The Widow's Choice

The Widow's Choice
Egotistical

The stars and moon have shown their light. Accompany the darkness of the night that began to greet the world. In one corner of the city of Jogja, a handsome and dashing man was staring away at the atmosphere of the city of Jogja at night from the window.

Rahman was still waiting for the unconscious Nurul. Nita and Yudi have returned home after Nurul was transferred to the hospital room. He stood by the window and stared at the night atmosphere of the city.

"Eeemmm," a familiar voice in Rahman's ear shifted his gaze. He turned his body to look at the woman who slowly opened her eyes. He immediately approached the woman, who was none other than Nurul.

"You're sober, honey?" Sapa Rahman sitting on the edge of Nurul's bed.

"Mas," said Nurul Lirih.

Nurul spread his gaze. Look at a room that is foreign to him. "This where is Mas?"

"At the hospital, baby. You fainted at mom's grave." Rahman rubbed the top of Nurul's head attentively.

"If you just passed out, why should you be taken to Mas hospital? Come home closer," said Nurul with a little stammering and soft.

"Your amniotic water was seeping, baby, so I immediately took you to the hospital," replied Rahman who immediately kissed Nurul's forehead.

"I'll call the nurse to check on you, right away" Rahman moved from his seat.

Nurul just stared at where her husband was going to go to the phone in the room. He then turned his gaze towards the window of the room whose curtains had been opened by Rahman. The atmosphere outside was dark because the night had arrived.

"Is anyone sick, baby?" asked Rahman who was back sitting on the edge of Nurul's bed.

Nurul looked at her husband's face and then smiled. Suddenly, her tears slowly. Rahman immediately rubbed it.

"Don't cry baby! Say, what do you feel? Which part hurts?" Nurul just kept quiet and shook his head.

"Our baby how's Mas?"

"He's all right. He's strong like you." Rahman smiled at Nurul.

The knock on the door diverted their conversation. Two nurses came in. They checked Nurul's condition. After confirming Nurul's condition was stable, they left Nurul's ward.

"Would you like a drink?" ask Rahman.

Nurul just nodded his head. He felt his throat dry. Rahman took some water and helped Nurul drink.

"Want to eat something? Mbak Nita brought food. Shall I get it?"

"Where's Nita?"

"Mak Nita came home after you were transferred here. Lisa whines to go home, so she goes straight home with Mas Yudi."

Rahman moved from his seat. He took the provisions brought by Nita and showed it to Nurul.

"Mas already eaten?"

"Yet. Wait for you,"

"Mas Rahman ate first yes, Nurul did not want to eat yet,"

"Do you want to eat brownies?"

Nurul nodded his head slowly. Rahman then took a piece of brownie that he had asked to buy Bagas. He remembered that Nurul loved brownies. So he deliberately bought the cake for Nurul.

Rahman steals the cake slowly. Nurul spent two small pieces of brownies.

"Mas Rahman eat first! Want Nurul a bribe?"

"You rest, I eat alone!" Nurul nodded obediently. His body still feels weak. His head was also a little dizzy. But he also didn't want to see Rahman until he got sick.

"You want my Dek bribe? This knows the bolster that was bought by Mas Yudi," Rahman bargained.

"Don't you eat that?"

"Why Deck? Mbak Nita said, the sauce was already heated earlier, so not stale."

"Maaass, that's,,"

"You know for yourself Deck, I'm not the picky type of food. We should be grateful for what is," Rahman rubbed the soft face of Nurul. "So don't worry! Okay?"

Nurul pulled a slight corner of her lips. Rahman then ate the tofu brought by Nita. He sat on the edge of Nurul's bed.

"Mas, uh,,"

"Yes darling. You want? Or need something?"

"Can Nurul borrow your phone?"

"Certainly dear," Rahman immediately picked up his cell phone which he placed on the cabinet table. Then hand it over to Nurul. Rahman continued eating.

Nurul turns on Rahman's phone screen and unlocks the screen. There's a photo there as wallpaper. The photo shows Rahman kissing her forehead for the first time. Nurul raised her little smile.

Until he reached the video gallery. He saw something familiar. He played the video without sound. Her chest started to cramp. His eyes are starting to get hot. As much as possible he held his stuffing so as not to come out of his mouth. His body slightly trembled holding his sob.

