heard from across the call.
"What about?"
"I'm sorry Brother. I just wanted to ask..when did Devika die from an accident back then? I mean, the date and the month."
"Why are you asking this, Fik? Have you not forgotten it?"
I'm speechless. How could I ever forget her let alone my first love Devika? Actually I remember. But I want to make sure it's not wrong again.
"I just wanted to ask. No other meaning."
"Alright, the incident of my sister's death coincided when I was training in the city of Jakarta 10 years ago. October 5, 2011."
Then I was shocked. My hands tremble. My body's squeezing.
"O-okay. Thank you." I said shaking. "Asalamualaikum Sis."
"Wa'alaikumussalam."
Call disconnected. My heart's claustrophobic. Anger began to run through my heart. Said Dad, Afrah accident on October 5, 2011. Devika was killed on the same date.
Not wrong anymore. The one in the room right now is Reva who turned physical into Afrah. The puzzle pieces have already begun to form in half.
And I can't wait to see the results even though I'm willing to wait and have to survive being trapped in the charm of Afrah that is beautiful and like the attention with me.
