A Friend from Malaysia

A Friend from Malaysia
Hafiz's Story

Ilham and Yola arrived at the Nirwan family home after a few minutes drive from the police station.

"Abang, what exactly was Melisa's letter about?" ask Yola. He was still curious about the letter that Melisa had mentioned earlier.

"I don't think about it, Yola!" reply Ilham lazily while getting out of the car.

Yola got out of the car and followed with Ilham in the back.

"meaning?" ask Yola again.

"Sir you need to think about that, hmm?"

"Loh why? Obviously donk I thought of that. Melisa said that the letter was about Mr. Y who had a grudge against our family, the Gunawan family and the Nirwan family. So I should also know donk," Yola insisted.

Inspiration head bobbles.

"Well thought out, honey. Let your brother take care of that" replied Inspiration. "Trust with Brother!"

"Yes, I believe. But at least tell me exactly what letter Melisa is referring to," whine Yola.

They now reached the terrace and Ilham pushed the bell home, waiting for the housekeeper to open the door for them both.

"Later brother must know," replied Ilham lightly.

"Why not now?" yola urged.

"Yelins ..." Inspiration began to be impatient with Yola's attitude.

But before Ilham uttered words that might make Yola sulk from being scolded, it was fortunate that the door of the house was opened by Hafiz so as to distract Yola from the letter that made her curious.

"Hafiz???" muttered Yola was a little surprised because the one who opened the door turned out not to be the household assistant of the Nirwan family, but Hafiz.

Inspiration to step in first.

"You're doing ape here, Fatty?!" ask Ilham.

The relationship between Ilham and Hafiz although still not as before but Ilham always tried to make the atmosphere between them so as not to be awkward. One of them is by calling Hafiz with a nickname that contains the joke.

"Eape? I can't come here?" Hafiz asked a little cynically.

Inspiration immediately threw his body on the sofa.

"You want to stay here forever is not good," replied Ilham in a very tired tone. It was not his body that was tired at this moment. Except his heart and mind.

"Which name, Ndut?" ask Yola.

"The kitchen is there" replied Hafiz.

"Oh .." replied Yola without intending to meet Mama Ratih and Zubaidah who were cooking together in the kitchen.

Yola did not want to disturb the two people who were different from each other. The relationship between Mama Ratih and Mama Zubaedah is improving day by day. Mama Ratih decided temporarily to accompany Yola in Kuala Lumpur as well as Mamah Zubaidah who was like her original intention to accompany Yola and take care of her daughter-in-law until giving birth later. He wanted to atone for the old sin, the sin of abandoning his pregnant daughter-in-law to give birth to his beloved grandson Ammar.

"Abang, let's answer! What letter does Melisa mean? Come on, tell me too, okay? Who knew from the letter we could meet a clue about what he had said? Mon... montha Sonmang? The somnang?" Yola recalled her meeting with Melisa earlier.

If he didn't remember Melisa wrongly, he mentioned something that sounded like that.

Inspiration shook his head to hear the persistence of his wife to find out the information that sounded foreign in their ears. Somnang Month? Whatisit?

Apparently Ilham and Yola's conversation was heard by Hafiz. Hafiz was also unexpectedly interested in the topic.

"Wait a sec! Did the two of you say that? The mon-tha? Som-nang?" ask Hafiz to know. His memory suddenly detected both words were familiar and had been heard by his ears.

"Eape? You know something about ape that's Montha Somnang?" tanya Ilham was still in a slightly lazy and tired tone.

Honestly, he didn't expect anything from Hafiz. Including to get information about Montha Somnang from the former fat man.

Hafiz nodded but with a slightly doubtful face. Then he shook his head afterwards.

"Come on, I'm not sure. But it seems that if I don't remember wrong I've heard Atok mention something similar or the same as you two said. Mon .. tha ... Som-nang," Hafiz tried to spell out each syllable of those words and then shook his head. "See, I'm not sure it's the same thing Atok said."

Ilham and Yola looked at each other later.

"Ape you said, Hafiz? What, what, what the hell did you say about Monta Somnang? That's what?" tanya Ilham was impatient.

Hafiz shook his head again while trying to recall. Then he closed his eyes while imagining Atok Yahya saying those words before he found him dead a short while later.

"Mon-tha, Som-nang" spelled Hafiz while mimicking Atok Yahya's lip in his memory.

"Dische!!! You said! Ape this thing? Ape montha somnang? That's ape?" urge Inspiration with questions.

Hafiz opened his closed eyelids.

"Rubber! Atok did say that word," said Hafiz while nodding confidently. "So what's that Montha Somnang?" Hafiz asked back.

Ilham patted his eel annoyed.

"You're Ndut, don't play me. You said it yourself. Atok mention that. Ape mean? Ape that's Montha Somnang?" ask Ilham again impatiently.

Hafiz shrugged his shoulders and still muttered the word "montha somnang" how many times.

"So, I don't know either. I only heard the word mentioned Atok a few times before he died," said Hafiz Lirih.

"meaning?"

Then Hafiz's short story tells what happened shortly before Hafiz found the atok in a state of death covered by a pillow. Not to forget Hafiz told Ilham what became the will of the Atok. Including the message of the Atok so that Hafiz and Ilham unite to defend the company N-one.

"Moontha Somnang's kate is still on the ship" Hafiz said.

Ilham and Yola frowned.

"Well, that means that? " ask Ilham.

Yola followed along nodding her sign agreeing to the question.

Hafiz nodded again.

"I don't know either. But Atok said it juge up to twice. After that Atok had time to shout and speak either poade ready like a loyal person, 'do not disturb my family!', like that," said Hafiz imitating the words of the Atok in accordance with what he remembered.

Ilham and Yola were getting curious.

"Keep, kenape you just said it now?" tanya Ilham, considering that Atok died for almost 2 weeks.

Hafiz took a deep breath.

"I don't think that's important information. I thought Atok was just delirious. And about defending N-one, I was lazy to know. I don't want people to think that I want to juge Atok Kat N-one's legacy," said Hafiz.
