In the silence that filled the room, Yuki allowed herself to be immersed in deep reflection. His mind raged with countless questions, presenting inevitable doubts.
Amidst the darkness, Yuki's soft voice echoed, reflecting the confusion that crept within her. "Why don't feelings of regret ambush me?" his his hiss was full of humility, while his gaze was fixed on the dim sparkle in the corner of the room. "It should be that the act of killing brings inevitable guilt, shouldn't it?"
The question hung in the air, slipping into the silence of his inn room which felt increasingly heavy. Yuki is caught in shackling doubt, while a dim light keeps repeating its play in the recesses of his mind. Is this the effect of my Avatar body, Zephyr? Is that what keeps me from feeling regret and fear?
Inner Yuki was raging with tickling questions. What does it mean if guilt and fear have been removed from her? Does this mean he has lost some of his humanity? Or, perhaps, something deeper and more complex is going on?
Without a clear answer, Yuki pondered in the haunting darkness, letting his doubts fill the vast spaces of his mind. Behind that doubt, there is a growing desire, a desire to understand its true nature, to discover the identity hidden behind a terrible mystery.
In the all-encompassing silence, Yuki stepped cautiously towards the mirror that was emitting a dim light on the wall. The faint light encompassed the room, creating a mysterious atmosphere that enveloped his every move. With a sharp gaze, he stared at the reflection of himself that was emanated in the mirror.
In front of him, was the figure of an old man with an age of about 50 years and more. His white hair was neatly unraveled, while his beard gave off an impression of authority. His face looked resolute, dignified and his red eyes exuded an intimidating ferocity.
Looking at the picture of her drastically changed self, Yuki was reminded of the past when in her previous life it was just a 14-year-old student boy. He is remembered for the long journey that has taken him to this world, where everything changed completely.
Yuki said the words in a heavy voice, but it was clearly heard in the silence that surrounded the room. "It's been a week since I've been in this world, but when I see my new face, I'm still not used to it" she whispered.
"In this change, will I lose my old self? Will I continue to be caught up in this role I never imagined?" thought Yuki doubtfully.
Slowly Yuki sat on the mattress, taking out her unique skill known as [Void Storage]. He manipulates the vacuum to get rid of the two unconscious people, Kai and Polo. The two were lying limp on the floor, still not fully recovered.
Kai's eyes began to open, and he felt a sense of confusion surrounding his mind. He rubbed his head slowly which still felt dizzy, while slowing down his memory. The images of his previous moments popped into his mind, reminding him of his journey in the mysterious forest and his final fight with the black-armed shadow creature with a sharp mouth. He tried to cast his magic, [Terra Blast], but at once he lost consciousness and failed to cast his magic.
Meanwhile, Polo remained unconscious on the floor, unconscious.
Kai looked around, trying to understand where he was. His eyes were fixed on the bed, and there he saw Yuki—his own father. However, something felt different in Yuki's attitude. His face looked even colder and expressionless like before.
Yuki just looked at Kai with a sharp glare, and said in a flat voice, "How are you doing, son?"
Kai replied with a slight confusion, "Yes, I'm fine, dad. Just a little dizzy." Kai felt a strangeness in his father's attitude, but before he could express his doubts, Yuki answered his question first.
Yuki continued, "Good, son. Then are you hungry? If you feel hungry, I can make food for you."
Kai shook his head, "No need, dad. I'm not hungry."
With a feeling of tiredness weighing down her body, Yuki replied, "Alright, then I want to rest for a while."
Yuki was relieved to hear those words and nodded as a sign of her understanding. He lay on a comfortable bed, closing his eyes in hopes of restoring his energy.
Kai sat beside the bed, keeping his father's resting presence. His face was full of decisiveness and obedience.
In the silence of the night, Kai turned his gaze out the window, watching the moon shine brightly and the stars strewn across the dark sky. He thought of their journey filled with mystery and danger, and unanswered questions.
In a whispering voice, Kai said to himself, "What really happened to my father? Why has his attitude changed so drastically? Does the change have a relationship with the three dead fools?, I think yes",
Kai's gaze was fixed on Polo who was lying unconscious on the floor, but he decided to ignore it for a moment. The sun began to rise, bringing new hope for a new day.
Kai, who was still standing guard near Yuki, saw his father slowly waking up from his sleep. Yuki, with an elegant gesture, opened her eyes and realized that morning had arrived. In a calm voice, he greeted Kai, "Morning, son."
Kai respectfully bowed, replying, "Morning too, father."
Yuki got up from the bed with a calm demeanor, his gaze focused on Polo who was still lying on the floor. His face showed a silence that was hard to break.
Gently, Yuki woke Polo who was still unconscious. Polo slowly opened his eyes, his breathing was irregular, and his memory was still blurred. He remembered the traumatic event he had just experienced.
With breathless breathing and blurred vision, Polo, like a man out of his mind, asked, "Where am I, and where are my friends?" While recalling the traumatic event he experienced, he shouted with disordered breathing.
Yuki watched Polo's state with concern. He realizes that Polo has a deep inner wound, remembering the tragic death of his friend before him.
Without hesitation, Yuki approached Polo quickly and used his magic power. He cast the spell [Sleep] and [Cure], recovering Polo physically and mentally. Polo fell asleep peacefully.
Yuki, in her little heart, actually wanted to take Polo with her. However, he realizes that his attachment to Polo can be a burden for him, given the weaknesses and traumas that Polo has experienced, along with the events that Yuki has experienced. Therefore, Yuki made a drastic decision. Using his teleportation power, he transferred Polo to the headquarters of the Adventurers Guild, Not only that, Yuki also used memory-removing magic to erase Polo's memories of dark memories and his friends.
Kai, who was standing by the window, told Yuki about a group of soldiers surrounding their place to stay. Yuki, who was filled with curiosity, calmly approached the window to see for herself. And sure enough, out there, there are many soldiers from the Kingdom of Ardor who guard every corner of the house.
Yuki pondered for a moment, thinking about the possible reason behind this siege. In the encircling silence, Yuki said in a low tone, "Hmm, it seems like this is because I have killed the Garbage Gideon." Despite the seriousness of the situation, Yuki still seemed relaxed as usual, without the slightest sense of panic.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, followed by the voice of a man who loudly declared, "Give yourself up, Zephyr! The Royal Ardor Army has declared that you committed a criminal act by killing the noble of the Archebane family. Hand yourself over, otherwise we will capture you by force!"
Yuki sighed deeply and turned his face towards Kai, who was already ready for action. Kai said excitedly, "Dad, can I destroy them all?"
With a flat expression, and a grinning smile, Yuki replied, "Yes, with pleasure, Kai."
