First Weed went to the fountain to fill his bottle with water, then he went to the sculpture shop. It was Weed's first trip. He saw, the streets were filled with players and NPCs.
“We need paladins with levels of 17 or more.”
“Hey, man! We'll hunt to the Lasok Cave. Anyone want to join us?”
Many players crowded the streets, but none of them glanced at Weed. He did not mind, wandering around in the clothes of a novice, even without chest protection, revealing that he had not met the minimum requirements of playing the game four weeks before he could leave the Fortress.
Among the innumerable shops operating in the capital city of the Rosenheim Kingdom, and the sculpture shop held a special position.
Most ordinary adventurers could hardly remember where the sculpture shop was located because it was meaningless to them. Only a small number of players studying the Art of Sculpture would visit periodically. The sculpture shop stands right next to the jewelry store on Central Avenue, and is one of the few shops frequented by noble ladies.
The crane!
Weed entered the sculpture shop.
“Welcome. What brings you here, stranger?” The shopkeeper received the new customer with a gentle smile, until he saw Weed's clothes, instantly changing his tone.
Weed looked around the shop, and saw no other customers except him. The blacksmith's workshop or grocery store was always full up to the entrance, but the sculpture shop only served a few customers daily, if any.
However, when comparing daily income, the sculpture shop did indeed lag behind the blacksmith workshop. In other words, sculpture shops sell merchandise that is quite expensive.
Weed tidied up the collar and asked politely,
"I came here to find the answer to a question that really bothered me."
“So, you want to ask me, stranger?”
"Yes sir. If you can take a minute."
"I'm busy right now, please go."
The store owner refused him out of the blue, he sounded very upset. Since Weed's fame was zero, and he didn't know him, the store owner had the right to throw him out of the store.
"Alright sir. See you later.”
“ Goodbye.” says shopkeeper.
Weed walked back to the door. Then, he casually glanced at the statues on display.
“Really majestic!” Weed exclaimed. “The splendor of this statue awakens my soul. Did you give this to Rosenheim Kingdom?”
The shopkeeper started to soften at Weed. "Which one are you talking about, stranger?" But he still refused to acknowledge Weed as a customer.
Weed's heart began to twitch, his mouth kicked launching an exorbitant compliment, "It's beautiful. This two-headed eagle was made of pure gold. I dare not guess which master carved it, but I can feel the greatness of the engraving. Very smooth without blemish. It made it seem alive so I almost mistaken it for a real eagle. I am so blessed to visit this place. This shop deserves a high-class item. They have opened my simple eyes to the heavenly beauty descending to Earth."
Consciously or not the mouth of the shop owner forms a horizontal crescent moon. “Are you interested in sculpture, master wanderer?”
“I dare say me." Weed deliberately paused his words, "I just want to feel the peace of mind when looking at the magnificent statues, my soul is calling out to immediately become a small part of the splendor it has.”
“Come here and let's sit. the wandering master may be a good friend to drive away my boredom.”
“Thank you.”
“Do you want a cup of tea?”
“Only if you kindly offer me cold honey water. I'll settle for a cup of cold water."
"Sure! Of course I will make it.”
Weed drank honey water mixed with ice by the store owner, able to relieve the fatigue that had been piling up for the past three weeks.
"Now tell me what's bothering you so much." The shopkeeper said.
"Yes sir. But can you forgive me for asking for a short tour of the statues on display? I have a quest that requires master's guidance, but is not too urgent. To comfort my poor soul, I just want to see great works.” Weed returned to animate his acting.
“Of course you can, you can see it for as long as you want. Isn't the reason of the nice statues is to please people who know their value?” The shopkeeper agreed with a satisfied smile.
Weed felt that it had won his goodwill, which was hardly bothered by visitors and away from public attention. Suppose you ask to see various items in the grocery store the next — seconds you will be expelled.
