This morning the cloudy that overshadowed the city of Bandung felt like it was still at 6 am when it was 9.11 wib. Likewise with the cold that pierced the sum-sum making coffee that Kunto drank was very cold like drinking refrigerator water only. Sitting against the wall of the fence, Kunto noticed one of the loggers wearing a cowboy hat who was standing facing the Banyan tree performing his obligatory ritual before cutting down. Another seemed to be ready with his chainsaw waiting for his partner to finish with his ritual.
At first the man in his 60s who was standing looked ordinary but slowly his body stiffened, his hands clenched tightly beside him and his eyes stared intently at the Banyan tree. The next moment his body seemed to shake making his cowboy hat twitch backward along with his head looking up. His face flushed red, from the look of his face deep anger.
The person holding the chainsaw saw his friend's reaction also implying tension. It seemed that he understood what was going on, for not only this time was such a condition seen by him. Usually if the initial ritual as seen today means there is something on the tree to be cut down. A moment later the logger wearing the cowboy hat stopped his ritual and turned to his partner with a tense face.
“Why pakde?!” asked his partner who was holding the saw machine to look up in surprise.
“Jang, there are residents..” muttered the person called Pakde then crouched in front of Ujang.
“As usual Pakde, transferred.” Ujang.
“I've tried to say that but he does not want and will not move,” said Pakde.
“What are you waiting for?” ask Ujang curious.
For a moment Pakde was silent with his face slightly tensed, he hesitated to mention the figure inhabiting the Banyan tree.
“Genderuwo...” whispered Pakde.
“Hah?!” pekik Ujang jerked.
“Ssssttt...!” sergeant Pakde while glancing towards Kunto sat down.
“In a city like this there is still Genderuwo Pakde?” tanya Ujang astonished.
“Say he has lived in this place for a long time before here became this crowded city,” said Pakde.
“So how's Pakde?!” ujang timpal.
“Where ya Jang, if not done dear really big pay. But if it is done we will deal with Genderuwo. How do you think Jang?” asked Pakde while holding the nape of his neck in doubt.
“I again need money to cost my wife to give birth pakde,” muttered Ujang down.
Pakde seems confused, his work this time raises a dilemma. If you continue to force to cut down there will definitely be a fight but if you cancel and refuse this job pity also with Ujang who is in need of money.
Where Kunto sat, Kunto saw the two loggers sitting opposite each other silent for a while making Kunto astonished. Then Kunto stepped closer to the loggers.
“Punten, what's up sir?” tanya Kunto astonished.
Pakde and Ujang were a little shocked because they did not realize the arrival of Kunto who had stood one step behind them. The two loggers looked up with faces full of confusion.
“Why pack?” ask Kunto again because no one answered him to make him curious.
“A, a,anu mas, this tree has a waiter. How about mas?” Said Pakde at once asking for Kunto's opinion.
Kunto's face looked stunned to hear the lumberjack's description. Kunto is not very understanding with the word ‘pendu’ but what comes to mind there is a thought that is meant by the lumberjack is at least only a subtle creature like kuntilanak. It was also after remembering an Indonesian horror film that he had seen. Plus recalling Thunder's message that the tree was cut down prompted him to keep asking the loggers to continue their work.
“Nothing, cut it sir. Said the boss asking to be cut.” Kunto.
Kunto's words can slightly strengthen Pakde's heart and Ujang reduce his doubts. Then the two loggers stood up from their seats, saying; “Good mas.”
Kunto rushed to leave Pakde and Ujang who had stood ready to continue cutting down the banyan tree. Ujang in charge of cutting tree trunks directly turn on the saw machine. Ujang pull the machine life rope is strong, the first pull of the saw machine is not alive. Ujang back to do it, the second pull is also a saw machine is not also alive. Ujang stopped for a while and opened the fuel cap and checked that maybe the diesel ran out.
“Solar full, not usually strike,” muttered Ujang then try to turn it on again.
At the third pull of the sound of the chainsaw directly lit up causing a very noisy sound around it. Pakde also rewinded his position three steps to make room for Ujang to cut the tree. When Ujang will knock his saw eyes on the trunk of the banyan tree, Pakde hastily prevented it.
