Someone just stopped his car right at the gate of the Seoul regional police headquarters. He seemed to be thinking, doing a short meditation with a deep sigh, communicating with his heart and mind. Upon completion, he took his belongings in the passenger seat, opened his car door and stepped out confidently. Just three meters away he was walking, a man with a rabbit-like smile walked up to him.
“Good Morning, are you Professor Eric Sohn, from KAIST Toxicology department?”
“Pagi. Yes, right.”
“I'm Kim Dean, Seoul police detective. It's nice to meet you. Investigative chairman Mark Tuan is waiting, will I inter”
The two walked towards the special room on the third floor of the police station. Professor Eric looked at every corner of the room he passed critically, listening to random chatter from Dean. That guy likes to talk. Whatever is talked about, starting from the taste attributes and origins of the coffee that they are
drink this morning, until the latest development of the case is underway. Professor Eric faithfully listened, like a father hearing the story of his Junior High. Their steps came to a halt in front of a room on the right corner of the building's wing.
“Please enter, Prof.” Dean said as he opened the door of the room. Mark, Jeffrey, and Doctor Lee were slightly gasped at the Professor's arrival.
“Oh, Professor Eric. It's good to see you back. Introduce this Jung Jeffrey, CSI chairman, Doctor Lee Taeyong, Head of Itaewon Forensic Laboratory, and he's Kim Dean, Seoul police detective.” Sapa Mark is friendly, shaking hands.
“Good Morning, I am Professor Eric from KAIST Toxicology Department, hopefully we can cooperate well.” replied Professor Eric while smiling kindly to everyone in the room.
Professor Eric then joined in, sitting on a chair arranged with the letter U formation. He then prepared with his tools and work support files. Five minutes later, the five men in the room were ready with laptops, projectors, smartphones, and some papers in front of them.
“Good. Welcome, Professor Eric on the Daegu International School Mass Death Case Investigation Team, April 16, 2016. We will report in advance, the latest developments from the forensic team which further relates to your expertise in the field of toxicology.” Dean said.
“Good, first of all, I will explain the methods, processes, and results of autopsies of dozens of victims' bodies in each location is different.”
“Secondly, I will explain the analysis of the findings of food samples on that day.”
Taeyong then immediately stepped towards the projector screen that already displayed the presentation of the results of his analysis. Then he explained in detail the methods, processes, and results of the autopsy of dozens of victims' bodies two days ago, plus the results of the analysis of PCR and GC-MS food samples on that day.
“Is the residue of the substance found in equal quantities in each corpse?” ask Eric after Taeyong
finished with the presentation.
“Different, but the standard deviation is quite low.”
“Then how much is the concentration in the food sample?”
“In liquid food, it is estimated to be about 10 ppm, while in solid food samples about 100 ppb.” replied Taeyong convinced.
“I need a sample of that substance today, me and the team will identify the compound in 3 days. My current hypothesis, most likely this is food crime, adulteration, or spoilage”

“One marigold, lavender, and blueberry tisane, and one set whole rice cakes.” Mark mentioned his order at the order place a teashop that was quite quiet that afternoon. Shortly before paying, he remembered his junior standing at the right behind him. Kim Dean who always asked for the treat by him wherever and wherever it is. Looking at the sensitive Mark and looking at him, Dean lifted his lips 270 degrees, grinning a perfect smile. “Ck, sucks.”—bat Mark.
“Dean, what do you want to order?” ask Mark coldly. Dean seemed to think.
“One iced americano, same desert with him, please.” replied Dean who was met with a terrible sharp gaze ala Mark. Coffee addicts can order coffee at a special tea.
“OK sir, 19000 won.”
They walked to the second floor and stopped at the corner table with a view of Seoul at lunchtime. Dean just followed Mark's steps, because this was the first time he had come to this place. Dean admits that this place is really Mark's style. Lonely, classy, quality, and weird. Yes, strange, the interior design of this place is like a blend of 6 concepts—industrial, classic, gothic, minimalist, and tropical— in one harmony. Do not forget the indoor garden with dozens of types of flowers in it, making Dean feel quite feminine.
“Kak, how did you know there was a place like this? And just now, what kind of drink did you order? Have you been a flower eater so you have a very glowing and healthy skin, not to mention your body is very good.” asked Dean at length right moment landed on the chair. Speech speed is already
like rapper Stray Kidz, JYP Entertainment's up-and-coming boy group.
“Only technologically and intuitive humans will understand.” replied the arrogant Mark.
Dean rolled his eyeballs lazily, I don't know how many hundred times he heard Mark boast of himself like that since college to become a working partner.
“You're so freak, brother. Alien.”
“I like weirdness. But I'm not a flower-eater, you think I'm a beetle?”
“Lantas was?”
“That herbal drink. Edible flower's. The only healthy drink you know is coffee. Quickly your brain is brown, opaque, and contains dregs.” Mark replied in a mocking tone.
“Badness!” swearing Dean in a voice was slowed down, because a waitress had just come to deliver their order. Hmm, keep an important image for a Kim Dean who incidentally is Mottae Solo.
“Kak, there is something I want to ask.”
“Leave just ask.”
“Professor Eric Sohn. Who the hell is he? Well, he's a toxicologist, I know. But why do you trust him so much? Usually you will research and become a paparazzi for everyone you will ask for cooperation.”
“Don't I have said in the beginning, I know him from a mass food poisoning case five years ago?”
“OK. But I dug up information about him overnight, after Jeffrey informed me that he would help with the investigation. He is no longer a permanent researcher at KAIST for the past four years. His name is not listed there.” said Dean casually while occasionally sipping his tissue. Mark's attention was a little distracted from his activities to reach the rice cake.
“No affiliation with anyone. Private labs? I also did not find his identity in the Ministry of Research and Technology database. You know, to make a lab like that, the bureaucracy isn't fooling around. Everything is recorded transparently and in real time. One more thing, how did he verify his skills for 4 years? If He is not affiliated with anyone?” continued Dean. His explanation this time managed to make Mark put his chopsticks, and looked at Dean seriously. He knew that even though Dean seemed not serious and talkative, his intuition and assumptions could not be ignored.
“Lantas?” asked Mark briefly with an inexplicable look.
“I don't trust him even 60. We work for the government, society, with full legality. How can we work with someone who—say is unclear.” Dean final, then reply eyebrow force by Mark.
