Chapter 4 - Sweet Wine

Stirring the meat soup from his bowl. Kai who currently smelled the fragrant aroma of the spice-supply mix from the Expedition troops while blowing occasionally to enjoy a good meal at night, looked at a girl in front with question mark-filled eyes.

"What do you really want to ask?"

In front of Kai is Liona. He looked at his stupid kaka with an unbearable expression of annoyance.

"How can you relax in the middle of the night while enjoying food, when what is around is very unpleasant to look at..hemp!!.... Men are not understandable"

Liona's words have a very clear basis, because the surrounding scenery makes anyone feel uncomfortable.

The next night after the Chimera conquest is the current time, where the remnants of the first Team against the Chimera are only a few people left. People are still alive but have no chance of living forced to live to die in the middle of the forest.

Although the Expeditionary Force brought some Healers, but it was only able to heal minor injuries. If there were a Third Tier Magic Healer they might be saved.

Although the mentally shaken people cannot be healed, but at least their bodies can still be saved. For rank D adventurers and novice knights to see their comrades being eaten by monsters right in plain sight could only make a nightmare at night, so that what is under their eyes is just dark eye bags full of fatigue to what they can see.

A view where ideal expectations are shattered is scattered in plain sight by a bitter reality.

Liona looked around with a look full of confidence over what she was thinking.

(Things like overwork overpayment are just stupidity.. This was the reason why an adventurer had to look and think carefully about the Quest they would receive... Not even take it without thinking about preparation)

Idealism without realism is like a goal without action. It would be a mere delusion without being able to reach, and even if one were to start stepping it would be useless if one did not understand the rationality at hand, one would eventually starve to death without being able to gain anything.

Realistic without idealism share action without purpose. Being able to act but not knowing which way someone is heading, it will all be too late when he realizes what lies ahead is just a dead end to death.

If the two things are not balanced with the appropriate portion, then it will eventually lead to destruction.

All of that was what the teachers of the Fire Dragon Lord Academy taught Kai and Liona. Lessons that teach Logic, Philosophy and meaning to be a follower, a doctrine instilled into the head of his students that the school is only a simulation of the life of a follower to understand the reality of life, where a devout student is prepared not to die after stepping out of the Academy gates.

Recalling the school days made Liona put a hand on her cheek.

(What the cruel Professor teaches is sometimes useful... Something like balancing morals with idealism and destroying naivety with Reality... If only they were not demon-faced, maybe I would have become a devout disciple)

Liona's eyes looked lazy when she turned to the dying knights who were covered in bandages, though it was none of Liona's business. Liona was aware of the limits of her ability as an adventurer where she sometimes saw death on some of the Quests she had been on.

Unable to hold back the murmur from within her heart, Liona finally let it out in words.

"As a woman, such a silly drama really makes my appetite decrease, but it's your own fault for not understanding the limits of ability"

"Death happens everywhere and danger sometimes appears at unexpected times.Because it is very important for us to fill the stomach first before facing it"

Liona sighed lazily after hearing Kai's muttering that had no weight in her words. He showed an expression as if he did not accept his brother's stupid attitude all this time.

"Huuuf.. I still can't believe the contents of my head went blank after leaving the Academy three years ago... Go where my once smart and calculating kaka was"

His respected and admired man now looks nothing at all. It made a kind of complicated feeling for Liona.

Seeing Kai with yielding eyes was like saying "yes! " Liona wants to confirm something about the conquest of [Death Smile]. Something that might have been very disturbing to his mind could have been missed.

"Speaking about our time at school.. Is there something I want to ask you? "

"What's that about this brother of yours, who's been around a lot of girls from our class?"

Liona held her head with one hand while showing an expression of a headache, as if soaked by lake water during the winter, it would be cold and very painful.

"That's not what I want to know!!... "

Busy by putting a spoon in his mouth and then after it runs out, Kai stops, then puts an empty bowl nearby. The burning fumes on the cooking stove began to be exhaled by the night breeze, covering part of Kai's face from Liona's sight for a while, after all Kai answered the question.

