They Say, I'm a Liar
Danu

Meanwhile, since killing Evelyn and carrying all the money and cell phones belonging to the woman, Danu always kept silent in his house. He is always worried. Not because he killed someone. The one he killed was a beggar with no relatives. Who wants to prosecute his crimes? Police will not investigate the death of a beggar on the street. The police are too busy to do that unimportant thing. The woman who was killed was just a shabby and seedy woman.

Danu is worried about the disease he is likely to contract. HIV AIDS. Will he catch the disease? For the past two weeks, she has always vented her desires into her body. Or ... has the virus started to eat away at his body?

Danu is almost frustrated. For two days he remained in his home. Not doing any activities. The man just sat on the porch of his house with a blank look. Danu never even answered the greetings of the neighbors who were walking through his house.

For two days also, the wife always asked the reason the husband did not go to make a living. Because, if Danu did not go begging, there would be no food served in the house.

However, each wife asks the reason why she does not work, Danu instead of giving an answer, the man instead gave several pieces of money a hundred thousand rupiah to the wife so that the woman no longer asked him. Of course it is very powerful way to stop the question that continues to be thrown from the mouth of his wife.

Not only the wife, Mak Yati— siblings and the owner of the boarding house where Evelyn lives— also asked Evelyn whereabouts to Danu.

If Danu didn't answer the question yesterday, this time he answered the question with anger.

“Why from yesterday brother always ask about him?! He's gone nowhere! Basic ja'lang! Brash woman!” Danu continued to curse while telling Evelyn about her sister. While Mak Yati just stared in wonder at the younger brother. Why is his sister so angry? Did Evelyn run away with all the money begging her?

Forehead Yati shrivel, “dia go where? Her belongings in that room when would they be taken?” ask the woman.

“He will never be able to return. Burn it all! Basic carrier of disease!” ketus Danube.

Every brother talked about Evelyn, Danu always remembered what a nurse said about Evelyn's illness. The anger took control of the man again. Danu gurgas swung a step towards the room that Evelyn used to occupy.

“Let me burn everything!”

Mak Yati who heard that too, hurriedly followed Danu's steps. Mak Yati is hysterical when Danu throws all of Evelyn's belongings and burns them.

“Andu! It's crazy huh! What if Ev comes back here?! What if he wants to take his belongings?!” yelled Mak Yati.

“I make sure he will never come back here again!” danu said in the midst of the fire.

The fire devoured all of Evelyn's clothes as well as the mattresses and cosmetic tools the woman used. Hearing Mak Yati's screams, as well as the smoke billowing through the air, many of the residents who were crowding watched her.

The fire drama was stopped when several men in police uniforms, came to the boarding house area. Apparently the police already know the whereabouts of Danu.

“That's Mr. Danu,” said one resident, while pointing at Danu. Danu's eyes widened when there were many men in police uniform looking for her.

The man was surrounded.

Danu ran down the ridge, evading the pursuit of the police. Several policemen ran after him, and several more raided the man's house.

Police found a woman's bag containing tens of thousands of pieces of money along with Evelyn's cell phone and identity card.

“My husband why Sir? What's wrong with him? It's my husband's. Why did you take it. If you want to take the bag, take it. But the money gave me!” ketus danu's.

The police showed evidence to Danu's wife. “In this bag there is an identification card on behalf of Evelyn. This bag does not belong to Mr. Danu. He snatched it from someone.”

“My husband robbed the bag?”

“Mom know the owner of this bag?” ask the police.

“Iya. He is one of the tenants in my boarding house,” replied Mak Yati. Mak Yati looks agitated. What happened between Danu and Evelyn, until the police were present in the neighborhood where he currently lives?

“Home costs? So Miss Evelyn also lives in this area?”

Mak Yati nodded her head, answering the police question.

“Can we see the room that is usually occupied by the owner of this bag?”

Yati nodded her head again. The middle-aged woman then invited the police to enter the usual boarding room occupied by Evelyn.

“His stuff has been burned by my sister. With the rubbish ahead. My sister, the man who was chased by other police.”

Police combed the room with an area of 12m² it. There was not a single item left there.

“Evelyn's mother, who lives in this boarding house, has passed away. And, who became the suspect in the murder case was a man named Danu.”

Yati's eyes widened, as did his wife Danu. Of course, they did not believe what the police said.

Because, despite working in the streets, Danu never involved in violence. The man always lived in peace. Even Danu doesn't like the noise.

Before long, there was a scream from behind. Apparently Danu has been caught. The man's calf was hit by hot lead thrown by one of the police officers who had been chasing him. Danu screamed in pain as the hot bullet stuck to her calf.

“My sister is unlikely to kill, sir. This must be slander!”

“Yes, this must be slander. My husband is a good man!”

“Everything will be proven in court,” replied the policeman.

When Danu's sister and wife denied Danu's killing Evelyn, out there, Danu screamed. The man revolted when two men in police uniforms dragged him.

“He deserved to die! He deserved to die! He has transmitted a dangerous disease to me! He deserved to die! Evelyn the ja'lang is a damned woman!”

That's what Danu screamed.

People are also increasingly crowded. Indah and her husband were at home at the time.

Mak Yati ran over to her sister who was held by the police.

“My sister is innocent! He's not a murderer! This must be slander! It's all slander!” yelled Mak Yati. Not only Mak Yati, Danu's wife did the same. They don't want Danu thrown in jail.

“You didn't kill, did you, Bang? Didn't you? Tell these cops that you didn't kill him!” said Danu's wife.

Danu immediately laughed out loud. “I did kill him. I alone strangled the ja'lang's neck until he died!”
