The Desire to Be Eternal

The Desire to Be Eternal
Chapter 19: The Legend of the Weasel

The comfortable life of an Outer Sect disciple on Fragrant Cloud Peak was great for Bai Xiaochun. Although he missed the delicious food he could access in the Oven, everything else was quite satisfying.

In terms of his progress in cultivation, and his research on plants and vegetation, he really felt as if he was living life to the fullest. The only downside was that his courtyard residence was relatively far away, and there was no one around to chat with, so he was sometimes bored.

"Could all farmers be so lonely?" he thought, sighing as he stood there in the courtyard looking up into the sky. Somehow, he felt much older and more mature.

Autumn winds had passed, and snow began to fall occasionally, causing the temperature to drop significantly. Snowflakes floated in the air, and the winter bamboo in Bai Xiaochun's courtyard grew strong and healthy. They were now taller than Bai Xiaochun himself, and were emerald green in color. They are like spring splashes in the cold of winter.

A month had passed since he placed first on the first stone inscription of plants and herbs. However, the volume of both plants and vegetation was much more difficult than he had anticipated, causing his research to slow down. But that did not change the most important thing to him, namely Zhou Xinqi had never taken back the first place on the first stone inscription. Unfortunately, Bai Xiaochun still felt a lot of pressure to be able to bring together all the incomplete medicinal herbs that he had not been able to obtain before.

“I have an incredible reputation now.I can't let that shaman, Zhou Xinqi, surpass me. " Since then, Bai Xiaochun decided that he would continue to work harder and harder until he reached his secret goal of being able to proudly announce in front of everyone that he was the Apothecary Turtle.

Although his progress with the volume of both plants and vegetation was slow, the cultivation of the immortal Eternal Life Technique was rapidly approaching the point where he would be able to achieve a full small circulation.

Although the pain continued to worsen, Bai Xiaochun remained fully focused on the terms 'dead' and 'live forever'.

"Three more days. According to the description of the Eternal Life Technique, in three days I will be able to complete a small circulation. " Bai Xiaochun took a deep breath, gritted his teeth, and continued to speed around his courtyard, simultaneously studying the volume of both plants and vegetation.

Three days passed quickly. On the night of the third day, snow began to fall, covering the Spirit Stream Sect with a glittering silver blanket.

Bai Xiaochun was in the middle of running when a tremor hit him, and he suddenly stopped in place. The pain he had experienced for the past eighty-one days suddenly disappeared.

A stream of heat burst through him, fused in his skin, which felt like baking in an oven.

The snowflakes melted before they could even approach him, instantly turning into a white mist.

"It worked!" he exclaimed with joy, even though his throat was dry. Although he felt like he was burning, when he looked down, he saw a black light flowing over his skin, which circulated around him and then disappeared.

He then poked his arm with his right hand, and could tell how difficult it was. His eyes shone, and slightly shook his arms and legs. Instantly, he could tell that he was much faster than before. He started running forward, then screamed in shock as he appeared several meters away in the blink of an eye.

He could now move twice as fast as before. Totally happy, Bai Xiaochun ran a little to test his new speed, and was very satisfied.

Without any more hesitation, he used the mnemonic Eternal Life Technique No Longer to continue practicing cultivation. The new method includes covering her mouth and nose and then trying to breathe through her skin. Inhalation and exhalation are counted as minor cycles. He needed to practice eighty-one small cycles per day for eighty-one days to complete the small circulation.

If he could achieve that, then, combined with the painful little circulation that he had completed, he would make his initial success in obtaining the Undead Skin.

After practicing a few times, Bai Xiaochun gained his skills and struggled to get through one small cycle. After that, his body seemed much thinner.

He also felt extremely hungry, and a gurgling sound rang out from his stomach. He ignored that, and continued to breathe, causing his body to grow thinner. After breathing in and out fifteen times, his body appeared to be nothing more than a bag of bones.

It was as if all the nutrients that were inside him had been sucked out of it. However, his skin looked even tougher than before.

Bai Xiaochun could not take it anymore. His vision faded, and his eyes turned green due to the indescribable hunger that filled him. He was so hungry that he could eat an elephant in one bite.

"It's not working, I'm starving to death !!" He looked around, salivating, only to realize that nothing was eaten in the area except the green bamboo he had planted, which currently looked quite attractive.

Unable to resist due to the overwhelming hunger, he drove up to the winter bamboo and picked up one of them.