Weed did enjoy the sculptures displayed in the storage room. He has his own agenda. I doubt mastery of the statue will make much money. The most expensive statue in existence today is worth 30 silver. Quality sculptures were made of rare stone or wood, and although the workmanship was impressive, the material itself was not expensive at first. It was nothing more than wood carving, or stone carving.
Weed knew that there would be money if he could make a giant lion statue, but he was not fooled by the difficult possibilities. What kind of nobleman with so much money would order a new statue every year? He also had to use the stairs to sculpt very well as a scluptor. A little bit of competition guarantees that it doesn't take too much effort to be the best in the industry.
Still, it is a niche market, too small to rely on. A guaranteed way to make a lot of money is to target other users as potential consumers. They always level up and demand better gear, and so on and so forth.
Firearms, magic bracelets, and magic rings are very popular with users, but sculptures are worthless to them except in rare cases.
"Waste of time, waste of money."
Weed's main goal in starting this game was to make money, with reckless capital. He looked around one last time before giving his decision about the master scluptor.
"Skills are worth even one percent of 100." Weed sat across from the shop owner.
"Now, what are you looking for?" The shopkeeper asked again.
“I'm interested in legend stories. Some say that someone had carved a moonlight in the Royal Palace 50 years ago. I want to know about the truth.” Weed said.
“Oh the legend! This is a legendary story that has been passed down through generations by the ancestors of the scluptor class. I also heard it from some trusted protectors of the Royal Court."
Weed thought that carving the moonlight was impossible, like other urban legends, but the sculptor shop owner also learned of the rumors claimed by the instructor in the Training Hall and testified to the truth.
Quest Done!
A mysterious master scluptor is rumored to have visited the Royal Palace.
The rumors that reached the instructor's ears actually happened. A sculptor carves moonlight, but in secret, is famous among the residents of Serebourg.
Quest Reward: Go back to the instructor to claim it.
Weed grinned widely. After all, this was a simple quest with the lowest difficulty level E. Another story is, if he can not be friends with the store owner, the problem can be complicated.
How he completed the mission, the next step was to return to the Training Hall and earn a reward from the instructor. As Weed looked for the right moment to say goodbye and leave, the shopkeeper, who had been lost in thought, finally spoke.
“I've never heard how he carved moonlight.”
“Did the visitors of the Royal Court not tell the master about it?”
“Hmm, they omitted her with her exaggerated rumors. They refused to tell me the truth. They called Queen Evane of Rosenheim, may her soul rest in peace, involved in the event. Can you help me and investigate this, so that my curiosity is fulfilled? "
The Sculptor's Quest!
Rumor has it that Queen Evane was involved in the events when the scluptor appeared in the Royal Palace and carved out moonlight. The shopkeeper from the sculpture shop was wondering what kind of relationship there was between the two of them.
Difficulty Level: E
Warning: If you are found to be investigating such rumors, you will be exposed to the hostility of the Royal Knights.
Weed's fist trembled with excitement. “This, this is a chain quest.”
Even when the difficulty level of a quest is very low, the reward rate will increase in the case of a chain quest. The more stages you complete, the harder the quest will be, and most chain quests will likely overwhelm Weed at his current level to complete them.
The only quest Weed could complete was the one inside the Citadel, gathering information from others.
“I'm still incompetent. I'm afraid it might not be worth it to accept your request sir.” Weed said.
“I'm sure you're ready for this task. Your prudence will lead the way to salvation.”Answer the shopkeeper.
"If master says so, I will accept it sincerely" Weed said.
You have received a quest.
“Thank you, traveller. First find a bard with knowledge of ancient tales and street gossip. Ask about Queen Evane. Watch out! This matter is very sensitive, so you must not cause any problems that could cause the defamation of the Royal Family."
"I'll remember always, sir."
...* * *...
Weed walked leisurely while humming, he headed straight to a bar across the street.
"Good day." After returning a greeting from a servant, Weed looked around to find a bard. There are some conditions that must be met. First, he counted player bards as he searched for the right man. It is a remarkable occurrence that every palyer had heard of the events that took place in the Royal Palace half a century earlier. Weed would be better off finding Serabourgian natives, maybe old people.
