“Excuse me, Sir,” greet Freya while putting a coffee cup on the table. “Sorry, I don't know if you have a guest. Will I—“
“Do I look that old?”
“Eh?” Freya looked at her superior in confusion. Why did the man suddenly ask like that?
“When do I marry your mother?” cetus Pram again with a sullen face. Other women would be infatuated and praise him for attracting his attention, but this servant girl instead always pissed him off for no apparent reason.
“Pfft ...” Bayu's laughter almost exploded, but he held it all his might. He silenced his mouth when he saw Pram glancing at him cynically.
“Why call me ‘Bapak’?” cecar Pram again. I don't know why he was suddenly upset being called that way.
“Ap ... what?” Freya is getting confused. He looked at the man sitting in front of Pramudya in the hope that he would be able to get a clue as to what the absurd question meant. However, unfortunately the man did not seem to be helping at all.
Freya bit her lip and twisted the edge of her shirt, a sign that she was really nervous.
“You want your salary not cut this month?”
“Eh?” Freya blinked quickly and looked at the CEO again. How could a man have such a hurricane-like mood? Change all the time.
“Quickly say, want not?”
“Mau!” answer Freya quickly. Of course he wants to. He needed money to apply for college.
“Then marry me.”
“What?!” freya and Bayu together. The two looked at each other, then looked at Pramudya Antasena as if suddenly the man had lost his sanity.
“Why?” tanya Pram while staring at Bayu. “Didn't you suggest that I get married soon?”
“Iya. But—“
“But what? This is just camouflage. I don't really want to get married, just in case Tommy doesn't snatch what's rightfully mine.”
“But ...” Bayu wants to say that there are many women who are prettier, more attractive, and more charming to marry. However, when he saw the expression on the face of the girl next to him who looked very sad and suffering, Bayu swallowed all of his words again.
Freya looked very shocked and hit because of Pramudya's very frontal words just now. He just wants to get married to keep his rights. Really ridiculous. Freya tried to swallow her saliva which suddenly felt bitter.
“You just set it. I will find a lawyer for you,” said Bayu in the end.
“Tu .. wait a minute, Sir. What ... what does this mean?” Freya felt her brain was almost charred. Why was his luck so unlucky on his first day at work? Besides, why was he always stammering when talking to that man?
So embarassing! Freya, tug! You must be strong so as not to be easily oppressed! Even though you are poor, you must have self-esteem!
Freya clenched her hands and was determined to become bolder against her arrogant boss.
“You marry me, I will finance your life. After marriage, you don't need to work anymore. How?” Pram stared fixedly at Freya. “What are you in college?”
Freya looked down when her gaze met her boss's pair of obsidian eyes. Aiiih .. What is strong and strong? Freya immediately felt weak and wanted to faint right then and there.
“Ng ... that ...” Freya twisted her fingers and continued hesitantly, “I just finished High School, Mr.”
“Pak?”
“Eh, eng ... anu ..” Freya looked at Pramudya Antasena with a clear face. “I should call you by what designation?”
Pramudya. Now he's confused. What does the girl call him?
Sis?
Om?
“Call grandfather,” Bayu chirps, then chuckle until his tears come out.
“Shut up!” exclaim Pram gusar. He glared at his best friend for a moment, then went back to being serious and looked at Freya. Never mind, just let the girl call him at will. After all, it would have no effect whatsoever on their status.
Pramudya looked at Freya seriously as he said, “After marriage, I will pay for your college, also buy you a house and a monthly sum of money as compensation. Then just mention the nominal in the pre-wedding agreement.”
“A .. a ... what?” Freya was really shaken. He stared straight at Pram's sharp and unshakable bead, trying to find a little gap there that proved that the man was just joking or wanted to prank him for the sweet coffee.
“Bapak is not playing me, is it?” he asked with a doubtful expression.
Pramudya. “For what to play you? What can I gain by playing you? The money? Stocks?”
Freya bowed. His shoulders slumped. That speech though sounded cruel but it made perfect sense. What does a millionaire want to get from a poor girl like her?
“Sorry, I was just surprised,” muttered slowly. “It's too sudden ... we just met once, how—“
“You or not?” urge Pram. He glanced at the clock on his wrist impatiently. “I have a meeting .. five minutes left. If you don't want—”
“I want!” Freya exclaimed loudly. “I am willing to marry you!”
To hell with pride! If he could earn money so easily, why bother? Although the status of the marriage is only pretend, just assume that it is cooperating. The man needs a partner, and he needs money. Consider it a symbiotic mutualism. Yeah, just think of it.
Seeing Pram's face that turned ugly because it was called “bapak” made Bayu unable to hold his laughter.
“Congratulations, yes. Dad finally married too,” ledeknya, then back re-emerged.
Pram hissing angry, “Enyah!”
“Pffft ... a-ha-ha-ha .. good, Sir. I will immediately contact the lawyer to take care of the wedding Mr.”
“Job! Go now!” Pram got up and was about to kick his best friend's ass, but the man had already run away to the door.
While continuing to laugh, Bayu came out of the office, leaving Pram and Freya who were staring at each other awkwardly.
“What are you waiting for here?” ask Pram ketus. He was upset because the call of the girl made him tempted all out by Bayu.
“Oh ... uh .. I ...” Freya who was observing Pram's face immediately hurriedly turned her gaze nervously. “Then I go out first, Sir.”
The girl immediately ran away before Pramudya answered her words.
“Aduh, my heart ...,” muttered the girl once outside Pram's office. His heart seemed to jump and get stuck in his throat. He was almost out of breath.
What was her dream last night? How can an orphan like her, an ordinary girl who is uneducated and has nothing?
Suddenly Freya felt like fainting. He must have gone mad because he agreed to Pramudya Antasena's request just now.
Haish ....
Whose wrong offer from the man was too tempting? How could he refuse an opportunity that might only come once in his life?
Never mind .. just go, Freya. Consider this a jackpot. Don't you want to go to college and have a better future? Maybe this marriage didn't last long. As long as you study earnestly, you can live your life comfortably in the future.
A moment later, a faint smile appeared on his face. He leaned against the pantry and grinned wider. The girl did not realize at all that someone was watching all her movements from the CCTV machine installed in the upper corner of the room.
