First Meeting

Regina had prepared a presentation slide for her meeting today with one of the Gavels Group representatives. He has prepared mentally to be able to present his company as best as possible. In his mind was just how to make the people of Gavels believe in his company, so that he could become an investor and help the small company. There are actually doubts Regina has in her heart, she doubts that she can bring the company her father left behind to success. He does not have the expertise as a businessman let alone a company leader.

Regina's interest has always been as a designer, not as a policyholder. After graduating from design, she plans to continue her S2 studies in Paris precisely at the International Fashion Academy (IFA). But his dream was buried since his father died suddenly of a heart attack. Now he had to replace his father as a leader in the company. He had to take care of a lot of paperwork, cooperation, overseeing finances, looking for investors, and a lot of things that were not related to the fashion design world he had always wanted.

"Mom Regina?" A Gavels employee.

"Yes, I." Answer Regina quickly.

"Please enter the meeting room and prepare the presentation."

Regina then followed behind the employee into one of the Gavels meeting rooms. The room is not too big, there is a circular meeting table and several chairs. Regina believes this is a presentation room used for small companies that have high hopes of getting investment from Gavels. Just like his company. Small and unconvincing.

The employee swiftly helped Regina prepare her presentation. He had also prepared some drinks and snacks in the room.

"I'm sorry, I'm telling you that Mr. Bayu can't see Ms. Regina today for pitching. He has already submitted today's meeting to his assistant. If you don't mind meeting his representatives, I'll tell you right away."

"Oh ngga. I don't mind anybody."

"OKAY. Please wait a minute." The employee exited the meeting room. Regina is alone in the room. Only with a soft AC sound and the sound of his breathing hunting because of nervousness.

"Gi, can you ask for help?" Saying Bayu on the phone.

"What's up, Om?" Reply Gian.

"Today Om there's the same pitching of one of the fashion companies, but Om still meets the same Indan Group. Alot is the discussion. I used to talk about the second quarter investment fund yesterday."

"Keep the Eka?"

"For the same here. Can't go back to his office. Please meet with the company representative first. Most recent comments. The company is a bit confused. Not sure if he'll pass the pitching. You don't have any more work, do you?"

"There was. But it's okay, it can be postponed for a while."

Gian then rushed out of his room for a meeting with the company Bayu was telling. Outside his room, Meisya one of Bayu's subordinates was talking to his secretary.

"Sir, I got a message from Mr. Bayu to contact the father, because he and his assistant are still meeting with Indan Group and can not meet guests for pitching.." Meisya.

"Yes, I've been contacted by Om Bayu."

"Good, Sir. The guest was already waiting in meeting room 3 on the 6th floor."

"OKAY. Any documents on this company?"

"This, Sir. Please." Meisya handed over the files regarding the company her boss would meet with.

He then walked towards the elevator to the 6th floor, meeting representatives of fashion company Edmode who were already waiting for him.

Regina several times saw herself reflected, tidied her hair and set her expression so as not to look too nervous. But failed. She's really nervous. His heart beats on his neck. All kinds of prayers he had already recited. Maybe so nervous he had time to say a prayer to eat in his heart.

The door of the room opened. A man enters the room. His clothes were neat with a black shirt and gray pants with matching color blazers. Regina analyzed the man from the clothes he was wearing. Another thing noticed by Regina is of course her face, a high and straight nose line, round eyes not too narrow, thin lips, and white skin. One would probably think this man at least had an East Asian bloodline. His slender body was very fitting with the clothes he was wearing. This man at least gave the impression, young, rich, professional and handsome.

Instead, Gian also analyzed the guests who came to his office. Regina. The woman he met as a whole looks attractive, beautiful round eyes, sharp nose, white skin, and body posture that is not too high. Her appearance clearly hinted she was very knowledgeable about fashion. Beige colored pantsuit, neat hair, and natural makeup.

"Corn, Sir. I'm Regina from Edmode." Sapa Regina smiled kindly while shaking Gian's hand.

"Yes, noon." Reply Gian with a smile. "Please start the presentation" continued Gian while sitting in the chair.

Regina managed her position in Gian. Then start the presentation.

"Thank you for the opportunity to invite us to present our company. We sincerely hope to establish good cooperation with Gavels Group. Edmode is a fashion company founded in 2010. My father is the founder of Edmode, I am currently the one who replaced him to lead the company."

"We are focused on the manufacture of women's clothing. Currently we have 65 expert workforce for cutting and stitching parts. We are a labor-intensive industry that absorbs the workforce of women, especially the lower-class economic IRT. We have a vision to empower women and produce fast fashion by prioritizing environmental sustainability. We control waste with careful calculation so that there is not a high enough loss."

Regina continues to explain the many advantages and ways of working in the company she leads. Gian read the company documents Meisya gave while occasionally nodding at Regina's explanation. "Okay, that's enough. Thank you for your great exploration." Gian said in the middle of Regina's presentation. He did not want to hear the woman's explanation for too long. As much as he explains. His company will not be in the category worthy of Gavels.

"I've read the documents and analysis for your company. I know you're still leading this company, and the performance reports during your time as CEO are not satisfactory. I'd like to know what are your constraints in setting up a company?"

"Of course, there are many things that become our obstacles in carrying out company operations. It's the only financial problem we're dealing with."

"I understand these constraints, based on financial statements for the last 2 years your company position is quite difficult. We don't actually mind providing financial support to any growing company. But what I love, I do not see a mature business strategy in your company. I see you don't seem to understand the role of a company leader yet. Some of the business decisions you make, don't help the company thrive."

Hearing Gian's words on target makes Regina lose hope and embarrassed. He knew that he was incompetent, but hearing it directly from others was uncomfortable.

"What we want to make sure is that we invest funds into the right company with good fundamentals, management and a clear business strategy. I'm feeling like I can't see that in your company, especially after you've served as CEO replacing a deceased member of your family." Gian is after casting Regina. Inwardly, Gian lamented that Regina had to pitch with him today. If the one he encountered was Om Bayu, perhaps he would not receive a bitter pill like this. But the bitter pill is medicine, which should make it clear that leading a company is not just the transfer of power to the rightful family members. But choose a competent and compatible person for the position.

Gian has seen cases like this dozens of times. Companies that come to him to ask for investment funds, but have poor management and leadership. Companies are led by people who don't even know how to do business. They were placed in that position only continuing the position of their parents only.

"We always give the company the opportunity to improve itself and re-submit a proposal for cooperation, with a record of fundamental problems that I mentioned earlier can be overcome."

Gian saw Regina silently pecking. His face looked pale and sad. But there was nothing he could do, the Regina company - as Om Bayu said, was ambiradul. Gian will not want to cooperate and place investment carelessly.

"Is there anything you want to say?" Ask Gian. "If not I'll end the meeting-"