Whether he could sing a ballad well or not, what he was looking for was a reliable bard in terms of worldly gossip. Weed stopped at several tables until he found a bard that lived up to his expectations. It was a middle-aged bard in his 40s, he had a lot of reputation and charm. Proudly Weed approached the bard.
“Thank you for the good song, sir. Please forgive me for bothering you, but I'd like to ask you a few questions. Do you know what happened fifty years ago in the Royal Court of Rosenheim?”
The bard pushed his palm forward and Weed did not understand what was implied by this move. He frowned deeply, his mouth twitching withstanding the determination that he would not waste a penny.
“Your voice is charming, sir. I appreciate your talent in writing such heart-wrenching music lyrics. Also the skill of the master in playing music is very fascinating.”
“…”
“I'm sure you have broken the hearts of many Serabourg girls when you were still a brilliant young bard and were at the peak of your career. Of course, I'm sure even now you still steal the hearts of many women. For a bard, adventure and romance are everything. I also love romance.”
The old bard stomped the table rudely, “I'm sick of hearing cheap compliments from people like you, strangers. Show me the money, or go.”
Weed pondered for a moment. “Do I have to give up on a quest halfway? After all, the quest did not punish me even if I decided to stop. But maybe it'll give me an unexpected gift later, and I don't like to miss a gift."
Weed's hand slipped into his pocket and picked up the coin before he realized his mistake. Two silvers! There were only two silver coins in his pocket. It was all that the instructor had given him as a restency fee for the previous quest.
The bard took the silver coin from Weed's palm.
It was a spele mistake that he forgot to exchange his money into bronze coins earlier.
"I can't believe I made such a silly mistake!" Weed's body trembled in unwillingness.
"Hmph, it's a secret, so you have to keep it a secret." Whisper that bard. "Queen Evan and Master Scluptor have been intimate since childhood."
“What do you mean by intimate terms?” Weed frowned.
"Basic stupid! What is the relationship like especially between men and women, yes obviously they love each other.”
"Points earned." Weed now realized why the rumors should remain a secret in the Royal Court.
Given that the former Queen's holy name is mentioned in the embarrassing matter. The Royal Knight would be willing to silence anyone at any cost to keep his honor awake.
The bard looked around the bar and whispered softly, “They were born in the same village, grew up together and loved each other. The boy's name was Zahab. The Queen always carries her sculptural ornaments when she was a child, dreaming of becoming his wife someday. Unfortunately, fate played them. The Queen was elected Queen of the Kingdom and Zahab left her. But actually, it's a promise between them."
“What promise, if I may know?” Weed was getting curious.
“Zahab promises to make the queen the most beautiful moonlight statue under the night sky.”
“I don't think that's true. The queen must have many beautiful and magnificent statues in her residence."
“No, he hid it. Years later, Zahab came to the Royal Palace. Ancestors said upon seeing her work, the queen was deeply moved, saying that it was the most beautiful work of moonlight sculpture ever."
"Then visit the maid who was a real witness of the day's events, and listen to the next story. So far this is all I can say because I also heard it from others.”
“Is he still alive?”
"Yes." Yeah." Bard told Weed the way to the maid's house.
Weed went to visit him. His person had retired, and when Weed mentioned Queen Evane and the scluptor, he greeted her with a big smile.
“Your Majesty is a virtuous and well mannered woman. So, do you want to hear about what happened back then?"
"Yes tell me."
“You found the right person to ask. I am the personal servant of Her Majesty the Queen. At first he hated Zahab-nim when he visited the palace."
“Why is that so, if I can know?”
“He reneged on his promise. When they were young, they promised, Zahab-nim will present His Holiness a most beautiful moonlight statue. But when he appeared in the palace, he was instead carrying a sword instead of a carving knife. In everyone's eyes, he looked like a sword master. You should have witnessed how disappointed Her Majesty was back then. He had great confidence in Zahab-nim. Even if the world were turned upside down, he would still believe it and the sacred promise between them."
