DINDAS
CHAPTER 5. Liars.
BRAKK..!!
Klontang..!!
There was a sound of something slamming as Dinda opened her eyes. The needle was still showing at 4am as he glanced at the waker clock beside his bed.
"Where's the money??!" he heard screaming from outside his room.
"What money??!" mother Dinda replied angrily to a man. He is Donny, Dinda's stepfather.
For years, Dinda and her mother have been out of this man's grip. A man who never lived for his wife and stepson. His job is just to get drunk and play gambling.
"Your work is just gambling and getting drunk??!!! Get out of here!! There's no money here..!" continued again.
"Don't lie!! Cepet give!! Or I'll kill you..!" the shabby man picked up a used bottle of drink and threatened his wife.
"Let's just hit me!! Even if I die you won't get a penny from this house either." replied Dita, Dinda's mother loudly, her words further provoked the anger of her stepfather.
Plok!!
A roll of money hit the old man's face and fell right under his feet. He picked up a hundred thousand rolls of money that Dinda threw just now.
"Take the money and get out of here!! Don't make a fuss!!" dinda said, her voice trembling, she looked disgusted at her father's reddened face due to the influence of alcohol.
"Huahahahah.this is my new son, your mother is stingy, has a lot of money but does not share it with Dad." He approached Dinda and would caress her son's long hair. His efforts were brushed aside by Dinda.
"Well, if you don't want to, I'll go..!" the man staggered out of the house leaving behind his wife and stepson.
Mother Dinda's face changed, she was astonished by the actions her daughter had taken.
"Where did you get that kind of money, Ndug?" ask mother.
Dinda did not answer, she went back inside her blanket. The motif of the chrysanthemum flowers on his blanket had begun to fade.
"Minjem from temen, ma'am. The plan was to buy her medicine." replied Dinda briefly, her hand pulling the blanket higher until it covered her ears.
"That much money??" ask her mother again.
"Ah..I donk, don't do much ah.." Dinda sat down and yelled at her mother.
Dinda was silent for a moment looking at her mother's face that looked shocked, maybe surprised because her daughter started to rebel lately.
"That's money at the table, ma'am. Wear it to shop later." Dinda pointed towards the table, there were some money sheets on it.
"And one more thing, I don't have to believe what the neighbors say. That's Dinda's boss at the store, ma'am." Dinda took a breath.
"Dinda often comes home from the store, there is no more angkot, so sometimes he pity and nganterin Dinda home." Dinda regained her senses and turned her back on her mother.
"Yes, I already believe, I'm sorry, Mom, yes, Ndug. You're working hard because of Mom." Dinda's mother stroked her daughter's hair slowly before rushing out of the room.
Shortly after her mother came out, tears began to flow from both eyelids. Dinda cried sobbing, her heart was very sick considering the words of her mother.
"Sorry Dinda lied to Mom.. Dinda did this for Mom."

As usual after sweeping the house and backyard Dinda immediately took a shower and prepared to leave for school.
"Mother, Dinda left first, yeah." Dinda kissed her mother's hand.
"Be careful, yes, Ndug." replied Dinda's mother.
"Oh yes, Mom. Maybe Dinda will come home again tonight, I don't have to wait for Dinda. I just rest and take the medicine.
Dinda's mother simply nodded and looked at her daughter with pity. Ever since Dinda's father died, it was she who worked to meet the needs of both of them. Dinda claims to work in a minimarket near her school. Dinda's own mother was just a tailor, she only worked if anyone would use her services. Not not unwilling to work but his illness is what makes Dinda's mother can not work hard.
Dinda walked towards her school in small steps, occasionally yawning at her drowsiness. After yesterday's incident Dinda could not sleep at all. Dinda's sleepiness disappeared as a shrill voice called out her name.
"Milma..."
"Haaahh early in the morning so excited?!" Dinda turned her head, the screaming voice coming from her best friend Venny.
"Life must be a spirit, even if you don't have money, a big house, a handsome guy, a beautiful face, hm..moreover, yes?" Venny hugged her best friend.
"Most think loe, mending we think of school first, it looks like we have uda nih." Dinda showed me her watch.
"Crazy at 8. Run, Din..! Ntar can be punished if it's too late." Venny pulled Dinda's hand and ran small towards the gate of their school that was almost closed.
Dinda and Venny have been in office since Junior High, they have the same fate that finally makes them as friends who share and strengthen each other.
"Well punished for cleaning WC!!" grouse Venny.
"Udah do not need to complain. We were wrong, too late for school." Dinda took the mop bucket and filled it with water.
"Entar afternoon you want to go again, Din?" venny asked as she began washing the mop.
"Maybe." answered Dinda briefly.
"Mending Loe stop, Din. Make your own goodness, anyways for what do you keep going? Which there loe even more tormented and feel guilty with your own mother." Venny was babbling next to Dinda.
"How can I stop going from where can I dptin money for mother's treatment?" dinda replied in a rather high tone.
"As far as elo, Din, I can only ingetin elo doang." Venny released her condensed glasses.
"What's the gue, Ven? Elo knows for myself Mom's been very sick for a long time, she's the only family I have. I'm doing this rich thing for him too." Dinda looked down and started crying.
"Have Dinda, don't cry. Who knows if there is a better way out. Before it's too late mending loe stops immediately." Venny hugged her best friend.
Dinda and Venny leave the toilet, and rest in the cafeteria. Dinda ordered iced tea and a bowl of noodles while Venny had mango juice and plucked a pack of toast.
"Today there's a guy who's been asking me to come home, Ven." Dinda said.
"Ready?"
"Yes yesterday too, he even let me find the earrings that fall."
"Continue?"
"Yes I thank him, and his plan is to make sure I date." said Dinda.
"Huh? Keep going on dates with her, Din?"
"Either it seems he likes me, Ven." Dinda's face blushed a little.
"No handsome?" ask Venny curiously.
"Beauty, anyway. But I'm still confused, trus loe knows what my rich life is. There's no way I'm giving a guy a chance to get close to me." confided Dinda again.
"Once a date doesn't mean a chance, Din. Do you walk the same way with him, no harm also? Especially if it's handsome." Venny laughs.
"Today you're going out again, Din?" ask Venny.
"Yes I'm nitip Mom, yeah, Ven."
"Who else is the same, Din? Loe money is enough for the cost of converting? Stop it Din!"
" New 50 million is still less Ven. Today Om Satrio said he'd pick me up after school."
"Huh? The contractor?"
"Yes, the day he promised he'd give me 20 million if I only served him."
"Want to?"
"When else can I get that kind of money and fast, Ven?" Dinda let out a long sigh and Venny just kept quiet while gulping down the mango juice in front of her.
Veni has repeatedly reprimanded his best friend, although it is easy to get the money but the results of Dinda's efforts are just illegal money.
"If I could help you, Din."
"Let's take care of you when I'm gone, I'm so grateful, Ven."
"Our rich little people have to justify all kinds of ways to survive." Venny again breathed
"Let's go to class." Dinda called to end their conversation.
