The Whistle (Sixteen)

“How, is he now in that warehouse?”

A man in a leather jacket asked one of his colleagues while sneering cunningly. After the colleague switched off his phone, the man nodded his head with a triumphant smile as he had managed to trick the captain. And after this the captain will investigate the wrong company and be completely innocent.

“I've already told him that Han Company is involved in that dark business, so the boss can be a little calmer for some time to come. Boss can run his business safely.”

“Are you sure? I don't think captain Lee will be that stupid, we have to keep monitoring him.” said the man in a leather jacket while crossing his arms. The man who had been holding his phone since then seemed to snort violently because his performance always got a reproach from the colleague who he thought was no better than him. But

what his friend said was true, Lee Haejun's reputation was excellent in the ranks of intel, he obviously would not be rash and would be deceived so easily. He had to ask the help of his other teammates to keep an eye on Lee Haejun's movements.

“I've sent a message to Oscar to keep an eye on Captain Lee. If Captain Lee were to finally learn of our rot, Oscar would instantly finish him off and remove our tracks cleanly. So you take it easy.”

The man in the leather jacket smirked in satisfaction while nodding his head in understanding. Already long ago he was fed up with the leader because he was always acting pretentious and arbitrary, even though he was sure if the leader was just a two-faced man who had deceived many of his subordinates with his wife who was not qualified at all. And he hated the man so much because he made such a stifling rule in his division that he could not approach the woman he loved so freely. Fortunately from the beginning he was not part of that intel, because he was just a spy who could destroy his team until it was completely scattered and unhelpful.

“Do your duty well, I will return to headquarters to spy on the movement of the intel.”

Yuka stroked Enzo's hair slowly who was sleeping next to her. After he prepared various dishes with Enzo, the little boy whined tiredly and asked Yuka to accompany him to sleep. Yuka ends up storing all of her cooking in the refrigerator and immediately accompanies Enzo to sleep before the four-year-old whines back.

While stroking Enzo's hair, Yuka started fiddling with her phone to read popular news on the internet. But suddenly Yuka remembered her husband who until noon had not given her any news. Yuka tries to contact Haejun. And on the fifth ring her husband finally picked up his phone call as well.

“Oppa, where are you?” ask Yuka directly. Faintly Yuka heard a noisy voice coming from across and made her not focus on listening to Haejun's words.

            “Yuka, did you hear me?”

“I can't hear your voice clearly oppa. Where are you?” ask Yuka again.

“I'm at headquarters. It's really noisier here because I'm watching Sungjo train the martial arts of new agents.”

“Sungjo? Ahh, I miss him. Please say hello to him oppa. I hadn't seen him for a long time after he was appointed head of security in Busan district. Do I need to go there?”

           “No need.” replied Haejun firmly.

“I'm bored oppa. It's like it's not my style, all day being at home and taking care of the kids. Didn't I always work and solve cases outside? I want to go to headquarters.” whine Yuka noisily. Haejun snorted annoyedly at Yuka's extremely troublesome wish. Shouldn't be that woman

happy to be able to spend time taking care of Enzo?

“Just enjoy your time with Enzo, maybe you won't get that rare opportunity again because maybe you will be preoccupied with various cases tomorrow.”

“Hmm, okay. I'll make myself comfortable at home. When will oppa come home? We have made various dishes for dinner with oppa later, I hope oppa will not disappoint Enzo because the boy is very excited to make his favorite daddy food.” Yuka sweat seriously. Haejun seemed silent for a moment on the other side, his article he did not know whether he would go home or not today. He still has a lot of work to do.

“I'll try.” replied Haejun finally after being silent for quite a while. Yuka frowned in surprise because she felt something was being hidden by her husband. If it's true that Haejun is at the headquarters, it means that the work is done. But in fact her husband did not dare to promise to go home, it means Haejun had lied to her. She believes her husband is not currently at the base.

“Then I will wait for oppa to come home. See you later at home.”

Yuka hung up her phone while thinking about her husband's whereabouts. He then remembered the tracking software that a few days ago was sent by his partner. Yuka eagerly opens the app to track where Haejun is.

“Hopefully this software still works.” please Yuka while entering several digits of Haejun's mobile number into the search field. Then on the screen of his phone began to appear a picture of the city map of Seoul along with the coordinates of the numbers that are still flocking to adjust the coordinates of the signal Haejun phone is located.

“How long.” muttered Yuka impatiently when the software did not appear the coordinates of the number where Haejun's location was. But suddenly a series of coordinates of the number appear on the screen of Yuka's phone with a map marker that points at a point. With a smile, Yuka began

zoom in on the map to see where her husband is. But Yuka was immediately stunned when she found the name of a street, not the name of the headquarters as mentioned by her husband. Yuka further zoomed in on the map and she got a fact that her husband was in

gwangwon district. An area famous for its black market and also gambling establishments. While thinking, Yuka glanced at Enzo for quite a while while weighing her plan.