A crackling sound could be heard as he tore off a large piece and began to chew on it. After swallowing, his face twisted, and he shivered due to its bitter taste.

Racing down the mountain road at high speed, he would occasionally meet with the other Outer Sect disciples. To them, it felt like the wind was blowing past their bodies, and they turned dumbstruck to stare at Bai Xiaochun who was running off into the distance.

He dashed down the mountain, into the servant district and headed straight for the Oven. Not wanting to waste time opening the door, he flew past the main gate.

The Oven crew is in the middle of cooking. Now that Big Fatty Zhang and Third Fatty Hei had already left, the Second Fatty Huang had become the leader. He was currently scooping the rice porridge into the bowl, when suddenly the wind blew on his face, and the bowl was gone, to be replaced by Bai Xiaochun's gaping mouth.

"Huh?" The second Fatty Huang was startled, and stood there gaping for a moment. Before anyone could say anything, Bai Xiaochun grabbed one of the nearby woks and started dropping it. It seemed that it was not enough, as he then simply buried his head into the frying pan, drying the rice porridge ….

One skillet, two pans, three pans …. Bai Xiaochun quickly drank a hundred porridge pans. He was like an abyss, and still did not feel close to fullness.

"Still hungry! This doesn't work! I'm so hungry .. I need meat! " He looked around frantically and quickly saw the mountains of meat that were his elder brothers.

The fatties from the Oven looked at Bai Xiaochun in shock. They had seen hungry people before, but had never seen someone this bright. It was like the ghost of someone who had died of starvation.

Then they realized that he was staring at them and salivating. The two Fatty Huangs suddenly retreated quickly, simultaneously shouting, "Ninth Fatty, hurry, there are some spirit foods in the kitchen that we prepared for Elder Zhou!"

Bai Xiaochun's eyes gleamed, and he immediately headed for the kitchen.

Outside, Second Fatty Huang and the others exchanged disappointed looks.

"Did you see that? That was the destiny for those people who became disciples of the Outer Sect. Look how hungry Junior Brother is…. ”

"You can beat me to death before I agree to become an Outer Sect disciple!" The other fatty was all fully determined to hold fast to their decision, even though they felt bad for Bai Xiaochun.

Right now, Bai Xiaochun was doing his best to control himself and obey the six lines of truth from the Oven. He would just bite off the edges, and not eat the whole thing. After all, if he broke the rules, it could have implications for his Sisters, which was something he would never do.

After drinking the porridge and biting the edge of the spirit food, Bai Xiaochun's hunger had lessened a bit. He could handle it now, so he walked out of the kitchen, wanting to cry but unable to find any tears. This Undead Immortal Life Technique was simply too terrifying. Although he did not have to face the pain now, the hunger was enough to make people angry.

"Second Elder Brother ..." he said, staring uneasily at the Second Fatty Huang.

Seeing Bai Xiaochun looking normal again, Fatty Huang finally felt relieved. He walked over and patted her on the shoulder in sympathy.

"Little Junior Sister, don't worry. Thankfully, we have prepared food for Elder Zhou. Look how hungry you are! Ai. From now on, you come back more often to fill up, okay? ”

Bai Xiaochun was very touched. However, he gritted his teeth and decided that he would do the opposite. After all, one day if he ever reached the point where he lost control, he might end up cleaning up the entire Oven ….

Both Fatty Huang and the others escorted him out, and Bai Xiaochun sighed continuously as he walked back to the Fragrant Cloud Peak. Suddenly, the overwhelming and carefree feeling from before disappeared, replaced by despair. He was really afraid of starving to death right now.

“I wonder if there really were some Spirit Stream Sect disciples who died of starvation in the past. " Sadly frowning, he was in the midst of trying to figure out a way to solve the food and hunger problem when suddenly he heard a rooster crowing in the distance.

The voice caused him to stop on the spot and slowly turn his head to stare towards the crow.

"Chicken …." Looking around to make sure that no one was watching him, he lowered his head to the nearby bushes, disappearing with a whooshing sound. Then he started sneaking around like a ferret.

A moment later, he appeared outside the fence surrounding Fragrant Cloud Peak spirit fowl farm. Inside was a group of chickens that walked back and forth, as big as a calf, with a three-colored tail. Bai Xiaochun looked at them with sparkling eyes, and began to salivate.

"Meats.." he muttered, then started to chuckle, a strange voice that, when coupled with a wide smile, was truly terrifying.
