Chapter 11: Bali

Garuda Airlines plane boarded by Alin landed at Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. Alin had not set foot on this Island of Gods for long. The last time around two years ago, when accompanying Ragnala met his ‘online’ girlfriend who is known through social media. Kenneth Denallie, a British bule who accidentally came to Indonesia to look for his biological mother.

Unfortunately, Kenneth only used Ragnala. Almost a week they traveled around Bali exactly like a detective, but the results were nil. Kenneth returns to his country empty-handed and leaves Ragnala crying bombay on the shores of Kuta Beach. Kenneth thanked Ragnala for his help while giving him a wedding invitation. It turned out that the cursed bule already had a fiance, and the date of his wedding had been set long before getting to know Ragnala.

After getting off the plane, Alin turned on his phone. He remembered what Eijaz had said, that the man had prepared a messenger to pick Alin up upon his arrival at the airport. Eijaz also gave the man his mobile number. Alin dialed the phone number he had saved earlier before leaving for the airport.

“Hello, Arik Bli! I'm Alin,”.

“Halo, yes Miss Alin. I'm already outside, I brought a paper with the name Miss so it's easy to find.”

“Oh, okay. I just got off the plane, soon I'm out.”

Arriving outside, Alin dived to the right and left looking for people who displayed papers bearing his name. Not long after, he found a man waving the paper. Alin immediately approached him.

“Bli Arik?” hello Alin

“Nona Alin, yes?” Alin nodded.

“Mari Miss, my car is parked not far from here. Let me just bring the suitcase,” said Bli Arik with a thick Balinese accent.

“Thank you.”

Alin sat himself in the back seat of the car that Bli Arik had prepared. He looked around with a smile. He had not known the word holiday for a long time. It feels like the right time to release fatigue from all daily routines, although his arrival to Bali this time is not purely because of a vacation.

“I transfer directly to hotel yes, Non?” bli Arik asked his mouth.

“Ehm Bli, can you take me to the hospital first?” Alin wanted to confirm Beryl's condition first.

“Good, Miss!” bli Arik replied without a rebuttal.

Alin opened his window slightly, letting the cold in. Breathing in the air of Bali makes his imagination soaring to the shore, waiting for the sunrise, enjoying the waves and staring at the sunset. True beauty that can be forgotten.

The island of Bali is filled with foreign tourists who mill around everywhere. Sometimes Alin feels like a foreigner vacationing in his own country, so many foreign tourists visit Bali.

Alin closed his eyes, for a moment his brain traveling around Bali. Browse the beach, culinary Balinese food, go to silverware, shop at Jogger and many more on the list.

“It's arrived, Non!”

“Hah?” Bli Arik surprised Alin who was engrossed with his dream.

“About ya?” Alin circulated the view to the lobby of the international standard hospital.

“Bli, does Bli Arik know where Mr Beryl was treated?”

“Know me in the inpatient room VVIP Miss.”

“Ehm, okay later I ask again at his customer service.”

“I'm waiting in the parking lot huh, Miss. Later call it if it is finished,” Alin assies and then get out of the car.

Customer service hospital is located not far from the entrance of the lobby, Alin walked over.

“Good morning,” a reply to one of the officers who greeted him with a smile.

“Again! Is there anything we can help you with?” ask the officer kindly and politely.

“I want to visit a patient on behalf of Mr. Beryl Monza, he is treated in which room?”

“Mr Beryl Monza? For a moment, I saw first in our computer data.”

Alin glanced all over the room, he remembered he had once been to this hospital to attend a seminar.

“The patient on behalf of Mr. Beryliano Monza was admitted to the seventh-floor VVIP inpatient room number 707,” the officer showed Alin the directions to Beryl's room quite clearly. After saying thank you, Alin passed by following the instructions he had been given.

The elevator door opened right on the seventh floor of the inpatient building, her footsteps were shaken, doubts began to spread. Alin paused in front of room 707. I am re-examining whether what he is doing is right. Is he ready to face what will happen after opening the door of the room.

Close both eyes, take a long breath and exhale slowly. Doubt that flashes without knowing yourself. Still clearly remembered the words of his father that love should be fought for, although he himself was not sure whether this felt really love or not. However, if he never tried, then there was never an answer to his hanging feelings.

“Come on Lin, you can definitely!” the urge encourages itself. His voice sounded clear but firm. His hand began to grab the room door handle.

Alin pressed the handle and pushed the door slowly. Beryl lay weakly on her bed with her right hand attached to an infusion hose. Alin walked half-ranked because he did not want to wake Beryl up. The man looks fragile. A few thin wrinkles adorned his handsome face.

The sound of the door creaking open shocked Alin. A nurse came in to check on Beryl.

“Sorry, who are you?” the nurse asked Alin.

“Sa-I'm her relative,” says Alin.

“Oh, thank goodness that way!” Alin was stunned by the nurse's words.

“Means Sister?”

“I think Mr. Beryl has no family to take care of him, because I have not seen a single one to accompany him as long as he is cared for here.”

“In addition to the fatigue factor, stomach acid also increased causing acute gastritis. The doctor has given some medicine to treat it. Mr. Beryl's condition has begun to improve. Today we will do some checks to confirm his condition. If all results are good, Mr. Beryl can go home.”

