The magnitude of his sin of suicide
Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz explained, “Suicide is one of the big sins. Allah Ta’ala says:
...وَلاَ تَقْتُلُواْ أَنفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا * وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ عُدْوَانًا وَظُلْمًا فَسَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِ نَارًا وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللّهِ يَسِيرًا...
“And do not kill yourselves; verily Allah is Most Merciful to you. And whosoever does so in violation of rights and iniquities, We shall put him in Hell. That is easy for Allah.” (QS. With Nisa: 29-30).
Prophet Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam said:
...من قتل نفسه بشيء عذب به يوم القيامة...
“Whoever kills himself with something, he will be punished with it in doomsday” (HR. Bukhari. 6105, Muslim no. 110).
Suicide in Islam is the worst sin. But Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah believes that people who commit suicide are not infidels. Prophet Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam also said:
...كان فيمن كان قبلكم رجل به جرح فجزع فأخذ سكيناً فحز بها يده فما رقأ الدم حتى مات . قال الله تعالى : بادرني عبدي بنفسه حرمت عليه الجنة...
“There was a man who was wounded, he was desperate and took a knife and cut off his hand. His blood kept flowing until he died. Allah Ta’ala said: ”My servant precedes me with himself, so I forbid for him paradise” (HR. Bukhari. 3463, Muslim no. 113).
It is a punishment for people who commit suicide
Prophet Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam said:
...مَن قتل نفسه بشيء في الدنيا عذب به يوم القيامة...
“Whoever kills himself with something, he will be punished with it in doomsday” (HR. Bukhari. 6105, Muslim no. 110).
Prophet Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam also said:
“Whoever kills himself with iron, then the iron will be in his hand and he will use it to stab himself in the hell of Hell, remaining there forever. Whoever commits suicide by drinking poison will drink it a little in Hell, remaining there forever. Whoever commits suicide by dropping himself from the mountain, he will be dropped from a high place in Hell, remaining there forever” (HR. Bukhari. 5778, Muslim no. 109).
Shaykh Muhammad bin Shalih Al Utsaimin explained: “Whoever kills himself with something, he will be punished with it in Hell. This means that someone who commits suicide will definitely go to Hell Jahannam” (Sharhu Al Kabair, 109).
A person who commits suicide will experience two horrors :

Are the people who commit suicide infidels?
He who dies in a Muslim state, not in a polytheist state, will not remain in hell if he goes to hell. Allah Ta’ala says:
...إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افْتَرَى إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا...
“Surely, Allah will not forgive the sins of Shirk, and He will forgive all sins other than (shirk), for whom He wills. Whoever joins Allah, he has committed a great sin, (Qs. An Nisa: 48).
Prophet Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam said:
...يَخْرُجُ مِن النارِ مَن قال: لا إلهَ إلا اللهُ ، وفي قلبِه وزنُ شعيرةٍ مِن خيرٍ ، ويَخْرُجُ مِن النارِ مَن قال: لا إله إلا الله ، وفي قلبِه وزنُ بُرَّةٍ مِن خيرٍ ، ويَخْرُجُ مِن النارِ مَن قال: لا إلهَ إلا اللهُ ، وفي قلبِه وزنِ ذرَّةٍ مِن خيرٍ...
“will be cast out of hell the one who says Laa ilaaha illallah and in his heart a grain of goodness. he will be cast out of the hell of the one who speaks Laa ilaaha illallah and in his heart there is a burr of goodness. will be expelled from hell the person who uttered Laa ilaaha illallah and in his heart there is a mustard of goodness” (HR. Bukhari. 44).
Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz explained: “but people who commit suicide are not out of Islam if they are Muslims before committing suicide. Suicide does not get anyone out of Islam. But his fate in the afterlife sees masjiatillah (depending on the will of God) as well as the others. If Allah wills, Allah can forgive him and put him in heaven for his Islam and faith. And if Allah wills, Allah can also punish him in hell for the crime he committed, namely murder. Then, after clearing his sins with the punishment he received, God took him out of hell to be put into heaven. So the parents of a suicidal person should pray a lot for him kindness and mercy, much to him, much to give thanks for him, may Allah ease his case and grant him mercy if indeed he is a Muslim” (http://www.binbaz.org.sa/noor/3054).
Because the person who commits suicide is not infidel, the body is still bathed and misguided. Shaykh Muhammad bin Shalih Al Utsaimin said: “Suicide is not infidel, even he is still bathed, pardoned, prayed for, prayed for forgiveness, as the Prophet Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam did to a misyqash (a kind of knife). The body of the man was brought to the Messenger of Allah but he did not want to pray it, and he said to the companions: pray it. Then the friends told him. This shows that the man who committed suicide was not infidel, so he was not entitled to eternal life in hell. It is mentioned in the hadith that there is lafadz that he is eternal in hell, if indeed the lafadz is mahfuzh of the Prophet Shallallahu’alaihi Wasallam, so the point is a threat and a strong warning against this practice (suicide)” (Sharhu Al Kabair, 110).
Those who speak of sinful practices that are not shirk, which contain such sentences as “ do not enter the paradise of such a person and so” or “ are forbidden to enter the paradise of such a person and thus”, , so the meaning as described Shaykh Musthafa Al Adawi can not be separated from two possibilities:
Those who commit these sins do not go to heaven with those who go to heaven for the first time. He was punished for the sins he committed (if Allah does not forgive his sins), only then was he expelled from hell and went to heaven.
The person who commits the great sin does not enter into a certain type of heaven from the existing heavens (Mafatihul Fiqhi, 1/20).
