Me, Dama & Rania

Me, Dama & Rania
Pre-Marriage Agreement

Morning activities are always welcomed by congestion in the capital city. Some go to school, college or work. Everyone starts their morning activities with different moods. For my own mood? I don't know. Said happy not too, said sad not too.

I wear a typical orange helmet ojol in Jakarta, piggybacking and then leaving for campus UPJ 2 in the area of mango kebon. It takes about 45 minutes to arrive.

Faculty of Economics and Business

Master of Economic Sciences

Take off that orange helmet, pay your brother a jol and get into the faculty. I continued walking through the hallway and the garden that was halfway between the core building and the classroom. Enter the classroom, pull up a chair and sit in the second row by the window.

"Andini" my best friend Rina yelled at me and sat down next to me.

"Hai Rin" I said to Rina.

"Done the lecture of snacking yuk?" bring him.

"Sorry Rin, I can't. There's an appointment" I refused Rina's invitation.

"Who's same? girlfriend yes" her guess was just right.

"Emm.Rin's husband-to-be" I looked down embarrassed.

"Prospective husband? who didn't tell the story.who?" Lina looks very enthusiastic to know who my future husband is.

"I don't know Rin too well either. He's my parents' college friend's son" I told Rina the truth.

"Ooo, fooled?" Lina rounded her lips.

"Where is it? not really, his parents came directly to bed me. Next week we get married" smiled a little.

"That's a big dinner" Rina wondered.

"Yes Rin. I follow what they say" take the book and pen in the bag.

"But you're not?" Rina kept asking.

"As long as my parents are cool, I also like Rin. They're both the source of my happiness" looked at Rina.

"Your parents are very good Din, very dear even. I'm in tune with this news. Don't forget to invite me?" patting my shoulder.

"God willing Rin, I will whatsapp by invitation"

"ok, ready"

*******

At the lecture, Dama sent a message to pick me up in front of the campus. Coincidentally today the coffee shop where I work is on vacation, so I can go with Dama to the mall according to your orders yesterday. Yes, I know, Dama did this because of your insistence. I'm just following.

I waited for Dama in the campus loby. It was 15 minutes from the time he promised. Many times looking at the clock on my left hand and wiping the phone screen, there was no sign of any incoming messages from Dama.

Did he forget? or playing me? he seems to have no interest in walking with me. Huftt.

cring

the ringing tone of my phone rang, I saw the name of Dama who called. I swipe the green button up.

"Halo Assalammualaikum mas" I said as I lifted him up.

"Walaikumsalam..where are you? I'm in front of the gate" Dama replied in a slightly irritated tone.

*A*i'm waiting...Why is he angry?

"I'm in loby mas, just a minute. I got there" I walked quickly over to where Dama was waiting.

tut tut tut tut tut

the phone was immediately terminated by Dama.

I found Dama standing leaning against his car with sunglasses and wearing a work shirt. I see a lot of students who keep staring and talking about it.

Indeed Dama men are handsome, cool, mature and established. All the women must have had a lot of people waiting in line. I was just lucky to be proposed by him because of the wishes of both parents.

"Mas Dama, sorry for waiting for me so long" I said stale. He is the one who came late.

"Lake in!" kettle. He told me to get in his car. Open the car door yourself and put on your own seat belt.

Hope like any other couple getting married, romantic. But again, this was the wish of his parents. Who knows, she has a boyfriend.

"Sorry, I took the road. If you don't want to, don't papa kok. we just go home" I'm confused because Dama did not say a word, looks uncomfortable go with me.

"There's something I want to talk about, too, but later" stay focused on driving.

"What is mas?" manya curious.

He didn't answer my question but asked me what to eat instead.

"em.what aja mas"

"ok"

That's all we talked about in the car to the Mall. There's not much I can do. Staring out the window, saw dense vehicles crawling. Not too jammed yet, because it is still 4 pm.

Dama parked his car in the basement of the Mall. We got out of the car walking each without holding hands or me holding his arm. We are not yet muhrim.

Walk following Dama from behind, then enter a typical restaurant of Jogja food. I sat facing Mama. Ordering krecek gudeg rice, chicken milk and sweet iced tea.

"You're going to college s2?" Dama opened the conversation first.

"yes" I replied.

"Much money dong" said an ambiguous word to me, mock or what?

"Mmm.student mas" I smiled and lowered my head.

"Why down? great dong dapet scholarship" he sounded sarcastic.

"Not really mas, just lucky to get a scholarship" low.

"Ooo...scholarship for not being able to?"

instantly my chest rumbled withstanding the upset. Indeed we are from a simple family but is it worth the word out of an educated person?

"Why silence? you're angry because I said that?"

"no mas" bowed.

"Jaudah eaten! below no money falls, nduk continues" ketus.

Then I started eating gudeg rice and drinking sweet iced tea, spending it with no leftovers because I was hungry. Last meal this morning before going to college.

"Have you finished eating, right?" ask Dama to me after I finish my drink.

"Yes mas"

Dama took out a piece of paper with 6000 stamp. I don't know what the meaning and content of the paper is.

"This is a pre-marital agreement between us"

I immediately rounded my eyes when I heard Dama's words. Why use a contract? something is awkward.

The marriage contract :

It is forbidden to interfere with each other's personal problems.

There is no physical contact.

It is forbidden to tell both parents.

The marriage only lasted no more or less than a year.

There is no gono gini.

I read one by one the contents of the pre-wedding letter, there was a sense of disappointment. I think this marriage is not our desire but must be lived with the right people married. But all of it doesn't reflect that. I suspect there's something behind Dama deliberately making this deal.

"For a living matter, I will give it every month but for an inner living like having sex does not exist! How's it?"

I'm still confused as to how, whether to agree or not. I can't possibly disappoint both parents.

"Okay, I agree" with a heavy heart I agreed.

"Sign here" Dama directed me to sign the letter.

May God give us the best way for our home. Pray in my heart before putting my signature on the stamp.

"ok. Don't complain to our parents or anyone else!" threaten her.

"yes, mas"

Seriate....