“…”
“On that day, the Kingdom of Brent bordering Rosenheim sent a group of assassins. They reveal a dangerous ambition to seize our Kingdom. How shocked I was when the assassins stormed in and attacked Zahab-nim and His Majesty in the palace garden."
"That evil bastard!" Weed growled with anger.
“Yes, you're right, those cunning criminals should receive a reward. Returning to the topic of discussion, some Royal Knights were trapped, thus unable to protect us. His Majesty is cornered. Zahab-nim is the one who protects him. His Majesty warned him to leave. But Zahab-nim just smiled."
Weed was inexhaustible and muttered inwardly, "He smiled in the middle of such a precarious situation?"
“Zahab-nim says will show him the most beautiful moonlight statue. To everyone's surprise, moonlight appeared slowly from Zahab-nim's sword. Her beauty is incredible. He hummed while carving. I can't remember the lyrics. Just remembering the title was A Sculptor's Heart. Listening to the song, Yang Mulia was teary-eyed. It was truly the most beautiful statue ever. But although Zahab-nim only carved his name on wood, His Majesty would consider it the most beautiful statue in the world, but I say, the scenery he carved with moonlight is truly a heavenly work. The assassins were bewitched by the sight. Zahab-nim has kept his promise. Years passed, I still vividly remember those heartwarming memories."
Then, a mysterious flashback appeared before Weed's eyes.
The notice!
A boy held a small carving knife in his hand.
The knife slid to and fro, forming a piece of wood into a thing.
It seemed like he was carving out a beautiful little girl.
Through his skill, that piece of wood looked like it was real.
A girl who was embarrassed was looking at him.
The boy's hand moved the carving knife with a serious face.
The girl seemed to love everything about him.
The boy finished the statue and handed it to the girl in front of him who was similar to his carving.
“For now, all I can do is carve wood. But someday, I will give you the most beautiful statue in the world.”
“Thank you Zahab. I'm looking forward to it."
The boy and girl made a promise by wrapping around the little finger.
When she was an adult, she was very beautiful. Which finally caught the King's attention. She became Queen. But the girl was not happy at all.
Queen Evane was not even smiling the day Zahab came back to see her. For Zahab carried a sword, not a carving knife. They walk in the park. The queen clasped the thorny rose tightly, she did not care even though her hands were bleeding.
“Why did you forget our promise? Your promise is everything to me.”
The Queen was disappointed by the forgotten promise. That night, assassins from the Brent kingdom attacked the palace.
The Knights of Rosenheim Kingdom were killed one after another. He and the Queen fear an inevitable death. Zahab began to play his sword with the moonlight dancing at the end.
Quest Done!
The Sculptor's Past!
The promise between the boy and the girl was fulfilled. A bluish moonlight appeared, which eventually defeated the assassins. The Moonlight Sculptor Zahab. His Scluptor mastery had reached the stage of the Master presenting the most beautiful statue to his childhood friend.
Level Up!
Level Up!
To Weed's surprise his level rose twice in a single quest, and that wasn't the end. The message window appears again. Surprisingly once again, it was a classroom window.
Profession offer!
You can enter the Legendary Moonlight Sculptor class. If you accept it, you can learn skills exclusive to classes that are not given in another elementary class.
Do you want to get into Moonlight Sculptor?
An infinite number of users would find a secret class in Royal Road, but only one percent of a thousand people could find it.
Weed replied loudly, "I refuse
Class Change!"
Please confirm your decision.
Do you want to get into Moonlight Sculptor?
"I refuse!"
For Weed, being stuck in a corner and making unwanted sculptures was meaningless. He has to admit that being a sculptor can be a fun class if trained properly. But he needed a financially rewarding class for his personal gain. When Weed came to his senses, the old lady's servant was watching him.
“It was an amazing story. Thank you very much for your time.”
