Azka: Defeat is the Beginning

Despite failing to become the village chief, Azka's influence was still considerable in Randu Ginting. His father was still a landlord and he became a herd owner who inherited his grandfather. He influenced the citizens who worked on his farm to oppose all the programs and policies of Bima, the new house. He still could not accept his defeat. He wanted Bima to be destroyed for trying to seize what should be his.

Meeting the target of 100 working days, Bima focused on improving the agricultural system that is the focus of the majority of residents in his village. During this time, the Wardoyo family controlled vital parts of the agricultural system there. Starting from agricultural tools such as plough machines, rotavators, harvesting machines to irrigation systems or reservoir arrangements even grooves and priority sales of agricultural products were under the control of the Wardoyo family.

Other smallholders can only resign to work on their land traditionally, wait their turn to get fertilizer and water from the rest of the land owned by the Wardoyo family and sell their crops at low prices to them as well. It is very troublesome for residents to sell directly to the subdistrict or district because in addition to limited access to transportation vehicles, the amount of their harvest is also fairly minimal to be sold to further places. The Wardoyolah family who hold their crops then sell them at higher prices in subdistrict or district markets.

Such was the agricultural system formed under the leadership of Subani Wardoyo. Many small farmers complain about the difficulties they experience, but instead of getting attention and help, they are complicated by access because they are considered to deviate from government rules.

Therefore, in his political campaign, Bima promised the creation of a new village government that pro the interests of the small people, especially the peasantry. As the first step he will take in running the first 100 days of government, Bima will open access to agricultural tools that will be brought from neighboring villages and also fertilizer and irrigation.

Not only reluctant to cooperate with Bima, but also, Azka also helped his father provoke the citizens to refuse the use of heavy equipment on the grounds of higher costs and fears that the tools would replace human labor and eliminate the source of income of the farm laborers.

Subani and Azka's behavior made Bima furious. But he realized he could not be lured deeper. Bima patiently faced protests from the citizens. He takes many approaches to give citizens an understanding of the policies he takes. Every night Bima often visited the community association and followed the various activities of the citizens to get closer and see firsthand the obstacles experienced by the residents. He chose a more humane persuasive way of dealing with the resistance of Azka and Pak Subani, his father.

Meanwhile, although so far the various efforts made against Bima have not been fruitful, Azka remains confident that he will be able to defeat Bima. He should be able to take the most valuable of Bima today, namely Rere, wife of Bima who is also the woman of his dreams since childhood. 'Once clutching a paddle, two three islands terlanpaui.' thought Azka.

He begins to devise a sinister plan to get Rere.
