knock on the bedroom wall

From today on, I'll be out of town for three days. Not for the holidays, but solely because of the duties of the office. Finally, after arriving at the destination city, which was immediately preoccupied with seminars and meetings all day, I and several co-workers arrived at the hotel. And luckily, I got a room on the ground floor, so there was no need to deal with the stairs or the elevator. My room is number 12.

Arriving in the room, without taking care of the suitcases and other items, I immediately cleaned myself. Because of fatigue after all day activities, I decided to go straight to sleep. For a moment I glanced at the wall clock. The time showed at 22:45, then immediately I went up to the bed and pulled the blanket.

But just before my eyes closed, I heard a knock on the wall, right next to the bed.

Tuk, tuk, tuk.

The sound of that knock sounded like a tap with one finger coming from the next room. Three times the sound was heard. But because I was too tired, I did not heed it and chose to go to sleep immediately.

The next night, I went back to my hotel room after dinner. After the seminar, while there was free time, I and a few co-workers decided to go around the city and buy some things for souvenirs, because tomorrow afternoon me and my colleagues have to check out and return to their home city. Not too tired, after taking a shower and cleaning things up, I decided to watch tv.

I don't know what made me glance at the wall clock, which when my eyes looked, the clock was right at 22:45, and the same incident as the night before happened again. Someone knocked on the wall from the next room. This time the knock was heard six times.

Tuk, tuk, tuk. Tuk, tuk, tuk.

Out of curiosity, without a second thought, I returned the beat. But because there was no reply for a long time, and sleepiness began to attack, I also chose to sleep.

Finally, there came a time when I had to leave the hotel immediately. Before leaving, I once again checked my belongings back. Not until someone is left behind.

The time showed at 17:45, and I was ready to lift the suitcase, when suddenly I heard the sound of women crying, which was accompanied by the sound of scratching on the wall. A moment of gasp, but then I immediately left the room because of the sudden goosebumps by myself.

But because of the curiosity that kept lingering in my mind, when I arrived at the hotel lobby, I immediately approached the reception desk and without further ado asked a receptionist who was on duty.

“Sorry, Ma'am, can I ask you something?”

“What is there to stay in room number 11?”

“Room number 11 yes, Mas?”

“Iya, Mbak.”

The receptionist then began to check something on her computer screen, then replied. “Room number 11 is empty, Mas, no one stays.”

“That's right, Ma'am?”

“True, Mas, room number 11 is indeed empty.”

“But I heard the sound of knocking on the wall since the first night of the stay,” I said, after a moment ago was amazed. “and earlier I also heard a woman's voice crying and scratching on the wall.”

“Sorry, Mas, maybe you misheard.”

“I'm sure I didn't hear wrong, Ma'am,” said I insisted. “I didn't lie.”

“But, Mas, in our hotel, each room is given a silencer,” the receptionist explained. “so it is impossible to hear a sound from one room with another.”

I was silent to the receptionist's explanation. My brain feels empty in an instant. One question then arises: who is actually making the sounds heard from room 12? The fur of my nuduk bristles.
