A Muslim's faith in Allah can apparently be measured by his love for his other Muslim brothers. And one form of love is to pray for the good of others. The custom of praying for the good of others, either secretly or directly, has been widely practiced in the life of the Prophet and the previous Prophets.

Praying for others is not an ordinary activity, but has a virtue that is very useful for itself. As the hadith from Abu Darda’ Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu,

Prophet Muhammad SAW.bersabda

“The prayers of a Muslim to his brother who is not in his presence will be granted by Allah. On the head of the Muslim praying there was an angel assigned to guard it. Whenever the Muslim prayed for good for his brother, the angel who guarded him said, “Amin (may Allah grant) and for you the same thing.” (CHR. Muslim)

The Prophet taught us to pray for the good of others because we will also get the same good.

"No Muslim will pray for the good of his brother (as a Muslim) without his knowledge, but an angel will say "And for you the same good."(Muslim 4912)
