“Then I read chapter 48 of the Criminal Code to him, and he agreed to make me his legal advisor,” Indira said with a satisfied smile. Abi gave only a small applause to show his enthusiasm in listening to the story of the lawyer.

It has been almost half an hour since Indira came to visit him, during which he also told a long story about what happened to him yesterday. He was very happy with Alya's decision to finally hire him to report the actions of the DPRT that hit him.

“I am very grateful to be able to handle the KDRT case. No, I am grateful to be able to convince the KDRT victim to take legal action so that the culprit can be arrested and imprisoned.”

Suddenly tears flowed down Indira's cheeks. Abi was about to calm her down, before she realized it was tears of happiness. The woman laughed with her tears.

“I'm so grateful.”

Abi had heard many stories of Indira's past from Rama. She knew Indira's mother was a victim of KDRT, even before she was born. The death of the mother is also thought to be due to the accumulation of physical wounds and internal injuries over several years that led to complications of the disease. The birth of Indira with a difficult process and without being accompanied by the husband became a trigger for the recurrence of these diseases. Since childhood, Indira lived with guilt. If her mother had reported her husband for the violence, she might be living a happy life. Although he would not have been born into this world, it was still better than the present situation.

“If I win this case, I want to dedicate it to my mother and Ivonne,” Indira said. “Ivonne is my SMP friend. We used to be very familiar. I always told her I was jealous because she had a complete and loving father and mother. I've been to his house and both his parents are very friendly.”

Indira sobbed back that Abi felt she had to calm her down. The warden in charge of overseeing Abi was confused because the meeting did not resemble a meeting between a lawyer and his client, but rather resembled grief counseling.

“What happened to him?” abi asked as if he did not know the story.

“It turns out they are cruel parents. They demand too much on Ivonne, often even giving very severe punishment on his own biological daughter.”

Abi held the lawyer's hand and stroked gently with his thumb. His eyes looked at Indira as if he wanted to say that he heard well and Indira did not need to refrain from spilling everything on his mind.

“If I had not praised his parents too much and considered him always overwhelmed by happiness, maybe I would have been sensitive to the suffering he was suffering. If he had known in the past that there was a law that would protect him, maybe he would not have thought of suicide.”

Abi knew everything. Even before hearing Indira's past story, he had already guessed that the woman was being shackled by something that made him afraid of many things, including being afraid to see that he had extraordinary potential.

And after hearing the story of her past, Abi realized that the shackles were an opportunity to tell the people who are the same fate with her mother and best friend, she said, that the true law has great power to save them from that terrible situation. Hence, he created such an opportunity for Indira.

“So, are you happy now?” The answer to that question is very clear. Abi asked her only to divert the sadness that surrounded Indira's feelings.

“Very. Even though the case hasn't gone to trial, I'm already very happy. Like my dream since long ago has materialized,” Indira said smilingly. Her tears had stopped flowing, as Abi had expected. “If your case is over, I will focus on the KDRT cases. Even I will accept cases for free.”

“Good. I like that spirit. So, let's settle my case with our best efforts so that you can become the lawyer you want to be without burden.”

Abi and Indira smile back at each other. Unexpectedly, something flashed through Indira's head when she realized how sweet Abi's smile was to her and it made her cheeks blush.

Abi did not immediately answer and thought for a moment. Then, he sighed and said, “Not now. I can't answer it yet. The road is long. Moreover, you have not won the case.”

The reply from Abi upset India. He considered Abi unsportsmanlike because he again refused to answer his question.

“Look, I won't take the case you're offering again. I won't help you anymore except for your case.”

“Pamrih I got also related to my case. So, you shouldn't have to protest because I gave you the case. Moreover, you claim to be happy for handling the case.”

“Ah, somehow now I am very happy if you remember the torture you experienced first.”

“ Hey, isn't that too cruel?”

The night again greeted rutan Sukadamai. The prisoners had already entered their own cells and each cell lamp had been extinguished. They immediately fell asleep because this afternoon there was a large-scale gotong-royong to prepare for the welcoming event of one of the law and human rights ministry officials.

When the time had shown past midnight, Abi woke up. He glanced left and right to make sure all of his comrades were asleep. Then he stood up and went into the toilet.

As usual, he took his secret phone behind a wall and turned it on. He pressed some numbers and a phone button. A few seconds later, a voice came from the phone.

[I don't think the woman's lawyer worked so well. Better than I thought. Even though I haven't been tried yet, I'm glad that bastard's been arrested. In fact, my sister was willing to come to our parents' house and tell them everything. You saved my brother and nephew's life.]

“We will try to get your sister to win her case.”

[I believe that. In fact, I'll send you some of the documents you requested right now.]

The call was interrupted. Abi stared at his phone screen for a few seconds. Then, a message in the form of an incoming document. It opens one of the image type files. His eyes were staring at the picture. He watches it carefully.

The picture is like a map. There are several places with familiar names for Abi. Such terms are often used in the night world. On top of the picture it says ‘PARADISE’.

Abi's gaze was glued to a name on the bottom right corner of the image. A name that has recently become a scourge for Abi. The name that scared some people when Abi called it.

MR. JIREH.