"Mas Rahman really did it with Mbak Dinda?" batin Nurul while looking at her husband who is tidying up his food supply.

Yep. Nurul found the video that Dinda sent. Video evidence that Rahman had been intimate with her. His tears finally rolled off without being able to hold him anymore. His stuff came out of his mouth. Rahman turned his head because of Nurul's voice. He immediately approached his wife.

"Why you, baby? Is anyone sick? I'll call the nurse for a minute!" asked Rahman while wiping the tears that wet Nurul's cheeks. He was about to move to call the nurse, but his hand was held back by Nurul.

"Nobody is sick" Nurul tried to smile at Rahman. The phone he was holding was placed next to his body.

"Why are you crying? Tell me, whatever it is. Don't keep it to yourself! I'm here, share with me!"

"May I ask you something, Mommy? I hope, Mas answered honestly."

"Of course, baby."

"Did Mas really do it with Madam Dinda?" nurul's tears had filled her eyelids when the question came out of Nurul's mouth.

"Can we not talk about that now? You need to rest a lot!" Rahman tried to shift the subject.

"Maass, I just need your honesty."

"And I need your trust. Do you believe me?" Rahman clasped both of Nurul's hands.

Nurul was still trying to hold back her tears. He also tried to smile at Rahman. Without saying anything, Nurul immediately hugged Rahman's body very tightly. She shed her tears that she could no longer contain.

"Can I be selfish? Selfish not to share you with other women? Selfish to have you all for myself? Selfish not to allow you to marry Miss Dinda or any woman?" nurul said as he sobbed in Rahman's arms. Rahman remained silent. He just hugged his wife's little body.

"Want me to be selfish, but why can't I?" Rahman's heart ached to hear every word his wife said.

"I'm sorry, I can't be a good wife to you!"

"Trust me, baby! I'm only yours, no other woman. You will only share me with our children. And you, are my best wife." Rahman let go of his embrace and kissed the top of Nurul's head.

Slowly Nurul's cries began to subside. He could feel Rahman's sincerity in his words earlier. But the video he saw still disturbed his mind.

"Mas, uh,,"

"Heem?" Rahman stared softly at Nurul's puffy face.

"Did you really do it?"

"Dear,"

"Mas, say! I believe you."

"Well, if that's what you want! And thank you, you believe me." Rahman again landed his lips on Nurul's forehead gently.

Rahman reluctantly complied with Nurul's request. "You remember about a month ago, I came home so late that time?"

Nurul leaned his body on his bed. He tried to remember what Rahman said. And he nodded his head.

"Did you do it then?"

"That afternoon I just met an old friend of mine. We met at the hotel restaurant a few days earlier. Before long we talked, Dinda suddenly approached us. She also knew Dinda as my ex-wife. We finally talked to three. But not long after, he then said goodbye because there was a sudden business. After that, I felt dizzy and then didn't remember anything. And when I woke up, I was in a hotel room with Dinda." Rahman paused the story and looked at Nurul's bead carefully.

Nurul just nodded her head to Rahman for her to continue her story. "When I asked her why we were in the room together, Dinda said, she felt sorry to see me dizzy and rented me a hotel room. That's when he said I forced him to do it."

"That video is true, huh? You did?"

"The video? Did Dinda send you a video too?"

"No. I saw it on your phone."

Rahman took a long breath. "Why did I forget about the video? Aaahh, shit!" inner Rahman.

"Burhan is looking for the truth about the video."

"But that photo is really you. Even the stitches on your back shoulder are clearly visible in the photo."

"You believe me, don't you?"

Nurul nodded slowly. He is unable to speak. Her heart still felt sore remembering the photos and videos of her husband.

Rahman immediately pulled his wife's body and hugged her back. Hugged it tightly and very tightly. He knew what he said hurt his wife.

"Marry Mbak Dinda soon Mas! I don't want you to be an irresponsible man." Nurul said in Rahman's arms.

Rahman did not answer. He did not want to hurt his wife more. They hugged for a long time. Nurul fell asleep in Rahman's arms. He was too tired to face that reality.

The truth of what Rahman told him. The fact that Rahman had slept in a hotel room with his ex-wife. She wanted to believe in her husband completely, but the evidence was too strong to ignore. And his heart was too tired to accept the reality of his past being repeated.
