We Are Not Alone We Are Social Creatures
Living With Mental Steel

Life is winding. Is there a person's life that is always smooth and fine? Even great and successful people have passed the low point in their lives. Like Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba Group, who went through dozens of failures until finally succeeding in pursuing the dream of becoming a big entrepreneur.

To achieve great things, you have to crawl from the bottom and go through various challenges. To be able to pursue dreams and be a successful person, you will be hit with pressure and stress so you need a strong mentality to be able to move forward and abstain from retreat. Weak mentality will only prevent you from thinking positively and you will be stuck with a mindset that dwarfs yourself.

Whatever you face in life, a strong mentality is the solution. The Huffington Post reports that Thomas Edison was mentally tested when his factory burned down in 1914. The incident destroyed his prototype, and the loss reached US$23 million. “All our mistakes have been burned out. Now we can start again from the beginning.” Edison's response in the face of the disaster.

Edison's reaction was a testament to the mental strength that saw opportunity and took a reaction to a problem.

Mental strength can be possessed by practicing. There are a number of habits that we can do to have a strong mentality. Some of them are:

1. Remember God

Mentally strong if you feel you have support. The strongest support in the world is God. So, remember God as often as possible so that you are mentally strong. Believing that God will not give trials beyond human ability.

2. Organize emotions

You will not be able to have a strong mentality without the ability to understand and control negative emotions in yourself. Having emotional intelligence or EQ is mandatory to build a strong mental. You can practice by opening your mind, learning to express what you feel and think, recognizing and managing the emotions of others, and introspection.

3. Ignore the talk of others

The person who says you are not talented, will not succeed and cannot change is the one who does not want to see you become great. Focus on the process of chasing your dreams and make the ridicule of others as your motivation to be more successful.

4. Assemble self-capability

Sharpen your abilities and add skills in yourself will make you more confident and make you mentally stronger. You will feel valuable with the knowledge you have. Hone your skills by attending workshops or trainings, online courses or as easy as having a hobby that is outside of your daily routine.

5. Facing people who ‘sulit’

Facing people who are difficult to discuss or others becomes your moment to train mentally. You are required to control well the interaction with the person so that it can make the atmosphere better. You are also required to approach rationally so as not to play with emotions or baper.

6. Adaptation with change

7. Accept failure

Think of failure as a process to success. There is no one who does not fail, and when you fail, you are not alone. Be grateful when you fail, because then you are given the opportunity to try again from the beginning in a better way or method.

8. Routine exercise

The results of a study released by the Eastern Ontario Research Institute say that people who exercise twice a week in 10 weeks will improve their abilities not only physically, but also intellectually and socially.

9. Use social media wisely

It is undeniable, social media contributes to mental health issues that are being talked about lately. Social media provides an opportunity for people to curate their lives and only show a picture of a beautiful and perfect life. This has an impact on jealousy and the feeling of being left behind for the person who sees it. Limit your social media use every day. Try experimenting with not using social media for a few weeks.

10. Activity outside the room

A study published by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science showed that walking in the open for 90 minutes was shown to decrease brain activity in the subgenual prefrontal cortex. This section is active when you are thinking negatively. Do outdoor activities such as walking in a city park, trekking, mountaineering, or as simple as sitting in the yard while reading a book.

11. Appreciate yourself

One of the causes of mental weakness is when you compare yourself to others. Reflect yourself and see the potential you can develop. Are you good at writing songs? Focus on that power and develop it into a piece you can be proud of. That way you have one thing to be proud of yourself.

12. Forget the past and don't worry about the future

Live in the present and forget the past so you don't get caught up in regret or sadness. Focus on today and your plan ahead. Don't worry too much about your future fate because the future has not yet arrived. Live today and enjoy.

13. Consultation with a psychologist or psychiatrist

There is no harm in consulting and asking for help with psychologists to help change your weak mentality. Your mental health is part of maintaining a healthy body.
