I took Aunt Jelita to a park that was quiet enough for us to speak freely. It could have been in the car, but I think we need some fresh air now so our hearts and minds can be a little bit more relieved.
"Tan Diminum." I thrust out a bottle of cold mineral water that I just bought at the stalls around the park.
Aunt Jelita received her without speaking and immediately gulped her until there was little left. It's true that I think we need something cold right now.
"So when did you get married?" ask Aunt Jelita.
I let out a long sigh, whereas I wanted to keep it a secret but it turned out that gossip was very fast spreading. Strange, because I warned my mother not to tell anyone about the match. And I believe mom must have kept her word. Then it must be the family of Bu Yuli who has spread the rumor.
"We're being betrothed to Tan. My mother and Ms. Yuli made a deal without my consent" I said trying to explain.
"What did Haris receive?"
I nodded resignedly, I who indeed could not refuse mother's request. "Sorry Tan, I don't mean to hide this but I don't want to make Auntie think of me."
"So Mas Haris accepts and you're getting married soon?" ask Aunt Jelita with teary eyes. This is what I was afraid of, I could at least see the woman I loved grieving.
"No Tan, I did accept it because of mom. But we're not necessarily married."
"If you both want to be clear you must be married. And aunt only you made the escape all this time mas? You have so much heart..."
The glint of tears I saw just now finally fell down as well. I felt so hard to see it, my heart hurt too.
I immediately grabbed the body of Aunt Jelita who was crying sobbing. She was crying because of me, I had already hurt her heart. Why it became like this, why when I was able to get close to Aunt Jelita, my mother even betrothed me to another woman.
"Said that Haris loved Auntie, but what now. Mas Haris wants to marry another woman."
Aunt Jelita continued to vent her emotions while banging on my chest. I just kept quiet, let her get all her junk out.
Aunt Jelita who was exhausted also according to, she spent the rest of her drink until the toilet.
I grabbed Aunt Jelita's hands and held her. He led his body to face me. "Look at me Tan..."
Our eyes looked at each other, I looked at her lovingly so she could feel my sincerity. "Does Auntie believe that I love Auntie?" ask me and he nodded.
"If Auntie believes, then Auntie should be sure of me too. I did accept the match because of my mother, who had been eager to see me marry and have children. But we're not necessarily married because I'm going to try to make that happen."
Aunt Jelita looked at me confused.
"Listen Tan, I'm now trying to figure out the girl's flaws or anything that could make you dislike her. For our matchmaking to be void," I said again.
"She is a Sholehah woman and devoutly religious, not a widow like Auntie. Ms. Wanti must have liked her a lot, so how could she possibly have a shortage of mas." Aunt Jelita was desperate, just like me at first.
"Everyone must have Tan's flaws, it's possible that the girl's lack could be used as an excuse to call off this matchmaking."
"But if there is no such thing? Is Haris going to marry him?"
"I'm trying and I'll never give up Tan, I'm sure that my soul mate is Auntie. Not the others."
Aunt Jelita immediately hugged me, I was happy to reply. I don't care about the people who see us.
"Tante will help Mas Haris find out. We'll find out together. Mas Haris can't cover anything else from Auntie. Let's find a way out together."
I'm so happy to hear that, Aunt Jelita wants to help me she said. "Thank you Tan." I kissed his head many times.
