Misty Soil

Misty Soil
The missing figure

Hope today is better than the day before. Herman learned many valuable lessons in learning life lessons. He began to do light exercise next to the courtyard of the Mbah.

Seeing the Mbah sitting on a long bench picking vegetables from the stem, Herman helped take some leaves following the way the Mbah moves.

"No need, let's just mbah"

"It's okay, I'm also relaxing"

Herman started the fire of the burning furnace. He was a little claustrophobic even to the point of coughing fanning the fire to keep it burning. Lifting a pot that has been cooked rice and vegetables.

Gama is curious about the appearance of a female figure similar to Siti in the forest. The man seemed reluctant to care about the ban given. He crept in through the barrier in the air as the sound of a flying crow swarmed him.

"Ahhhh! fucking animals!" he ransacked the bushes that covered the road.

Before him appeared the appearance of a black-faced ghost, wrinkles wriggling maggots out of the nasal cavity. Being too shocked, he slipped down into the abyss. His hands held on to the roots of a large tree. The sound of his screams was heard by the ghost of Rambe, the chances of the ghost was already impatient to enjoy the pure human air. As he flew over, he saw Gumantong was looking for someone.

"Please! help!" shouted Gama trying to exert energy in order to rise.

From above, he has been welcomed by a female figure similar to Siti. Gama's happy face tightly embraced the woman. He rubbed Gama's back gently back while whispering seductively.

"Abang, is it okay?"

"I'm looking for you, why are you here?"

"Abang, I've been lost for a few days. My body is so hot, would you like my brother to take a shower?"

"Siti, is that you?"

"Yes, consider me the Siti you love" said the figure behind Gumantong's ghost.

Gama reached into the hands of the beautiful woman, lulled with seduction and beautiful words from the ghost of Gumantong. At the edge of the lake, Gama takes off his clothes, he goes into the water following the encouragement of the figure of a beautiful woman similar to Siti. The sound of screams within the water that were not heard, vanished along with his body.

Gumantong buried his skull bone after being content to inhale the pure air and enjoy the man's flesh blood.

It was raining that day again, the sky was reporting bad weather. The shrill chants of the voices of the ghosts echoed in the air. Some residents often hear it, some close their ears and hide under their beds. Some even have high fever fear of hearing the sound.

Sandika headed to the well intending to take ablution water. Murga saw from the trees, the figure of the young man she always waited for at the turn of the morning and evening. Sandika felt that someone was watching her, she sped up her intention and prayed in one third of the night in a solemn manner.

Inside his long prayer beads and dhikr, it flashed in his sight to see the ghostly figure in white clothes earlier. His face was still faintly covered by the white mist. Sandika continued the remembrance but stopped hearing from a distance the voice of Gama who was asking for help.

Now the prayer beads were completely stopped when the sound of knocking on the door shocked him. Sandika walked open but no one came. He closed the door again, the sound of a second knock made him open while saying Bismillah.

Appearing Gama looked at him with a pale and flat face. All over her body was soaked, The gaze of the eyes was like a blind man, the pupils did not move even though Sandika was moving her hands waving in front of her.

“Who are the guests attending nak?” ask Mbah Fatma.

“This is Mbah, the Gama just returned home”

When he turned his head, Gama was no longer at the door. Sandika was dawdling but she disappeared like a night swallow. The Mbah also looked out of the house, he told Sandika to take salt and fire burnt containers that had been provided in the kitchen. Sandika ran to get it, the Mbah poured a little salt into the burnt and put it in front of the door.

“Come quickly enter, it was definitely not the Gama” said the Mbah.

Sandika is surprised to see Gama is not in the room, she wakes up all her friends. That very night, they asked the Mbah for permission to search for Gama. Herman was not allowed to come, he asked to stay beside him to keep Fatma's mother who lived alone in the house.

Arya, Beben and Sandika came out carrying torches to meet the Mbah Baron who was at the siskamling post. Upon hearing the news of Gama's disappearance, the Mbah and the other siskamling guards decided to scatter in search of all the amulets and salt burnt that they believed the demons and ghosts did not like.

“San, why don't you bring this salt or talisman?” ask Beben.

“No, it is enough that I take refuge in Allah” said Sandika.

The rain was getting heavier, the strange sound gripping added to the atmosphere became very haunted. The voice calls the people calling Gama's name. They burn salt as they enter the forest and on the shores of the lake. A little more Beben was tempted by the appearance of a beautiful woman on the left side of the forest forbidden line. He was made aware by Sandik when his feet were already one step into that place.

“Ben, where are you going? Stay on the right road!” said Sandika.

The rain did not subside, strong winds and lightning made the residents decide to postpone the search. The light on the extinguished flame torch made their sight difficult to pass through the darkness. People began to return to their homes. Apart from Sandika, Beben and Arya are still in the middle of the forest.

“I still want to find Gama, he is my best friend, said Beben.

The three of them continued their steps against the storm despite shivering with cold. Arya who was no longer strong immediately limp almost unconscious. Beben and Sandika helped him upright slowly continuing on his way.

“Ben, look Arya is about to faint. Do we continue this search?” ask Sandika.

“What if you take home the Arya” said beben.

“You don't go crazy! In this weather you seem to challenge death!” sandika said out loud.

They also came home with a wry face. Mbah Fatma provided warm water and asked them to remain calm. Similarly, Mbah Baron who gave a new amulet so that they save it until out of the village. The red, black and white threads are wrapped around the knot of the bundle.

“That's on your waist or arms” said Mbah Baron.

“Thanks mbah.”

“I wonder where the Gama went! Or maybe he was brought in by another resident?” said Herman.

“Do not talk like that!” snapped Beben.

“I remember very well that he often deliriously called the name of another siti” said Arya.

“Si Mbah has warned you to be careful. Like it or not you have to follow the rules and traditions in this village for your own safety.”
