Origins
In the world of Bleach, a hundred years before the original story begins, the captain of the 12th division and founder of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute, Urahara Kisuke, creates something very dangerous under the name Hogyoku.
After that, he experimented with it. This experiment involved making Zanpakuto, Unfortunately, Zanpakuto made like an empty shell without Shikai or Bankai. That makes it impossible for them to develop further.
But, what they don't know, one of these Zanpakuto is actually influenced by Hogyoku which gives him unlimited potential to develop. The unseen Zanpakuto in Bleach.. Sen Maboroshi!
When Urahara was forced to flee, he destroyed all the studies related to Hogyoku and sealed it in Rukia's body, but back then he had no time to destroy Sen Maboroshi.
In his haste, he simply throws it into the passageway between the soul society and the human world that should make it disappear forever. But what he doesn't expect is that he travels the world and finds Roja's soul after she dies and makes himself his Zanpakuto.
