CH. 38 – Third Pavilion
Haku was still wriggling spoiled in his place. His body swayed slowly, his head nodded and the entire eyes on his body flickered in rhythm. It was as if he was begging Zhou Fu to come to him and give him a gentle swab in the head.
Meanwhile, Zhou Fu and Shen Shen Shen were looking at the creature from 20 meters away. Seeing Haku's expectant gaze, Shen Shen nudged Zhou Fu's arm to invite him away. It could be, it could be that the huge creature was just pretending, Shen Shen thought.
Zhou Fu parried Shen Shen's hand slowly, asking him to hide if frightened yet Shen Shen shook his head. In fact, hiding and being away from Zhou Fu felt even scarier to Shen Shen. Haku are not the only creatures that may inhabit the Luzon Sea. At least that was what haunted Shen Shen's mind until the woman was reluctant to go all the way from Zhou Fu.
‘Alright, stay here and just hold on to my elbow!’ zhou Fu's orders in sign language were instantly reciprocated by Shen Shen's manyun lips. The woman was still hoping that Zhou Fu would obey her to get away from the sea monster with a thousand eyes.
Zhou Fu did not respond to Shen Shen's sour face, but instead tried to point his eyes at Haku's two eyes that were on the head. When Zhou Fu's eyes looked at each other with Haku's eyes, Zhou Fu felt like his heart was stung by something. Not a painful sting, but a strange turmoil that suddenly arises and disturbs the mind.
It was like having a memory lost, then the memory came very suddenly, but then failed to exist as a memory. The result is, a foreign turmoil that arises in the chest and radiates to the two soles of the feet and hands, giving rise to a shock similar to the feeling of people who goosebumps seeing height.
Not so with Haku. The creature showed no reaction other than the wink of his eyes. Zhou Fu then closed his eyes as he shook his head violently, like someone who was holding back the dizziness in his head. Zhou Fu opened his eyes again and tried to put aside the foreign turmoil that had appeared in his chest.
It was just a coincidence! Inner Zhou Fu to neutralize his mind that had been a little confused and shocked.
Zhou Fu tried to look into Haku's eyes with a friendly look, then his right hand stuck out and made a gesture inviting Haku to approach. Zhou Fu's hand movements were quite slow and calm, it was done to give the impression to Haku if he no longer wanted to fight.
Haku's eyes seemed to follow the slow wave of Zhou Fu's hand, after looking stunned for a while, Haku grinned and slowly bent his tail fin to get closer to Zhou Fu. Zhou Fu and Shen Shen Shen's Heart Degup showed a drastic change, the two of them were clearly holding back a sense of worry. Honestly speaking, Zhou Fu acknowledged Haku's superiority. If Haku was willing to attack Zhou Fu, he had no plan yet on how to avoid it.
Haku was getting closer and closer, until now his head was only a meter away from Zhou Fu and Shen Shen Shen. It was a safe distance to make Zhou Fu unperturbed by Haku's breathing that sucked in and poured out water profusely.
Haku bowed his head, as if giving Zhou Fu a chance to get close and put his hand on Haku's forehead. Zhou Fu approached slightly to rub his palm on Haku's forehead while Shen Shen remained tied to Zhou Fu's elbow.
One swipe, two strokes, three strokes. Zhou Fu stopped the swab of his hand, then retreated another meter and asked Haku to raise his head. Haku did not comply but chose to lean his head on Zhou Fu's body. Making Zhou Fu come into direct contact with Haku's head and the other Haku murmurs.
Can we ride you? Zhou Fu asked Haku with body language.
Haku seemed to be grinning happily. His head nodded as he closed his eyes slowly starting from the neck, body, to the tail. A very beautiful scenery similar to the blackout show of a thousand lanterns that move rhythmically.
Shen Shen shuddered in amazement at the prowess of the sea creatures he had never read from any history book. Shen Shen Shen's mouth almost gaped, but he hurriedly remembered that he was still inside the ocean.
Hap!!!
Zhou Fu moved agilely up Haku's forehead while pulling Shen Shen's hand to join him. Zhou Fu sat cross-legged on Haku's forehead whose surface was irregular, occasionally he rubbed Haku's brow hair that was as long as his own hair. After everything was ready, Zhou Fu pointed in a direction to ask Haku to swim in that direction.

Humping on Haku's forehead, Zhou Fu and Shen Shen Shen's journey towards the third Pavilion only took less than five minutes. Zhou Fu and Shen Shen Shen came down from Haku's forehead and asked the creature to quietly wait as they found out the contents of the third scroll inside the mouth of the lion statue.
Unlike the first and second statues, Shen Shen did not find the shape of the lion's fangs, which indicates that it was the lever. Shen Shen tried to shake one fang after another at the mouth of the lion statue but still nothing happened. Zhou Fu removed Shen Shen's hand from the mouth of the lion statue, trying to take a turn to find the fangs that opened the lion's mouth.
After several attempts, Zhou Fu tried to close his eyes. He was concentrating on collecting fragments of memories on the sightings of lions in the first and second pavilions. Moments after his eyes closed, Zhou Fu opened his eyes abruptly, as if he had discovered something extremely precious.
Sure enough, what Zhou Fu was looking for really existed. Lotus Flower Pavilion, that was the name of the pavilion that was within the sinking civilization. The first, second and third pavilions alike had lion statues propped up on the roof. Strange enough indeed, why named the lotus flower if the symbol shown is the head of a lion.
Thanks to that oddity, Zhou Fu had observed every inch of the lion head statue in each pavilion. And, Zhou Fu's eyes did find something unusual, there was a lotus flower on the top of the lion's forehead, precisely on the left side just above the mane of the lion's hair. The first and second pavilions only had one flower each. The third pavilion has three flowers.
Despite having the same number of flowers, the lotus in the first and second pavilions actually has a difference. The difference lies in the number of petals of the lotus flower. And, it seemed, the number of lotus petals was the same as the answer key of the number fangs to how many served as levers.
Zhou Fu's feathers goosebumps together. Quickly he counted the number of each lotus petal on the lion's head, there were three flowers with different numbers of odd petals. After counting everything, Zhou Fu closed his eyes for a moment, then reopened them and pulled out Shen Shen's one hand. Zhou Fu placed Shen Shen's hand on one lion's fang, and his own two hands on two lion fangs.
Shen Shen Shen's fists wrinkled, but he complied when Zhou Fu asked him to pull the fangs together with the two fangs that Zhou Fu gripped.
Kory!!!!
Zhou Fu's guess was completely right. The lotus petals are the numbering symbols given by people in past civilizations. The lion's head opened slowly, and at the same time brought up something inside.