"Regarding [Death Smile] was most likely not created by the Darkness Dragon Lord's followers"

"That makes sense"

"If it was their [Death Smile], our fight wouldn't have been that easy"

"You're right, our magic spells will not be effective against the Darkness Dragon Lord's magic"

It would be reasonable to assume [Death Smile] was a creation of the Darkness Dragon Lord's followers since the monster possessed Dark Magic. As for Liona and Kai who were followers of one of the three Dragon Lords, it was a real nightmare for the two of them.

If it is known that their target uses Dark Magic from the Darkness Dragon Lord, then Liona's only choice is to return to make new plans or even cancel the Quest, although it had their reputation ruined but it was a fair price for their safety. A fight that has a small chance of winning is better not to be faced at all. That was in line with what Liona learned.

But the fact that they overcome it easily opens up a few other possibilities.

"i thought [Death Smile] in the legend told using the Darkness Dragon Lord Magic, is the information we got wrong? "

"Hm.. I don't know. But from what I learned in the library first, it seems like [Death Smile] was actually created by the followers"

"Do you have any proof?"

Kai shook his head.

Liona placed a hand on her chin to clear her mind, then she recalled something.

"Kaka.. Ever had special training on how to fight followers? isn't that where you can realize something? "

"It's just a practice, Liona.. I didn't even kill the creature.. "

(As I expected. The Academy will not allow its valuable assets to be destroyed just for training, even though the creature cannot be recreated)

His brother who has experience in fighting Special Dark Magic users, what else is a clever Analytical type Kai even though it only exists in the past. but he should be able to recall the results of his analysis at that time, even though now it may have turned into instinct alone.

Recalling what Kai said after understanding Liona's true intentions was a moment ago. Making some sort of information cut to see the big picture of what might happen, For Liona, her sister's analysis is often accurate when talking about their memories at the Academy. That way, conclusions that approach the truth may actually have been determined from the beginning.

Liona's eyes began to shrink when she realized something.

(If [Death Smile] in the legend was created by the followers, while the one we are fighting does not have Special Dark Magic. Then it means-)

"There are people who created other Chimeras using Dark Magic, and it's definitely not the followers"

Kai took back the empty bowl after hearing Liona mutter to then fill it with soup from the furnace in plain sight. Return to eating while not paying attention to Liona who again dissolved in her mind.

After a while.

The sound of footsteps of one of the knights approached the two of them. He was wearing a different Armor than the Expeditionary forces.

Spreading hands to welcome a long golden haired beautiful girl wearing a walking dress.

"Daughter.. According to the knight captain they were both Chimera conquerors"

The girl looked at Kai and Liona then slightly bowed then lifted her dress with a sweet smile.

"Thank you dear adventurers, your services are great for my family's territory.. In the name of the northern noble family.. I'm Shasaha Windburner inviting you to dinner when you get home"

Liona returned from the daydream and Kai placed a bowl nearby, then stood up and saluted with a bow. Liona put on a smiley face then greeted.

"It's normal for me to meet you"

The noble girl replied to him with a sweet smile.

The noble girl's hand was patted. Then a male servant approached while carrying a box and then opened it.

The bottles of Red Beer were there.

"What if I give you a little present"

After the noble girl turned her head, the maid immediately opened the bottle to then the deep red liquid was poured into three glass glasses.

"Of course, princess. Thank you for your kindness"

Kai and Liona take the glass when the waiter offers. The hands of the two of them touched the glass and then brought it closer to his lips, preparing for a drink.

There was nothing better to make Liona's mood return to its original state than to hear the sweetness of the sound when Gold was about to enter her pouch.

(The nobles are amazing)

Liona smiled brightly.

The noble girl raises a glass to let them drink. Kai who was currently looking at the glass while shaking it immediately spent in one gulp.

Liona brought the glass closer to her lips then gulped it down slowly.

The red beer enters Liona's throat, the warm feeling as the water continues to flow makes the wind rise at night as if there is nothing.

It flows and continues to flow, to the point where it starts to burn.

Liona and Kai's bodies suddenly limp and fall to the ground.

UHUK!!!..

UHUKK!!..

The red liquid started to come out after Liona covered her mouth with a hand.

The only thing that Liona could see before her consciousness started to blur, was only the smile of a girl.

A wide smile formed a scythe as if it almost touched both of its ears aimed at the two of them. All the things that make happy will be a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle, maybe enough to describe the smile of the girl.

"Cz... Fu's... Fu's.... This time, two guests"