Alin mangosteen listening to the nurse's explanation. When he heard the word hull, he shuddered in horror. Recall the condition of his mother when he was taken to the hospital. At that time his mother complained of pain in her heart, then fainted because she could not bear the pain.

“I'm sorry Miss, later in the afternoon the Doctor will check again. Miss can ask more clearly. Excuse me,” the nurse left Alin after checking Beryl's condition and recording the necessary medical data.

Alin pulled out a folding chair and placed it on the side of Beryl's bed. He sat on the chair and looked at Beryl. Feelings of compassion infiltrate the heart. How could the heir to a conglomerate family like Beryl lie alone in a hospital VVIP room without a single waiter. Could not Eijaz send a messenger to guard his master. Beryl must have had many men, it was easy for her to order them to stand guard at the door of the room.

Beryl squirmed, her body feeling stiff. Nearly three days of being bedridden in a hospital bed was excruciating. How amazed he saw the figure of Alin when he opened his eyes. Beryl gasped, patting her cheek trying to regain her consciousness. This isn't a dream. Alin sat looking at her with the smile she missed.

“Alin..,” muttered.

“Ka-you're here?” Beryl still couldn't believe what she saw.

The man moved his body to sit leaning. Alin helped him. After Beryl was comfortable with her sitting position, Alin returned to the chair that had been occupied since.

“Why are you here?” lick Beryl.

“Are you not happy to see me here?”

“Not so. I just didn't expect it,” Beryl swallowed her saliva soaking her dry esophagus.

“You drink?” without waiting for Beryl's answer, Alin took a glass of water arranged on the bedside nightstand and thrust right in front of Beryl's mouth.

Beryl gulped down the water that Alin was holding in her glass. His eyes could not escape the girl. Every movement Alin noticed, hoping this was not a dream.

“You have not answered my question,” Beryl is still curious about the arrival of Alin who was completely unexpected by him. Just as he was about to give up on love, suddenly the adored girl appeared uninvited.

“I only met a man who fled to Japan, disappeared without news, then got lost on the island of the gods and is now lying alone in the hospital,” Alin said.

“Is that a compliment?” Beryl smiled wryly.

“Do you think?” Alin knitted his two eyebrows. Beryl was unable to speak, there were no perfectly arranged sentences in her brain. He then fell silent.

“I came here to restore this,” Alin took out a small blue velvet box from his bag.

Beryl looked at the box. His heart felt falling. His heart is racing. All of a sudden the body was cold hot when Alin grumbled the box in his hand. Beryl couldn't see the box. It was better for him to remain unconscious than to bear an inner wound like this again. This is what he fears. He chose to leave for Japan to avoid this happening. But now he can't run anymore.

“You haven't heard my answer yet right?” alin's question was like an arrow that shot right at the target and tore it apart.

“Whatever your answer is, you should not have to return it. I will accept whatever your decision is. Think of it as a gift,” Beryl was about to hand back to Alin, but the girl held him back.

“Do you not want to open it?”

“No need,” Beryl shook her head.

“Why?”

“Yes, because I already know the answer.”

“Really? Are you sure? I haven't even said anything yet,” Alin is pressing Beryl even more.

“On Kika's birthday back then, I saw you not wearing it. And that means ...,”

“So that's why you decided to go to Japan without talking to me?” cut Alin.

“Hupfft, actually I will still go to Japan even if you wear the ring. There's a problem with my project there. Just seeing you not wearing it makes me speed up my departure. At that time I felt that there was nothing more we needed to talk about, and I knew enough myself.”

“Hmm, okay. I think everything's clear. I don't want to think of it as a gift, just keep the box because I don't need it. I'm leaving, hope it heals soon!” Alin got up from his seat and left leaving Beryl who was still sitting stunned.

Before reaching the door, Alin turned around. He took off the scarf from earlier covering his neckline.

“You better open the box again, afraid something is missing!” alin said as he held something hanging from the necklace around his neck.

Beryl was still silent, fumbling every word that came from Alin's mouth. He gaped as soon as he saw something Alin was holding around his neck, the shiny little thing looked familiar. He turned his attention to the box that was in the palm of his hand, then immediately opened it. The box is empty! Beryl realized too late. The ring was hanging on the necklace that Alin was wearing. When his sane mind returned, Alin was already out of the inpatient room he occupied.

“So in-dia, Alin wait! Alin! Sister!” he shouted overdraft. He was about to get out of bed and run after Alin, but the still-sticking infusion hose blocked his movement.

While Alin who heard Beryl's scream from behind the door, giggled happily. He also prevented nurses who wanted to enter Beryl's room because they heard the cries of patients.

“Sus, later if the results of the examination have come out please contact me yes!” Alin wrote down his cell phone number on a piece of paper.

“But it was Mr. Beryl ..”

“He is fine. I'll be back later, I'll drop it first!”

Alin calls Bli Arik and waits for him in the lobby. Fortunately, the hotel booked by Eijaz is not too far from the hospital. So after storing her suitcase, eating and bathing, Alin would return to the hospital again to look after her big baby.
