Xylona read the testimonies of students, residents, and teachers that Drystan had gathered during the investigation.
Drystan said, "I'm confused, why their testimonies are all different. They seem to be hiding something. If they can't cooperate with the police, this investigation won't come to fruition. We can only rely on a little bit of evidence that is in the CTF. That doesn't help at all."
Xylona nodded in understanding. "I got some information from friends at High School where they are the original residents of Amrita Village. I concluded, the victim was always found on the 22nd day of every month, the victim was always from AMRITA High School, the same case had occurred even before this High School was established. It's been confirmed that this was a serial murder, meaning that the person who killed the victim was the same person when viewed from the way he was killed."
Drystan nodded his head listening to his sister's opinion.
Xylona continued, "There are also those who say, this murder on the 22nd has happened a long time ago, before the village of Amrita was established. But, Amrita Village was established 69 years ago. The killer is old enough to kill. Let's just say he killed at 20. And 20+69=89 year. What can an 89-year-old parent do?"
Drystan added, "And what amazes me is, how could the man not have been caught for almost 90 years gone by. I think the old case may not be solved because the tools of the time were not as sophisticated as they are now. But even for the modern police, this case is difficult to solve, because there are no fingerprints, no murder weapons, and no DNA found on the victim's hands that we found. Well, let's just say the killer is an expert killer, but no matter how smart a human is, at least he's been careless by leaving a trail. This doesn't exist at all. Isn't that weird?"
Xylona seemed to think. "Did you find a motive for his murder?"
Drystan reads the old file, "From the data you get in the old case, the killer is after someone who acts arbitrarily. And somehow, it happens every 22nd. People think if anyone subverted a human on that date. Therefore, many people are hiding every 22nd. They avoid unwanted events. But, there are still casualties."
Drystan sighed for a moment, then he read back his file, "This murder happened a long time ago. Many people were missing, and residents found hand pieces in various places with rings on their middle fingers. But, the victims identified and reported to the police station began in 1970, because a new police station was built in this village in 1969. The victim was the newly appointed 3rd Village Chief for 8 weeks. His hand was found in a well where residents were fetching water. There's a ring on his middle finger. During his reign, he was known to steal people's money. He also likes polygamy. The problem he made his wife was underage girls."
Xylona digested the file her brother read. "His body not found?"
Drystan shook. "Only pieces of his hand have been found until now. No one knows where the killer hid the victim's body."
"First, how did you identify a corpse by examining its hand pieces?" Ask Xylona.
"The next case was in 1976. This year, victims appear every month. Starting in 1976, the 22nd is considered the date of death. On February 22, 1976, the victim was a stingy widow. He once killed his servant because he was caught stealing. Then on March 22, 1976, the victim was a health incumbent who sexually abused his patient. In the same year the following month was a housewife who liked to snatch people's husbands. In all cases, a ring is found on the middle finger of the victim's hand. Next one...."
Xylona was seriously listening. Until where Drystan entered the year in which the AMRITA High School opened. The girl was more interested in listening.
".... In 1989, AMRITA High School opened. Since then, the victim has come from the High School. Xylona was horrified to hear the story. "What kind of game is that?"
Drystan paused for a moment and reread the file. "It was not written what kind of game they did, because the school closed the case by bribing the police. The next day, a piece of the OSIS chairman's hand was found hanging from a flagpole. And the Headmaster who closed the case with a bribe disappeared on the 22nd of the following month. Then a piece of his hand was found on his office desk. The following month, a hand was found at the gate of the police station. After being examined, it turns out that one of the police officers disappeared. He's a cop who gets a bribe from the principal to cover up the first case."
Xylona shuddered in horror at hearing all those cases. Drystan continues to read the case until 2020. The last case he dealt with for the first time in the village of Amrita.
"On September 22, 2020, an Amrita High School student disappeared while coming out of the house to buy cigarettes to a stall. The next day, a cut of the victim's hand was found in the pesawahan by the farmers. After the autopsy, the hand piece matched the missing student's DNA. However, there were no clues whatsoever to be found from the hand piece. As usual, there was a ring on the middle finger of that hand piece. When examined, nothing was found in the ring other than the victim's DNA. I tried to get an expert to check the ring. Experts say the ring is a real gold ring that comes from the royal era. Usually the ring is given to the families of the criminals sentenced to death as a sign of 'compensation', perhaps?" Drystan confusion.
Doubtfully, Xylona concluded, "So, the murderer is someone who wants to make justice on his own? Because the victims are bad people."
Drystan breathed a heavy sigh. "It looks like Satan will also be confused with this case. But, whatever the reason, killing it is still a wrong act. The murderer must be found and punished."