"Either. I am happy to tell their story like this. So, young adventurer, I want to give you a small gift. Will you accept it?”
Isn't it not good to refuse a gift out of goodwill? Weed was not that cruel by refusing anything offered to him. A man should receive any gift with gratitude.
"I'll gladly accept it."
The old lady's servant took something bundled from inside the drawer, resembling an ancient carving knife.
“This chisel knife used to belong to Zahab-nim. He handed it to Her Majesty the Queen, and I happen to keep it now. And this wooden statue was carved by Zahab-nim. Please takeah.” said the maid.
"I will really appreciate your gift" Weed said.
He received two items from her.
You have received the Engraving Knife!
You have received the Inheritance of Zahab!
Weed thought that these items were unusual because they were left behind by one of the Master Scluptor. Even the wooden statue was at first glance classy.
“Please save the knife engrave mr Zahab with care.”
“Good.”
Weed thought that this might sell and make a good profit.
“That wooden statue will show where the resting place of Zahab-nim is located. I hope his sculptural mastery won't be buried again."
"I hope so too."
"I wish I could hear the singing of that day again. The secret about the master scluptor was hidden in that carving knife."
"meaning?"
"In the knife carved Zahab."
Just then Weed looked towards the carving knife, he had a premonition that an inevitable destiny was approaching him.
Follow Zahab's Last Wish!
Zahab did not die that day. He went to a distant continent to test his Master Scluptor. After you graduate in Scluptor class, you should look for Zahab to learn A Sculpture's Heart from him. Then, you should come back here and sing it to this old lady's servant. Rumor has it that Zahab was last seen heading for the Grey Pass region.
Difficulty: A
Quest Requirements: You must complete the quest before the old lady's servant dies. Cancellation is not allowed.
Rewards: You can learn the Skill Identification Item, Sculpture Mastery, Repair Skill, and Handicraft Skill.
A chain quest with difficulty A, awarding four skills. Weed did not know if he was lucky or otherwise.
One thing he knew was that it was very difficult to acquire skills unrelated to his own class. Skills like Item identification and Repair Skill he could learn without moving to a scluptor class, could be useful in various ways, but level A quest far surpassed his abilities for a long time, maybe years.
The average level for a Royal Road player was currently around 100. Highest level in the 300s. Quest difficulty is at the same level as a level 300 user who can even just complete a level B quest.
That meant Weed had just received a quest that required him to reach level 400 more to be able to continue the quest, let alone complete it.
As if that wasn't enough, the Grey Pass region was the most dangerous of the dangerous areas, inhabited by the most powerful monsters. This is one of the top Ten Forbidden Areas in the continent, where you will die without a remnant while stepping into the area.
"Damn." Weed hissed in the heart.
The number of quests that a player can save is only three four quests. Now that one of them had been occupied by Zahab's Last Wish quest, Weed only had two slots for new quests.
But in the case of chain quests, it is unpredictable what rewards players will get. This chain quest introduced a secret class at the second stage. Even after she refused to enter the classroom, she was given four practical skills. Imagine what the gift in the final stage will look like.
Weed wasn't stupid to say no at a good opportunity. However, it remains unknown when and how this will end.
He bid farewell to the old lady's maid, and returned to the sculpture shop.
“Ohh Weed, I appreciate your hard work to give me results so quickly. I am once again sure it was the right decision to entrust this quest to you.” The shopkeeper greeted him cheerfully.
The shopkeeper paid Weed as a reward for the quest.
Weed received 2 silver coins, recovering the silver coins that had been robbed by the bard.
When he returned to the Training Hall, he received another silver coin, along with a word of praise from the instructor. Therefore, a total of 5 silver Weed had obtained so far.
He also levelled up twice, to level 3. He distributes stat bonus points earned equally to AGI and STR.
“Why don't you take another quest?” he asked himself.
Weed was tempted by the seduction, but he picked up the wooden sword again. A quest that was kept secret to the public similar to the quest he had just performed, was rare. That was why Weed got such a big reward for his level.