Apparently Ujang did not hear the sound of Pakde's exclamation because of the noise of the saw machine. He continued to bring the saw blade closer to the trunk of the banyan tree. Pakde rushed to prevent it by holding Ujang's right shoulder. Ujang looked surprised when his shoulder was held.
"What Pakde!" yelled Ujang competing with the sound of a saw machine.
"Stop, stop Jang! Oh, until I forget I haven't tied up the mine!" makde held his head.
"What?!!" yelling Ujang not heard.
Pakde directly looked for contact off to turn off the saw machine. Ujang just gawked at Pakde fumbling the contact button. After successfully pressing the off button, the sound around him immediately felt silent.
"Why Pakde?!" Ujang asked astonishment.
"Forgotten not tied up Jang mine, it will collapse to the next house" said Pakde after the sound of the engine was lost.
"Oh yes Pakde," said Ujang fisting his own forehead.
Ujang then stepped towards the hardware bag that had been slum is not clear color is visible on the terrace near the back door of the house. Ujang took out a mine as big as an adult's big toe rolled out of his pack, then returned to where Pakde was standing under the banyan tree.
While the weather in the cloudy sky is getting thicker covering the sky above Kunto's house. The atmosphere around the two lumberjacks seemed to dim. Even so there has not been a trickle-tetsan raindrops that fell.
"Let's Jang hunt the rain, the more difficult the work will be!" exclaiming Pakde turned towards Ujang who was taking the mine.
Ujang was seen coming in half-running running with a mine roll tucked in his right shoulder. His mind did not cross the irregularities that occurred, from the doubts of Pakde, the machine also broke down to not usually be able to forget to tie the tree to be cut down. Though tying trees with mines and tightening to a spacious corner so that when collapsed does not hit other people's buildings it is a mandatory ritual every time logging. All of that was not realized as a sign of danger that was in love with him.
"The word in the middle of the trunk aja Jang tapj a bit up, do not tie in the twigs or roots that dangle later will not be strong to hold the load when the collapse," said Pakde gave instructions.
"Muhun pakde" said the 30-year-old man.
Then Ujang immediately began to climb up the trunk of the Banyan tree. It is not difficult for him to climb it even if only holding on to the roots that dangle a lot to touch the ground. About 10 minutes Ujang finished tying his pond on the tree trunk according to instructions from Pakde, then Ujang moved down deftly.
When the distance of 2 inch will again reach the ground, the head of Ujang facing the tree trunk saw clearly poking a head right in front of his eyes. Ujang's eyes widened wide, he saw clearly, the head with dreadlocks covered part of the face and only showed one large red eye seeds were looking at him sharply. Ujang spontaneously released his hand but the consequences were fatal! Ujang's body slid rapidly down from the top of the banyan tree and slammed hard on the banyan roots that protruded upwards.
"Babeekkkhh...!" yelled Ujang from the top of the banyan tree.
Buuggh!
"Aduuuuhhh.." Ujang whimpered in pain while holding his back.
"Astagfirefull!" pekik Pakde then greeted Ujang's body lying groaning in pain.
From where Kunto was sitting, Kunto who had noticed him had jumped in shock to see one of the lumberjacks suddenly fall from the grass of Beringin leaves. Kunto immediately ran towards the two lumberjacks.
"Why sir?!" kunto shouted while running.
"Ujang fell in a mas!" sir with a panicked face.
"Astagfirullah al'azim!" Kunto immediately checked the condition of Ujang filled with panic.
"Aduuuuh..." Ujang unceasingly groaned.
Kunto and Pakde grew increasingly panicked to see the palm of Ujang holding his waist suddenly filled with blood on the sidelines of his fingers. Kunto immediately revealed a T-shirt on the back of Ujang, immediately the eyes of Kunto and Pakde were wide. On Ujang's back there was a wound caused by an elongated yanh filled with red liquid. His wounds looked gaping filled with blood rushing out. The wound was the same as the wound from a machete slash.
"Before I pick up the bike sir, we'll take it to the hospital!" exclaiming Kunto panicked then rushed to run to take his motorcycle.
