In Islam there is no Sharia that requires or regulates the existence of this 7-month anniversary. At the time of Prophet Muhammad shallalhu ‘alaihi wa sallam did not know the term peringtan 7 months and there is no order or advice about it.

This 7-monthly event was indeed started by the faithful of friends after the Prophet Muhammad and the guardians who at that time migrated to spread Islam in various regions with various customs as well as religion embraced by its people.

In honor of the customs that already exist in the area they unite or adjust between existing customs with prayers, prayers and letters in al-Qur’an.

So it depends on what intentions and goals we have to carry out the 7-monthly event. Whether as a necessity due to fear of unwanted things happening to the prospective baby and the mother who contains it or as one of the efforts to get a lot of prayer and as one form of taste gratitude is then shared with the surrounding community by holding a thanksgiving and entertaining them with food and drinks.

In Islam, the event of thanksgiving or remembrance is not mandatory. Events that are done with luxury and squandering money are also not allowed in Islam especially if the intention is as a show that he is able and rich to distribute a lot of food to the community.

But according to Madzhab Syafi’i, the event of thanksgiving by distributing banquets or dishes of food and drink to the invited guests is sunah as long as it is intended to show gratitude for the favors of Allah subhana hua ta’ala and as a form of sharing to brother or guests. In addition, the monthly 7th anniversary or ceremony that gives treats to invited guests also includes alms which is a noble matter.
