CHAPTER 42 (GOSSIP)

Inside his room, Gibran was reading a book to fill his free hour because his teaching schedule was still a few hours away.

Reading a book was a very appropriate choice to shorten the time because it had unknowingly stayed a few more minutes before he entered the next class.

Gibran who was busy reading was startled by the knock of the door coming from outside.

“Log in!” shouted Gibran who had put his reading book back.

Initially Gibran thought it was one of his students who wanted to collect assignments, but it turns out that the one who came was Sarah.

With a sullen face, Sarah went straight into Gibran's room and sat in front of him, even forgetting to say hello.

“Waalaikumsalam.” Gibran said he meant to insinuate.

“Assalamualaikum, sorry I forgot the keles.” ranking Reply Sarah.

“Why upset?” asked Gibran while frowning out of curiosity.

Gibran thought Sarah might be upset with PMS, but Gibran had absolutely no intention of asking her.

Although the two of them are close friends, Gibran is still Gibran who is not too concerned with other affairs.

“You have been horrified yet about the gossip that is circulating?” ask Sarah.

Gibran glanced at Sarah's face at a glance and then he shook his head, because indeed Gibran did not like to listen to gossip, in addition to adding to the sin of having talked about others, gossip can also change his view of someone.

“You really haven't heard? Though the rumors about you.” Said Sarah.

“About me? What is gossip?” asked Gibran who was finally interested because of the rumors about him.

“Gossip about you is the same Karren, all students even the lecturers heard the gossip.” Gibran.

Hearing Karren's name linked to him made Gibran more curious about what rumors had spread.

“My life and Karren why?” ask Gibran.

“You two way, there are students who saw you two in the mall, you said you don't like Karren, then why did you even walk with him?” ask Sarah.

Sarah seemed to be unable to hold back her anger anymore, she was jealous. During this time Gibran always had a reason to refuse if Sarah asked him to leave, while Gibran did not refuse when Karren invited him to leave.

Karren's presence in Gibran's life makes Sarah's position as a friend of the dean Gibran shifted, even though Karren is far from the type of woman Gibran dreams.

“I just keep my promise.” Reply Gibran.

Gibran spoke casually, feeling that what he and Karren were doing was not wrong, while Sarah grew increasingly upset that Gibran was responding casually to the rumors.

“What promise?” ask Sarah who is getting curious.

Sarah's heart felt tight thinking about the closeness of Gibran and Karren who made a promise like two people who have a special relationship.

Hearing Sarah's question made Gibran directly look at Sarah with a slightly dislike gaze.

“I don't need to explain it to you because it has nothing to do with you.” Gibran.

“You should stay away from Karren!” sarah said with a telling tone.

“Only you who would dare tell me to stay away from someone?” ask Gibran who's getting upset.

Gibran did not understand Sarah's attitude at all, they were both close friends but that does not mean Sarah has the right to manage her life.

Hearing Gibran's words made Sarah sad, her eyes teary, Sarah never thought that Gibran would talk to her like that.

Sarah has long liked Gibran, but Gibran only considers him a friend, even Gibran's attitude has always been rigid since the past until now.

“The lecturers also talked about you and Karren, they questioned your relationship.” Said Sarah.

“You must stay away from Karren as a form of rebuttal to their allegations, your image in front of the students will be destroyed, they will consider you the same as other men who like Karren just because he is beautiful and sexy.” Further.

Gibran again opened the book he read earlier, but he also listened and thought about what Sarah said.

“If you stay close and pay more attention to Karren even if only you are neighbors, but he can baper all your attention. Before he puts more feelings on you, you better stay away from him because your good image will be ruined seeing what Karren is out there.” Sarah's connection makes Gibran's feelings even more chaotic.

“Sorry Sarah, can you come out? I have teaching hours in a minute.” Gibran said he intended to drive Sarah away in a subtle way.

Sarah nodded then she immediately left Gibran's room after greeting Gibran.

Although Sarah's words managed to get Gibran to mind, but he did not want to think about it at this time because he had to teach immediately.

Gibran immediately prepared what was needed to teach and he immediately went out of his room to the classroom.

While walking down the corridor, Gibran overhears the conversation of four female students who say his name. Out of curiosity Gibran finally stopped his steps and stopped not far from them.

Gibran pretended to play his phone so they wouldn't know he was eavesdropping. Gibran did this because he was curious about what kind of gossip was spreading, although Gibran had never eavesdropped on anyone who was gossiping.

“Gue sure if Karren deketin pak Gibran because want to get good value.” Said one of the students there.

“Ya sure! As far as I know he was close to Kevin, suddenly the same decket sir Gibran yes there must be nothing.” Reply to another.

“Gue denger value he also ga how good fit in the same teaching lecturer before, lah now value he must be safe because close to the same sir Gibran.” Reply to another.

“Kalo I am more supportive pak Gibran same ma'am Sarah, but yes probably because Karren is sexier aja so pak Gibran prefer Karren.”

“Haha, I suspect that Karren has given his body to Mr. Gibran, so that the fierce Gibran sir can melt with him.”

Such was the content of the gossip spread on the campus lately, Gibran who heard it could only clench his hands held back emotions from hearing the words of an unlearned student come out of the mouth of an educated student.

Gibran's jaws hardened with a sharp gaze that looked towards the student, unfortunately they were unaware of Gibran's presence there.

Actually Gibran wanted to reprimand them, but because the teaching hours would soon begin then Gibran

paused his intention and immediately walked with his flat face as usual, but this time it was not an ordinary flat face, but a flat face as it restrained emotions.

During the lecture hours Gibran was completely unfocused, he kept thinking about the words of the student who judged Karren a no-no.

During this time Gibran only relaxed if there was gossip about him with Karren, but it turns out everyone is more cornered and demonize Karren in his appeal.
