Chapter 09: Travel Friends

I held onto White's restraint rope while Carol sat on it.

"Heh, so Alice wants to go to the witch country."

On the way I had heard the name of the country because maybe I could find a magic that could bring me back to my home world someday.

Putting aside what I wanted now it was my turn to ask about the country Carol wanted to visit, from her name I had shot her a little.

"It's filled only by women who have lost their husbands and children, it's a country that places women's rights above all else."

"A country devoted to mothers?"

"True, before my husband had died and we had no children, I thought it was a suitable place to live my life until old age."

"Isn't Carol still too young? Carol could try to find a partner back."

About 30 people were deployed but it all ended in vain, the monsters they fought were too strong and could not be stopped even if the number was only one.

It resembled a lion body with two heads in addition so it was all three heads. The tail of the snake has bat wings on the back.

This creature is called a chimera, the chimera itself is born from dark magic hence it is very rare to find it anywhere else.

He was able to spit out poisonous fumes from his tail as well as flames from each of his heads.

I was thinking if my wind magic could defeat the fire, it would be easier if I had a rifle to avoid close combat.

My dagger is indeed strong I think it is also enough if it attacks him from the front, I imagine a lot of simulations inside my head to be able to defeat him.

"If the situation worsens Carol, you can escape."

"Where could I possibly do it, no matter what happens I will wait. If we have to die, we both die."

After the man's departure we began to move back, we accidentally went to the location where the guards were killed but looked for another alternative way. Fighting is only an option if we meet him, otherwise it will be much better for us.

We rested sitting on a rock and eating bread and warm milk.

"What a hell, can bread be this delicious?" ask Carol.

"I don't really know but this bread I got comes from a crazy place about bread."

"Crazy about bread?" Carol repeated the words with a confused face.

"They hate rice even they make houses out of bread too."

"What kind of country is that?"

It's surprising if someone hears it but it's more surprising to see it in person. That's what happened to me too.

If you come to that place, you will end up accidentally eating a street property or even someone's house accidentally.

Everything feels good.

After resting we continued our journey until suddenly the birds simultaneously flew into the air, I could conclude that something bad was going to happen in the near future to us. There was no need to wait long for the hunch to become real.

I patted White until she ran away with Carol holding on to her.

When they were away a burst of fire shot from the front, I used wind magic to block it, even though I escaped, the area around me was now burning.

The smoke billowing into the air forced me to cough a little. From the front a figure of a sprayer appeared and without asking again everyone would know that the chimera was the mastermind of all this, he roared before running up by jumping on me.

I rolled over to avoid it before turning back to keep my distance, lucky that Carol had already escaped so it was clear that this creature could not see it and was only targeting me as the main target.

I prepared a dagger in my hand, staring intently at the chimera while waiting for her to move, after a momentary silence she lunged at me.

He moved quickly, his jump high enough to dodge my slash attack. Not staying silent I also stepped forward. If I turn around to escape this creature will obviously pounce on me without hesitation.

I jumped onto one of his heads after dodging his burst of flames, one of my slashes giving a cut on his face. Before he counter-attacked I had already dodged to switch attacks from the side.
