SIDE TO SIDE
S2 ~ ACT 2
A heli arrives at the back garden of the Hartono family. Andre holds Via's hand to help Via down the heli.
“Renny darling.” Via ran to hug her daughter.
“Darling don't be too hard on him ya!” Via turned to look at Andre's face, implied emotion on his handsome face.
“Log into my workspace!” Andre invites Renny into his study, Renny just follows, followed by Brian and Carl.
“Please mr.” Carl pours a cup of warm tea and puts it in front of Andre, then rushes out.
Andre hooked his fingers in front of his handsome face. Although he was 45 years old, his face still looked handsome and more authoritative.
“Renny sits in front of me!”
“Papa. i.” Renny looked scared but still rushed to sit in front of her papa.
“You know what you're doing isn't a good thing?” Andre held his voice back not to raise.
Renny just kept quiet and bowed his face.
“You invited almost all the men in this city!! Do you want to make yourself look worth nothing?!” This time a high note came out of Andre's mouth.
“Since when did papa care about me?? Care about my pride??” Renny looked at Andre's face.

Andre was silent, giving Renny a chance to talk.
“I've had my birthday a week. But my mom and dad didn't even accompany me. You guys are busy with work, and family business.”
“All that we do for you.” Answer Andre.
“No, papa never loved me! Papa just love mama.” Renny shed tears.
Since the age of 10 years, Andre and Via began to often leave Renny to manage business in various countries.
“You always go together and never take me.”
“You're still in school.” Andre's tone began to rise.
“I tried my best to graduate quickly and help papa. But papa also prefers him.” Renny pointed at Brian who was standing straight behind Andre.
“It has nothing to do with Brian.”
“Downess, mr. Andre loves you very much.” Brian raised his voice.
“Who said you could talk?!” Renny snapped at Brian. Brian's face remained flat and calm.
“Renny! Watch your talk! She's your sister.” Andre is upset with his daughter's increasingly disrespectful behavior.
“See papa defends her more than I.” Renny's crying.
“Miss.”
“Shut!!” Renny threw the teacup towards Brian.
Andre was about to slap Renny's cheek but stopped his intention because Via entered and held him back.
“Don't love.” Prevent Via.
“You spoil him too much. See him now.” Andre rushed out leaving Via and Renny.
“I say goodbye first lady.” Brian nodded and walked out.
“Mama, bad papa.” Renny sobbed in Via's chest.
Via hugging and stroking Renny's hair that is still a little wet, “Why are you suddenly like this dear?” Via looked into Renny's eyes.
“I hate you guys who always leave me. Even on my birthday you still leave me.” Renny sobbed, her tears melted down.
“Pardon mom and dad yes. Let me talk to papa later. But you also have to apologize.” Via stroked Renny's cheek to wipe away her tears.
“Nmobile..” Renny Grunts.
“Do not want?” Via Ledek.
“Iya.”
“Then mommy unplug all credit cards and bank accounts on your behalf yes.” Via smile.
“Do not..! Yes Renny apologizes.” Renny admitted defeat, and smiled stiffly.
“Good. That’s my girl.” Via smiled triumphantly, pinched Renny's cheek gently.
A woman, let alone a mother, knows best the weaknesses of her child.

“Renny has apologized to you?” Via follows Andre up on the bed.
“Heem.” Andre nodded and remained focused on the screen pad in his hand.
Via took the pad from Andre's hand and looked at it, “Don't ignore me.”
“You're overindulging him.” Andre diverted the padangan.
“OK I was wrong, but Renny has asked for forgiveness.” Via glued his forehead to Andre's forehead.
“That's because you threatened him.”
“Iya I threatened him to block all his credit cards.” Via smile.
“You're really worse than me.” Andre pinched Via's nose.
Via smiled and wrapped his hands around Andre's neck, and kissed his lips softly.
“If we could have another child, surely Renny would not be lonely.” Via leaned against Andre's chest, his face turning soft.
“Do not blame yourself.” Andre hugged and stroked Via's hair.
“Renny hates Brian even more. He feels Brian snatched your affection.” Chirps Via.
“Iya, I know. Brian is a good boy. He just keeps smiling when Renny always scolds him.” Answer Andre.
“Have forgotten the problems of children for a moment. Come here!” Andre hugged Via.
Via leaned back against Andre's chest, enjoying the sound of Andre's heartbeat.

