GHOST SCREAMS

GHOST SCREAMS
RETIREMENT

Mr. Prapto of course that night could not sleep well because he thought about the sighting of the old man. Several times he circled his gaze around the room to confirm whether the genie or the old grandfather's appearance was in his room or not. Pak Prapto's wife who saw the suspicious behavior of her husband could not resist asking this question to Pak Prapto. However, Mr. Prapto kept his vision a secret from his wife because he did not want to make his wife afraid.

The next day Mr. Prapto left for work a little afternoon because his body felt a bit sore after a night of trouble sleeping. Along the way, the man also turned occasionally to the dashboard glass to see if the old man did not appear on the glass again. Once in his room, Pak Prapto immediately gathered his men to convey something important. His men immediately stood in front of Pak Prapto's desk.

“Today I purposely gathered you all here related to the closer my retirement time is. I ask you to work better in the future. I do not want to leave this institution with your work that is less than optimal. The point is I don't want me to retire still leaving a job that is still not finished. You guys got it?”

“Ready, Commander!”

“Aiptu Cahyo! Please I request to be sent a case recapitulation book during my time here!”

“Ready, Commander!”

“And one more thing you should remember! After my death from here please improve your performance to maintain the comfort of the community!”

“Ready, Commander!”

After calling all his men, Mr. Prapto sat contemplating at his desk. Memories of what he was doing at the place and also outside Java during his service made the man feel sad to remember him. Aiptu Cahyo who is currently a confidant of Pak Prapto is well aware of the feelings of his superiors. After all his co-workers returned to his room, he came to Pak Prapto with a sad face.

“Commander, to be honest I am still not ready to be abandoned by Mr. Commander. There is still much I have to learn from the Commander. Who will guide me forward if there is no Commander?”

“Aiptu Cahyo! As one of the best officers this office has, you already have enough technical ability to work better in this office. You've already earned some award badges, right? In fact, the promotion of the position for you is in the process.”

“Aiptu Cahyo! You shouldn't spearhead law enforcement in this country saying so. I'm sure you and all your colleagues are capable of running it all. You guys can do it! If you say that, you have indeed let me down as a commander here. It all takes time and process. And you need to remember, even though I will be full of duty, it does not mean that my door is closed to you and all your colleagues. Please come to your house to share! Understand?”

“Si-ready, Commander!”

The burden on Aiptu Cahyo's chest was reduced instantly when Pak Prapto said that. After the heart-to-heart talk, Aiptu Cahyo went straight to his desk to adjust his task of showing the recapitulation of cases that had been handled by his division. Meanwhile Mr. Prapto looked sad after sitting alone in his room. For some reason he suddenly misses Kyai Nur and Nyi Putri, parents he already considers as his own parents in the hamlet of Jatisari.

At four o'clock in the afternoon when all of Pak Prapto's men had some of them come home and some were at the location of the handling of the case, Pak Prapto was opening the case files he had handled. A smile of happiness and satisfaction was drawn on the man's face. The records of the cases made the man recall his trip to the office. Not all cases have to end at the green table indeed, there are some cases that end in peace. There are some unique and difficult cases to solve at the beginning, but thanks to the hard work of his team, eventually the cases are resolved well. However, there are also cases that make the heart of the man sick, namely the case of drug circulation that the culprit is a minor. Ironically, the case dragged one of the police officers who was secretly involved in it. Pak Prapto's teeth crackled as soon as he saw the file.

“I'm sorry, Prapto .. I've humiliated our own institution. My wife's got Pinjol, Prapto. That's the only way I can do to be free from the debt bondage that has plagued my family. I promised my late in-laws to take good care of my wife. I've failed, Prapto. I'm sorry ..”

Mr. Prapto wiped his tears so remembered the request of one of his colleagues at that time. He knew for sure that his partner was not a very bad person. Only once was he involved in the case. But of course the crime of drugs is not a small mistake that is easy to forgive. But, at least his partner had already realized his mistake. His wife has changed a lot too. Consumptive behavior of his wife who dragged her husband to prison, now his wife has transformed into an independent and productive. She remained faithful waiting for her husband to be released from prison while financing his children who are still in school by opening a cake making business at his home.

Mr. Prapto is ready to go home and leave his room. However, he accidentally nudged the book containing the unfinished recap of the case he read. The book fell to the floor and accidentally opened a certain page. Mr. Prapto was quite surprised to see the look of the page. On the page displays the murder case that occurred in SMU Negeri 14 with the murder victim of a school security guard named Mr. Misnanto and the perpetrator named Mang Dirin with the motive of his murder is a field problem job.

“Mang Dirin ... where are you now? You've been a fugitive long enough, but your nose didn't show up. Where did you go, Mang Dirin? Are you able to live a quiet life after eliminating the lives of innocent people? Yes ... I have to catch you before I retire from my duties.” Pak Prapto's lips trembled as he called out the old man's name. There was a strange feeling that suddenly burst into the heart and mind of Pak Prapto when he mentioned the name ‘Mang Dirin’. Even the man's hair also creeps when his lips mention the name of the killer Pak Misnanto.
