The morning was pitch-dark, the sound of thunder, thunder. Icha and Daniel sat at the dinner table.
"The lightning rod is serem ya Pa" Icha said as she chewed on the mes jes sandwich she made herself. Because Rani did not go down to make toast Daniel and Icha's favorite menu.

I was Pamit Umi in her room, Umi had no spirit. He was curled up with the blanket still covering his body.