Brian hit a sparring opponent in front of him, occasionally giving elbow kicks and punches. His sweat soaked the entire body, inflicting a beautiful print of his curves on the shirt. Brian likes kick boxing like Andre.
Andre came and put on boxing gloves and chest protection. After several times setting the right size he climbed the ring.
“Sparring with me.” Take Andre.
“Good.” Answer Brian.
Brian launched a few punches and kicks, Andre parried and then attacked. Brian defends, Andre continues to attack and until Brian finally falls.
“Come standing.” Andre stretched out his hand helping Brian to get up.
“You're relented?” Andre patted Brian on the shoulder.
“No, great sir.” Nod Brian.
“Renny won't let me.”
“You and him are my same son. Don't mind him.” Andre got off the ring, followed by Brian.
“Yuhu.. come here!! I brought a snack.” Via comes with a tray containing cold drinks and sweet snacks.
“Hei darling.” Andre greeted him with a light peck on the cheek, then approached asking for a reply.
“You're sweating!!” Via won't reply.
“Kejam.”
Brian just smiled amusedly at the behavior of his two adoptive parents.
“Brian stopped calling us by the name of lord and mistress. I don't like it.” Via ruffled waist.
“Good ma.” Brian sat down at the table, gulping down a cold drink in front of him.
“Where is Renny?” Andre asked.
“Hang out with his friend.” Answer Via.
Andre, Via and Brian chatted casually. Brian looked at them with pleasure. Laughter like this has not been seen for a long time. If it wasn't for Andre and Via maybe Brian was begging in the streets.
For a moment Brian recalled the memories of his past, how his parents died and Andre raised him as a child. He was 10 years old and Renny was 7. Those times were wonderful when Renny still called him big brother.
10 Years ago.
“Pity once yes, when it was small.”
“Accident huh?? Poor.”
“How old is he? Still small pity so much.”
That's what is said every time someone knows who came to worship at the funeral of his parents. Brian was 10 years old, because he understood death intelligently, but still could not feel his sadness.
He sat sweetly next to the coffin to his parents, accompanied by some of his closest relatives. Brian greeted everyone who had finished praying. Until it was Andre and Via's turn, as well as little Renny who tailed.
“Halo Brian.” Sapa Andre's.
“Halo uncle.”
“You are very handsome.” Via squatting and stroking Brian's blonde hair.
“Thanks.”
“Brian, will you be my son?” Via smiled, Brian gawked in surprise.
“Kaka!!” Renny smiled very sweetly and held Brian's hand.
Brian felt warmth and comfort in the middle of the Andre family.
“But I'm not your son.”
“You are my son. and forever will be my son.” Via hugging Brian's tiny body.
Brian cried in Via's arms, after a while he understood what it meant to lose. Loss is a sadness that stifles his chest. His smile all this time was only to divert the pain contained in the recesses of his heart. And as Via hugged her, there was a sense of warmth and comfort that eroded the pain and disappeared.
“Kaka.kaka.. janghan nanis, nti Lenny buy pelmen. (Sister. sister..don't cry later Renny buy candy.)” Renny touched Brian's two cheeks with his tiny hand.
Brian's father was one of the employees at Andre's company. Both of his parents had an accident during a trip. Andre and Via become guilty and are partly responsible for the accident.
Brian is a smart and genius kid. Andre loves Brian's intelligence and experience. Contrary to the stupid Renny, Brian always got first place and always entered the aceleration class.
Renny inherits a beautiful facial gene like her papa, but her brain and intelligence problems inherit her mother's Via. So every entrance to Renny's school is always rankking 2 but from the bottom..
This makes Renny sebel, he feels Andre and Via more loving Brian than he who is their own biological child.
“Papa sama more dear brother Brian!!!” Renny slammed the door and cried.
Andre and Via assume it's just a way Renny refers, not thinking far ahead that Renny would hate Brian so much.
“Don't call me Renny, call me Miss Renny. You're not my brother!!” Those are the harsh words spoken from Renny's tiny mouth when stepping on Junior High.
“Renny.”
“Do not call me Renny!! You're just a collect.” Renny cries and leaves Brian frozen.
The busyness of Andre and Via requires them to travel often. So that both Renny and Brian rarely meet and get affection. Unlike Brian who is able to react with adults, Renny actually feels increasingly dumped by both parents.
“Papa mama is mine!! Don't call him papa and mama!”
“Renny, why do you hate me now?” Brian makes his argument.
“Miss!! Add the word miss!! You're not my brother.”
“Alright, miss Renny. If that's what you want. I also won't call them papa and mama.”
“Good.” Answer Renny.
“Is this how you want to make up with me?”
“OK!!”
Renny made Andre and Via quarrel with his powerful behavior. Andre gets angry when he finds out Brian no longer calls him papa. But Brian was harsh and Andre could only understand him. Punishing Renny would only increase his level of hatred and jealousy towards Brian.
“You daydreaming what?” Via flicked his hand in front of Brian's handsome face.
“No kok ma. Just remembering the past.” Brian Say.
“Sorry Renny yes, she is just immature.”
Brian answered with a slow nod.
“You've entered the company, right? How's your progress?” Andre asked.
“Pa already. Om Nicky and aunt Linda taught me a lot.” Answer Brian.
“Papa expects a lot from you. I want to retire early and honeymoon every day.” Andre teases Via.
“We are not yet in Honolulu, are we leaving tomorrow?” Via smile.
Brian just laughed at the behavior of his parents who passed friendly. Sometimes they do not hesitate to show off their affection in public. Brian was eager to feel a genuine love like them. But what's the power if the woman he's always loved is his own sister..
Brian loves his sister Renny, although there is no blood flow, but legally Renny is still his sister.
“I shower first.” Pamit Brian's.
“OK. Rest baby.” Via stroking Brian's arm.
Via looked at Brian's back away, then sighed and sat back down.
“I'm worried about Brian, Renny is too rough on him.” Via Say.
“He harbors too much of his feelings. I know he likes Renny, loves Renny.” Andre sipped his drink.
“How do you know?”
“Hot his eyes when he saw Renny, same as the look in my eyes when I saw you first.”
“Do we have to stop it?”
“I also don't know how to.. Human feeling is the most complicated thing.”
“Then how should? I don't want them both to hurt each other. They're the same as my son.”
“I'll think how, the best for both.”
Both Andre and Via feel stuck with this. The problems her children are experiencing are more complicated than they currently think.
