Chapter 21 Reunion

After the tournament we all decided to walk the streets of the city.

There's no special purpose, we just want to walk that road.

"Hey have you heard from him?"

The one who started talking was Lucy, we all turned around out of curiosity.

"I heard the news that lately humans are more active on the border even now that there have been several villages looted by them, I suspect that they are now preparing for another holy war."

"I've read about holy war in a book but I don't know the details."

"I've never experienced it in person either but it happened when I was a kid, it was so bad."

"It used to be that war had a clear reason it was because both sides wanted to expand power, but now we demons have no intention of doing that."

"So now this is a unilateral declaration of war by humans, their reason is only because they consider demons to be evil creatures and must be eliminated. As you know this is the teaching of Rebecca's church."

"We don't want to get involved but if we do that humans will continue to attack and kill indiscriminately, so we have no choice but to fight back."

Lucy kept telling stories and looked tired.

"Well but since the 7 demon princes haven't made any movement so the situation might still be under control, so we don't need to do anything."

We continued walking without a clear purpose.

When we were around the slums I saw some people lifting a large wooden box and around their necks a magic restraint necklace.

"Who is this guy?"

I asked because it was quite rare to see humans in the demon area.

"As you might expect, they are human slaves. The empire is not heaven, we don't hate humans doesn't mean we like it."

We walked past them but I turned around.

"Wait!"

I shouted at one of the slaves and stopped him.

I turned her body and saw her face closer.

"Hey! don't touch someone else's slave!"

The person who seems to be the owner of this slave is getting angry but I ignore it.

"K-you're jo, right? do you remember me?"

I shook after realizing who the person in front of me was, his face was indeed pale and thin but I recognized this face.

His dead eyes began to look at me and dropped the Box he was carrying.

"K- chief?"

"Yes! you remember me, I'm so glad you survived!"

"Yes, even though I ended up as a slave but at least I'm still alive."

Although very thin but he looks quite cheerful even mentally look fine.

"Haha you look healthy, I was planning to look for you guys next year but I didn't expect we would meet so soon. Wait I'll let you go soon."

I turned to look for the slave owner to ask him to let Joey go but I couldn't find him anywhere.

I'm looking into an alley and there she's with Lucy.

After Joey cleaned up and ate we all sat in Lucy's room so that others wouldn't hear our conversation.

"How did you end up being a slave?"

"Ahh honestly when I was carried away by an avalanche I went straight to the nearest village but since it was still very far away and all our supplies were gone I fell unconscious."

"I was found by a group of humans living on the border, their job was to plunder the approaching demons."

"I'm helping them because I feel indebted and I'm also gathering information there."

"Chairman.do you not hate the church?"

He was really crying right now.

"From that, how about we share information now? I'm sure you know some information about this situation."

"You're right, I gathered some pretty good information even though some are still my own guesses."

From then on Joey always travels to gather information and will occasionally come back and report it to me and Lucy because now he is also his subordinate.

We also taught him how to use unification so he could keep himself out there.

Joey surprisingly has a high affinity with the wind element so he is trained directly by Ana.

Although Ana keeps raving about training the clutches or trash but she still does.

Lucy takes action based on the information Joey gave her.
