Love for Time
Chapter 8 - The Myth Doesn't Apply To Us

"You deliberately made him die so that if he died, his insurance fell into your hands. Aye right?" handoko was full of emotion.

Handoko's words hit Cheryl to the heart of the most basic, hard and painful. Cheryl looked at him in disbelief. Her chest feels so painful. All his life, this man before him had never given him any affection. And now he's saying something as if the source of all the trouble in his father's life was Cheryl. Tears began to fall soaking his face without being able to be dammed.

"Handoko, please don't make a fuss" said Om Salim in a tone begging for understanding. They were grieving, it was not good to make a scene in front of the deceased.

"What I do will always go wrong in Papa's eyes. I left without any intention of harming Grandma, she knew it better" Cheryl said in self-defense.

"If you hadn't forced yourself to go to college, Grandma wouldn't have worked on it. And he won't be mad at me."

Huh huh? Why is he now to blame?

"Papa should do what's best for me. I'm Papa's son, right? Not Grandma's son?" ask Cheryl slowly.

"You're not my son. I never wanted a kid like you!" grunts Handoko.

One of Cheryl's hands reflexively touched her own chest, hoping to alleviate the pain that had arisen from her Papa's speech.

"STOP HAN!" furious Om Salim.

He walked over and stood between Cheryl and Handoko. "Today we're all sad, and maybe you're emotional. Don't say anything you might regret, Han."

"So it's true I'm not Papa's son? So that's why you never loved me?" Cheryl knew that her words would further ignite the fire in Handoko's heart. But, he can't take it anymore.

"You better just go. Don't go to my mama's funeral." kick Handoko out.

Dimitri closed his eyes and clenched his hands, anger at Handoko mixed with pity on the girl he loved. Ah, but what can he do? He was just a twenty-year-old boy.

All this time he knew how Papa Cheryl was treated. But seeing it directly in front of his eyes, made his heart feel pain. Cheryl's desire to protect and keep him strong is because Cheryl has no one after this.

Aunt Merry did not say much because she did not dare to interfere in Handoko's family affairs, she could only embrace Cheryl who was crying.

"And after today, never return to our home. Make sure you stay away from me if you still don't obey."

Cheryl understood what her father meant by obedience: she had to go home, quit college and get married.

The girl took a deep breath and exhaled, gathering strength. "I promised myself, Papa. I'll never come back and won't ask you a penny for help." Cheryl's voice sounded slow, but it implied a strong determination in it.

***

Like a pu-t-ing pickaxe that ravages everything in its path, that's how Cheryl feels these endings. Starting from the engagement of Dimitri, to the return of Grandma to the house of God. Plus Handoko's treatment that he could not accept at all. Cheryl's mind is messed up, her soul is messy.

Somehow, know - know Dimitri already brought Cheryl to a tourist attraction in Central Java.

That morning they sat together at the sunrise spot of the mountain. A cold wind hit the faces of Cheryl and Dimitri who were sitting on one of the benches there. The girl's eyes stared deeply at the sight before her. The color of the sky began to change.

"What is the name of this place, Dimi?"

"Name telomoyo. Me and my friends used to come here to see the sunrise."

Cheryl didn't respond.

"You know? Why did I bring you here?"

"To see the sunrise, right?" Cheryl asked back with a soft laugh, trying to cover her sadness. But honey, his laughter sounded discordant.

"No. I brought you here because I wanted to take you to your grandmother's funeral."

Cheryl turned her head and looked at Dimitri with a clueless look. Dimitri codes Cheryl to see the sunrise with her chin.

"Good right?"

"Yeah... "

"Please take this sky to your grandmother's funeral. That way whenever you miss grandma, you can just stare at the sky wherever you are, Cheryl."

"The Sunrise is very good, Brother Dimi." said Cheryl without responding to words Dimitri. But Dimitri knew Cheryl heard the words.

"Like the memories of grandma and you, it will always be beautiful in the heart." said Dimitri.

Cheryl lowered her head, crying. Actually her eyes are swollen, but she still cries every time she remembers Grandma. Even coming to his funeral was not allowed, it was very sad.

Half an hour later,

"This is for you."

I don't know when Dimitri left, which was clear the young man came back again with a glass of warm ginger. Looks like he bought it at a stall near there.

"Thanks." -."

"Where? Already better?" dimitri asked when she saw that Cheryl was calmer and stopped crying.

"I'm good's. Ready to go back to the reality."

"Go back to kos?" tanya Dimitri offered.

"Where else?" Cheryl shrugged, smiling thinly.

In his heart, he was grateful that there was Dimitri who was willing to accompany these few days.

"Wait first. I'll give you back this glass first."

"I'll come along, brother."

Dimitri smiled and held Cheryl's hand.

"You guys dating?" ask the shopkeeper.

Eh?!

Dimitri and Cheryl exchanged glances, no one dared to answer. Their status is now ash - ash. Spelled out boyfriend but Dimitri is engaged, said not to be lovers but in reality they look friendly. Ride the mountain with a motorbike, see the sunrise together and now their hands are interlocked.

Cheryl hurriedly removed her hand from Dimitri's grasp.

Seeing Cheryl's behavior, the mother chuckled, and said. "Halah.ndid not be ashamed. Wong who is dating here is a lot of og" he said with a thick Javanese accent.

Cheryl grunts, hides her blushing cheeks. Dimitri just laughed a little at the words said the shop mother earlier.

"We go home first, Mom. When - when we'll be here again."

"It has to be here often, son. Do you know the telomoyo myth? The students like to say that girls ride telomoyo together, usually they will last until old." cerocos stall mother who hobby tells the story.

The deg!

Cheryl glanced at Dimitri, she wanted to see the young man's reaction. The young man seemed to be smiling sweetly at her.

"Yuk" said Dimitri. His hand held Cheryl's hand.

While walking to the place where Dimitri's motorcycle was parked, Cheryl repeatedly glanced at his hand which was back in contact with Dimitri and also Dimitri's face.

"Why?" dimitri asked while shrugging her face.

"It seems that myth doesn't apply to us?" chirping Cheryl.
