Adam Brown

Dave Hudson has a habit of waking up at dawn. And he did the same this morning. He sat down on the side of the bed and listened to the wind that was beginning to subside. Dave Hudson said

"The dining table is ready for breakfast."

Hudson said

"Maybe last night Brown prepared it "

They all went in and saw the cutlery and the flatware ready. Same with the plates and bowls. Even the cup and teapot were ready.

It was Rebbeca who first realized that the porcelain doll was missing one from the glass cabinet.

Rebbeca is hysterical

"Doll! The doll's missing one ."

There are only six porcelain dolls in the glass cabinet now.

They finally found Brown. He's in the barn. Apparently he was splitting wood. The little axe was still in his grasp. A bigger axe just lay next to him. There is a rust-like stain on the corner. It matches the wound on Brown's back.

Helen said

When he left Fraster said

Helen said in a nonchalant tone.

Dave Hudson said

Helen agreed

Mr. Fraster said in a whispering tone.

Dave Hudson said
