Eps. 81

After briefly replying to Ibrahim's message, the girl decided to return the message to Dimas.

[Calilla : Bang Dim, really don't want to forgive Lila?]

Kalila continued to stare at the message she sent to Dimas, with a grim face. However, that grim face instantly brightened, when it found its message read by Dimas. Kalila's face grew brighter as Dimas contacted her. Kalila ran, out of her study. The girl moved her legs at a rapid pace, until she arrived at the park. Kalila decides to take a video call from Dimas, in the park.

“Bang Dimas is no longer angry with Lila?”

Since Kalila was in the third grade of High School, since the girl was preoccupied with tutoring to face the final exam, we— me and Kalila— decided to make a video call every night. I suggested we make video calls every day. My goal is to comfort Kalila. So that the girl is not too stressed to face the final exam later. Kalila agreed to that. Making a video call with me, she admitted to keeping herself entertained.

Telling the daily life we do, interspersed with laughter. The duration of the video call, depending on the soap opera watched by her mother Kalila. What is clear is that we started at 20:30 AM local time, and ended, when Kalila's mom came into the room.

But every Sunday night, we could tell each other for up to two hours. Because Kalila must be in Bang Rav's room. Because usually, bang Rav is busy dating or gathering with his friends.

Even when Kalila was busy compiling the thesis as well as the final task of both lecture majors. We still make video calls, even if they are only ten to fifteen minutes long.

There is no day where we don't make video calls. No matter how busy our schedules are, no matter how tired our bodies are, we always take the time to make video calls.

But last night, because of a man whom Kalila was so fond of, for the first time, we did not make a video call. Not even one of my messages was answered.

All because of the presence of the man Kalila had longed for long ago. That man is none other than my cousin, Ibrahim Adi Putra. My guess last night turned out to be true, Kalila could not be contacted, because she was on the phone with A' Ibra.

This morning, casually, Kalila mentioned her conversation with A' Ibra, last night. I couldn't sleep because I hoped Kalila would call me. At least reply to the messages I sent. The girl even said that A' Ibra would pick her up after work. I suddenly felt very upset, hearing Kalila chattering about her conversation with A' Ibra.

My heightened annoyance made me unable to control speech. I even called Kalila 'prospective makmum Ibrahim Adi Putra.'. May when I say it, no angel passes by and observes my words. Because, I still wish I could be that girl's future priest.

It's not usual for my cousin to call a woman, if not talk about something important.

Could A' Ibra be in a serious relationship with Kalila?

I disconnected the video call unilaterally. I know, Kalila might be surprised to see my attitude and hear my words. But I don't want to get dizzy. Disappointed, annoyed, and drowsiness have taken hold of my body.

I put the phone in silent mode. Then I decided to rest, after last night not to fall asleep.

I slept for a long time. Clearly, as soon as I opened my eyes and checked my phone, a message from Kalila, came into my phone.

When I opened the instant messaging application, it turned out Kalila had sent me many messages since this morning— after we made a video call.

The girl apologized for the error bag. Kalila apologized for not calling me last night.

If you knew Kalila, I don't actually blame you for not calling me if it's because you're forgotten, asleep or busy.

But I really can't tolerate, when you know, if you forget to call me because you're busy making out with other men.

I'm jealous of Kalila. I'm so jealous.

I reread the series of messages sent by the girl, until her last message, which she had just sent a minute ago.

Are you sad that I didn't return messages from you, Kalila? That's how I feel. I feel sad when you forget me.

But I can what? Love cannot be forced. No matter how disappointed, no matter how wounded my heart is, I cannot make you sad. I want you to always be happy. I want you to always smile, Kalila.

I decided to contact him. I know that Kalila must still be in the office. Today the girl has no teaching hours. Can send a message a minute ago, that means Kalila is not in a busy time.

“Bang Dimas is no longer angry with Lila?”

That sentence was the first to come out of his lips, when our video call was connected. I can only smile thinly.

That was the only word that came from his lips. When I looked at his face, my heart hurt. The girl looks gloomy. His face no longer shines.

Kalila's smile ended our video call. Kalila promised to call me tonight.
