Can technology replace teachers in education?
Regarding the problems that arise now, there are still many people who rely more on technology. This can be seen because of the emergence of this Era 4.0 era which is able to turn everything into an all-digital, instant, and easy. All sectors of education, culture, and social collaboration are progress and ease to date. Many of the jobs of human beings have been replaced by technological sophistication, for example teachers. Teachers are now faced with the presence of technology that inevitably the role of technology that will take the role of teacher. For example, Google's information technology has a wider and unlimited information power in all corners of the world. This is because the information from everything in the world is accommodated in one google search engine. This is what makes Google like a god for its consumers. Another example is the emergence of robots that are able to express and work like humans, and the role of teachers and even workers will be replaced by him.
The problem that arises until now is "is the role of the teacher still useful with the passage of sophisticated technology in this era?", "Can teachers rival the ability of google ?".
All of that can be answered if we understand the relationship between teachers and technology. The teacher is an educator who is in charge of conveying materials, concepts, science, reason, and character education in one container. The task of the teacher here means to convey what he has to his students with the aim of transferring the knowledge he gets. One important aspect that teachers must have is teacher competence.
Teacher competence is some indicators that can be used as a measure of the characteristics of teachers who are considered professionally competent. This means that competent teachers are those who are able to master and implement these indicators into real life.
Based on the existing law, a teacher must have 4 main components, namely the trading component, the personality component, the professional component and the social component.
First, the trading component is the ability or skills in learning and teaching in the classroom, such as the characteristics of children, the learning theory used, how to communicate and others.
Second, is the component of personality, meaning that the character that reflects a teacher in front of the students and the personality must be positive to be in harmony with character education.
Fourth, is social competence, which is related to communication skills, behave and interact, be it with learners, fellow teachers or fellow humans.
So is the role of the teacher still useful with the passage of sophisticated technology in this era?" Certainly yes, between teachers and technology can not run by itself. This is because each of them has advantages and weaknesses in teachers and technology. Technology cannot work without people using it. Likewise, teachers will not be optimal in their work if not coupled with technology. Thus, the application of cooperation in the role of teachers and technology in one sector will be tapered if they collaborate.
This application can be done by teachers with the mastery of technology to improve professional competence and teacher performance. For example, teachers use LCD projectors to teach with the aim of giving students an overview of learning materials to be easier to understand.
Can teachers compete with Google's capabilities ?
Of course you can, but only at certain points. One of them is to form character education that can only be done by teachers. If we look at the ability to collect information, of course Google will definitely win. Actually between google and teachers is an equal and the same thing that does not need to be debated.
Remember that the role of the teacher has a quite heavy task, not only responsible to the participants of the students, but also all humanity and even the country. Similarly, with the development of technology, its role in helping teachers is endless. However, there is a reason why teachers cannot be replaced by technology.
The first reason is, teachers are able to teach their students about character education that has never been taught by technology (google). Character education is important in the purpose of teachers to teach students after science. With character education will certainly give birth to people who are intellectual, moral and ethical.