“I have to get there.” break up Yuka steady. She kissed her son's forehead long before he jumped down from the bed and got ready to catch up with her husband in Gwangwon. After all, the distance between her mother's house and Gwangwon was not too far away, so she was sure she could catch up to Haejun there before her husband went elsewhere.

“Enzo yes, wait for mommy until dinner later. Mommy promises to bring daddy to dinner with you.” whispered Yuka slowly while peeking at her son again. After that Yuka immediately came out of her son's room to rush towards the Gwangwon gambling area.

Meanwhile inside an elite gambling establishment in Seoul, Haejun was posing as a bookie to follow his men who were caught playing gambling at the venue an hour ago. While playing cards, Haejun continued to observe the motion of Han Jaeshin who was sitting at the second table next to him.

An hour and a half ago as he was about to enter the headquarters, he accidentally saw Jaeshin was walking out of the headquarters. Seeing that, he immediately followed Jaeshin to see the true identity of Jaeshin because the man had dared to play tricks on him and lie to him about the existence of the mobsters he was targeting.

            “Bung, show your card.”

Haejun slammed his cards on the gambling table with a winning grin printed clearly on his face.

            “I win.”

Haejun gets some betting money from other players, and after that he immediately passes away because he sees Jaeshin starting to leave his seat.

Meanwhile, a man in a neat suit who has since become a gambling opponent Haejun looks so serious about noticing Haejun's steps that begin to disappear swallowed by the crowd of cassino visitors. The man in the suit grinned at a glance while whistling slowly enjoying the gambling game he was engaged in.

“Is Haejun oppa really here?” yuka muttered softly as she had stopped in front of an elite cassino in Seoul city. For a moment Yuka felt hesitant to get into the cassino because Haejun did not like to play gambling, although she knew that her husband was very good at gambling because he had seen Haejun teach gambling tricks to his juniors when his juniors were about to disguise themselves as a rich tycoon jerk.

Yuka also checked her phone again to confirm the presence of Haejun's cell phone signal that was in the cassino. He began to tidy up his appearance and prepared to go down. But all of a sudden she saw one of her intelligence colleagues walking out of the cassino door in front of her, and soon her husband, who was walking quietly, appeared, between the cassino visitors and the pedestrians who walk crowded the main streets of Gwangwon. Without thinking, Yuka immediately got out of her car to follow where Haejun had gone.

Yuka continued to walk sneaking around behind Haejun while occasionally he pretended to interact with the snack vendor because Haejun suddenly turned his head back.

“Ah, what is the price of one serving of jjangmyeon?” yuka asked suddenly at a florist. Somehow the question sentence that came out of his mouth was precisely about jjangmyeon, when clearly the young woman was selling flowers.

            “Money flowers?”

“Sial! Where did Haejun oppa go?” yuka cursed while continuing to walk down the sidewalk that was so dense in front of her. While walking Yuka began to cater for her stupidity that had lost focus due to various kinds of speculation lodged in her head.

Bruck

Yuka accidentally hit the shoulder of a tall man who was walking in the opposite direction to her. The man glanced at Yuka at a glance behind his sunglasses while warning Yuka to be more careful.

“Note your step miss.” said the man relaxed and walked back while whistling softly. Yuka looked at the man irritatedly while cursing loudly in her heart because now her shoulder was hurting due to the violent collision of the foreign man.

            “Aishh, basic guy sucks!”

Yuka resumed her steps with an unusually irritated face while enduring the pain in her shoulder. Now she felt really upset that she had lost track of her husband. She decided to go back to her car and go home because there was no point in her going around in circles in Gwangwon while her husband had disappeared somewhere.

Srett

            “Mpphhh.

Suddenly Yuka is silenced and dragged into a deserted alley. Yuka thrashed around with all her might while beating up the ambush. But he was still dragged into the dark alley to get away from the crowd.

Bruck

Yuka's body was thrown into the wall with the position of Yuka's back that landed first on the hard surface of the wall.

            “Ahh.”

Yuka complained in pain as the assailant cornered her to the wall with her sizeable body.

           “Oppa.”

Yuka was finally able to blur her voice after she managed to calm her panicked self from getting a sudden attack while she was unprepared.

“What are you doing here for? You're following me!” accuse Haejun of being on target. Yuka snickered angrily at Haejun and asked the man to let go. But Haejun still refuses to let go of Yuka because he wants to teach his defiant wife a little lesson. Isn't it obvious he asked Yuka to be at home with Enzo. But in fact his wife was actually wandering in the streets while sneaking around like a thief.

“I was walking around because I was tired of being at home.” Yuka said reasoned. Haejun further tightened his body at Yuka, and this time he slightly pressed Yuka's breastbone with his elbow to give an intimidating effect on Yuka.

