Real Inheritors

Real Inheritors
meet Joni

Befriending the sounds of the night animals, Dafi who chose to sleep in a saung near the cemetery area was still awake. Between sad, furious, angry, all raged in him after listening to the story of the former RT named Aman.

Dafi did not expect, the day he forbade his mother to visit the toilet was the day of his father's death. Dafi could not imagine the sadness his mother felt at that time.

The area was bought by Biantara Group two years ago. Since then, many of our neighbors have returned to where they came from. Yes, although some are still here. One of them is Mr. Rusman and his son-Joni. You remember Joni? You heard Joni worked on the twin tower project.

Aman's story ends by discussing the twin tower project. Therefore, Dafi began to think of ways to get into the Biantara Group circle.

In the morning Dafi visited the graves of his parents. When accompanying Aman drinking coffee also steamed cassava in the patrol post, Dafi asked, “If Ica where, sir?”

“Ica? Where ya? Neither did you remember. Home village if not wrong,” sahut Aman while trying to remember.

Dafi looked disappointed. It was drawn from the look of his face that momentarily looks sad.

“What's your plan, Dafi?”

“I don't know yet, Sir. But for sure I want to work.”

“That bill, Dafi. At least you should be able to stick around, and remember not to repeat the same mistakes. Do not be tempted by big rewards but the work is not clear.”

“Iya, Sir. I will find a job that is certain,” nod Dafi who then sip his coffee until it runs out.

“Pak. Dafi is leaving now. Still mumpung morn.”

“Be careful, Dafi. I can only pray for you, can't help.”

“No pa-pa, sir. Thank you so much for taking care of my parents' graves. If I had money, the first person I would remember was my father. Thanks again. Please keep cleaning their graves yes, sir,” the Dafi pinta that the man is holding. After saying goodbye to Aman's wife, Dafi left the area.

Dafi returned to the place yesterday. He now stood at the entrance of the project and looked towards the workers who had just started his work.

The sound of a loud horn surprised Dafi. He turned his head, and quickly stepped back to the edge to make way. A security man ran towards him. After the car passed, the security asked, “Mas. Don't go there, walk. What is it that you need?”

“I want to work, Sir,” says Dafi.

“What work? Here you can not carelessly enter, Mas,” he said while paying attention to the appearance of Dafi.

“What aja, Sir. Stirring cement, or lifting any items can also be. I need it, Sir. Can you help me?”

“Where are you, Mas? Sorry, I can't help. Especially today there is Boss Mahendra. Could upset him, Mas."

At about the same time, there was a noise on one side of the building. Some workers looked panicked. The security just passed from before Dafi to see what happened. Out of curiosity, Dafi also followed the security steps earlier.

"Where's the car? Who will go to the hospital? Two people, later the office people followed to the hospital." A man seemed busy giving orders. He is Mahendra, CEO of Biantara Construction who is also the son of Renaldi–CEO Biantara Group.

Apparently this morning there has been a work accident that is most likely caused by human error. Usually because of the work procedures that are not adhered to or the carelessness of the worker.

"Hey, You! Why not wear a helmet? Wanna get in trouble too, huh? Where's your helmet?" mahendra asked Dafi who looked confused.

“Sstt. You ... Dafi ‘kan?” ask a worker who is none other than Joni.

Dafi looked over and certainly recognized his old friend. “Joni,” said.

“Sini come with me,” take her with a wry smile on Mahendra.

Dafi also followed Joni to one side of the place which was quite quiet because not much passed there.

“You work here, Daf? I never saw it,” asked.

“The client is so. But he said it was hard to get in here.”

“He misunderstood. I just started working here,” explained Dafi while watching around. For a moment Joni was silent and seemed to think of something.

“You really want to work here?”

“Totally. I don't have a job, Jon.”

“Yes, come with me to meet the assistant foreman. If the foreman is rich again to the hospital.”

“You want to help me, Jon? Wow, thanks ya.”

“Don't be happy first. Pray that you will be accepted. Yuk!”

Dafi followed Joni's steps to meet the assistant foreman of the workers there. His name is Mr. Nana. Mr. Nana frowned seeing Joni who had not started working and was still hanging out with people he did not know.

“Who, Jon?” ketus tanyanya.

“My friend, Sir. Name's Dafi. He wants to come to work. Yes, yes, sir. He's also a native here, sir. I heard that workers must be a percentage of the citizens around the project. So this Dafi can join the work ‘kan, sir?” joni said half-pressing Nana.

“Truly he's here?”

“Truly, Sir. His house was over there, which fit into the gate. Yes ‘kan, Daf?” ask Joni.

“Iya, Sir,” nod Dafi.

“Ya come first. I will talk to the foreman. It just so happens that we want to scold and less people. But even if it is accepted it may be a daily count, it is also I do not promise yes,” explained Nana.

“Iya, Sir. Thank you very much.” Dafi looked very happy, and so did Joni. Although in his heart, Dafi did not understand how to calculate the payment of wages.

Joni took Dafi to the place where he was assigned. Joni told her about Dafi to her colleague who then asked Dafi to help lift the cement sack, while Joni was in another section with her colleagues. Together with several others, Dafi moved the cement from the truck to the stirring place.

On the other side ….

Mahendra called his father to report a work accident that occurred this morning. Although such a thing is not new, but for Mahendra who has just one month plunged directly into the field it is quite disturbing his mind.

“Let PM (Project Manager) take care of it all. There will be someone who will finish the process. In the meantime you don't go to the project first to avoid who knows there are journalists covering.”

“Okay, Pa. If so Endra will now also return to the office,” concluded Mahendra.

The call was closed. Mahendra called his driver and asked to return to the office immediately.

As the car carrying Mahendra passed leaving the project area, Dafi saw it. He began to wonder, is there a relationship of a man who might be his age with the man who set him up?

“Dafi. Kok even daydreamed. Come to work, there are still many,” reprimand his partner.

“Iya, Mas. Ready,” nod.

Elsewhere ….

After Mahendra's call ended, Renaldi's phone rang again. The middle-aged man's forehead was wrinkled to see the name of the caller was someone who had not communicated for a long time either by phone or by four eyes with him.

“Bima? What's he calling for? Or do-don't ..” Renaldi received the call. After greeting each other for mere pleasantries, the man named Bima delivered a news that was forgotten by Renaldi.

“So yesterday she was free? Alright. Wait for my next order,” he said in a cold tone with a clenched hand.
