The Wrong Time

The Wrong Time
Chapter 3

This grandmother was very enthusiastic when she saw me. On the way to his house, he kept holding my hand as if I could not get out of his sight. I'm starting to realize. Why do I have to follow Grandma? What if he's the messenger from the thugs who chased you first? What if this is their new scam. Oh, my God, what am I? I shouldn't have followed Grandma back home!

But, after some time on the way, we arrived at a house that was not too big. The house has a small garden overgrown with beautiful colorful flowers. I'm stunned. This house is so sweet.

Grandma let me in and my eyes grew brighter when I saw the contents. Old furniture that still looks sturdy, clean floors are very slippery and cold room air. I closed my eyes. This is the first time I have felt such comfort.

“Sit, Kia. Grandma grab a drink first,” Grandma said and went to the kitchen. I am stunned by this house. Not long after, Grandma came with a glass and sat down next to me. Next to the chair was a table with an album. He took it and opened it for me. I'm confused but I can't get out of this situation right now.

I was shocked to death when this Grandma showed me my parents' wedding photos. I still remember, the traditional Javanese clothing that makes them very handsome and beautiful. How could all this happen?

A few years ago, when I was a year old and my brother was seven, we were separated from my grandmother. At that time, both of my parents wanted to migrate to the land of people. In the past, the atmosphere here was very difficult to support a family. Therefore, the father and mother chose to migrate. They're afraid that Ryan and I can't get enough food. Not to mention, at that time I was often sickly erratic. Father who is only a lading worker, it is very difficult to earn income. While the mother who is only a housekeeper, has not adequately covered all the shortcomings. Finally, Father and Mother decided to go and leave Grandma alone here.

As time went on, Grandma said, both of my parents very rarely contacted Grandma. But, they often sent Grandma money. Over time, my parents no longer contacted Grandma. They lost contact with Grandma while at that time Grandma did not know where our address was. Until finally the whole family died and left only me, Grandma was very surprised. Even the death of his son, he did not know. Grandma was crying while I was just silent daydreaming about the faces of Dad, Mom and Ryan.

“Grandmother is grateful, God brought us together. Grandma was so happy,” she said and clasped both my hands.

I smile. Moreover, I Nek, for so long I did not feel comfortable home and protection from family, finally now I meet Grandma. I hugged her very tightly, I let my tiredness just fly away. When I hugged Grandma, I felt like Dad, Mom and Ryan were smiling at me. Now, I have found my real home and family. From that moment on, Grandma and I lived together and we always told stories, reminiscing about the past.