“Since when do you like to lie to me, Miss Im? I know you're here because you're tracking my cell phone signal.”

With a quick movement Haejun reached into the pocket of Yuka's shirt and immediately picked up Yuka's white phone stored there. And when Haejun unlocks his wife's security lock, he is immediately presented with a stretch of Seoul map and also the coordinates that indicate where he is.

“Look, isn't this the coordinate point where we're standing right? Do you still want to lie to me?”

Yuka snatched her white phone from Haejun's hand and directly stuffed the square object into his pants pocket. Now she could not avoid it, because her husband had obtained valid proof of his actions today.

“Alright, I confess if I did stalk oppa today. But don't blame me if I do that, oppa tricked me.” said Yuka fierce. Haejun looked at Yuka sharply and slightly raised a threatening look at the woman. But apparently it has no effect on Yuka because the woman already knows her very well.

“I just don't want to involve you in danger. This mafia, they're very dangerous. I don't want to lose the people I love. I just want to protect you, Enzo, eommonim, and my parents.” Haejun said honestly. Hearing that Yuka softened a little and tried to understand her husband's reasoning. But now that he was there, he couldn't just go home and pretend he didn't know anything. He wants to help Haejun complete his mission.

“Because I'm already here, I want to help you oppa. I want to help you finish your mission so that today you can go home because I promised Enzo I'd take you home for dinner together. Today Enzo looks so passionate when cooking with me, he really wants you at dinner tonight. So please allow me to help you get your work done soon.”

Haejun sighed softly while releasing his body crush on Yuka. The woman had just coaxed him with a sweet, unlucky persuasion that really touched her heart. Imagine Enzo who today has worked hard to make a wonderful dinner with him so touched his heart. Moreover, during this time they rarely gather let alone eat together, so he would feel very sinful if he could not fulfill the wishes of his son just because of his busyness to pursue the mob. So, he had no other choice but to accept Yuka as his partner today. After all, he was convinced that his wife was more than capable of being relied upon. She's a tough woman.

“Well, how is oppa? Are you willing to accept my help?” yuka asked impatiently after Haejun had been silent for quite a while. The man snorted and immediately pulled Yuka's hand to walk hand in hand out of the narrow alley with him. At once Yuka's heart cheered with excitement because finally the husband allowed her to take part in his mission which had been kept secret. But he was still curious, actually how dangerous the mafia-mafia is being handled by Haejun?

“Oppa, who exactly is the mobster who's oppa after? Why does the president really look distracted with their moves?”

“The story is long, but the point is that the mafia is the same mafia that killed your father, although I have not yet obtained any evidence about it, but I am very sure.”

Yuka was flabbergasted for a moment when she heard the words from Haejun. So all this time her husband had known everything, while he knew nothing.

“Why didn't oppa say it in the first place? Oppa purposely hid it from me?” recriminate

Yuka cynical. Haejun turned to his wife at a glance and turned back to face forward with a hard jaw. He did not want to be argued by his wife today, he was tired enough with all the risks that strangled his neck that he felt tight and scared the whole time.

“I can't tell you because it's dangerous. I don't want the incident three years ago to happen again. I just want my family to be able to come together whole.”

Hearing Haejun's plausible reasoning, Yuka chose to keep quiet and accept all the dishonesty of her husband during this time. After all it was also for her and Enzo's good, so for what he blamed Haejun and turned hostile towards her husband. He would be very sorry if he did that.

“So what is the plan oppa today? What should we do?”

“Today I was trailing Han Jaeshin because I was sure he was a spy for that mafia. Today he deceived me and gave me false information. And if today I can catch his wet working with the mafia, I can take him directly to the prosecutor for trial. But actually it was too good, considering he was a traitor. And a traitor should be put to death in a heinous manner.”

Yuka glanced at her husband's face which was filled with killing aura on her face. And he chose silence because he did not want to provoke the terrible anger of Haejun.

“Oppa, we better split up to find Han Jaeshin. We'll meet in front of the cassino in an hour, how?”

“Alright, quickly contact me if you are in trouble.”

After Yuka nodded, Yuka started walking in opposite directions from Haejun. The woman walked west and made her way among the pedestrians. Every now and then Yuka looked back to make sure she wasn't being followed because she suddenly felt something strange.

            That voice....

Yuka suddenly heard such a familiar whistling sound in her ears. With full vigilance Yuka began to observe every pedestrian who walked around her one by one.

Yuka pov's

Again I heard that whistling around me. But I don't see anyone who looks suspicious at all. All of them, pedestrians, were seen walking past me without any problems. I decided to forget about it and walked back to find Han Jaeshin. I hope that man is still around Gwangwon because we were arguing in a narrow alley for a long time, so I'm worried that Han Jaeshin might have left here. But for now I'm trying to be more thorough in finding Han Jaeshin, because if I find him, it's possible that I'll get information about the mafia involved in my father's murder.
