'If longing is only a word, but why is it so pronounced?'
A simple sentence but has such a deep meaning. Devan never knew if missing someone felt like it would be this bad? And this was the first time she felt a longing that made her chest very tight.
It didn't feel like time was passing so quickly, and this was Jesslyn's second year leaving Korea and the people who loved her. And during that time, no one knew of the girl's condition until now. He's alive, or he may have left. No one knows including Devan.
Various ways Devan has done in order to get information about Jesslyn, but none of his efforts have paid off.
Because it's all but nil, and since Jesslyn left for America that day. Devan is no longer the same Devan he used to be known for, he becomes colder and more introverted. He rarely spoke to either his Grandfather or his Brother. Devan spends more time and keeps himself busy in the hospital.
He would rarely go home, as he would only remember it to Jesslyn. And every time he misses her, it's just the tightness Devan gets.
Drett... Drett... Drett...
Devan's attention was slightly distracted by the shakes on his phone that indicated there was 1 incoming message. Devan put the pen down and then turned to the thin object. Devan knitted his brows looking at the foreign number on his phone screen that was brightly lit.
I was curious about the message. Devan immediately opened the message and read it.
'The weather's very sunny, don't you want to play out'
The man clucked his shoulders and ignored the message. "Bas on a prankster." Said slowly. Devan is back focused on his work. Than he takes care of unimportant things. He better get back to his job.
Devan got up from his chair and walked up to the glass wall behind his desk. His gaze was fixed on the night sky decorated by millions of beads.
The world seems to be spinning faster but the clock seems to stop. The flowers felt blooming but the leaves dried up and decided to fall. The sky emits a million stars, but the moon is seen to be an eclipse.
Desire of blood that rebelled violently, heart beat that chases selfishly also the details of longing as if crazy and become one. Yeah, homesickness. Devan never knew if he would be left by a single word called 'Hindu!!'
Is there anything more stifling than feeling unexpressed to leave an impassioned trail of longing? I don't know, Devan doesn't know.
Then is there anything more draining than the heart he has stolen and returned in the form of the debris of sorrow? And is there anything more hurtful than the beautiful hope he offers and then leaves without news and certainty?
Devan smiled wryly, somehow good destiny never sided with him? His heart was always broken by circumstances, twice he lost someone precious in his life. Although in a different way.
"What are you daydreaming about?" reprimand someone who is now walking towards Devan. The man turned his head and stared flatly at the person who approached him.
"You miss him?"
Sontak Devan pondered and looked at that person with the same gaze. But he did not intend to reply or respond to his words. And of course Devan already knew who 'She' was meant by him.
"What are you doing here? Isn't this still hours of work?" instead of answering the man's question, Devan asked back.
"I came to accompany your sister-in-law to check her content. He whines so I can accompany him. So I'm here to see you. Two days you're not home, Devan. So I thought you were dead because you missed her too much." Said that person who is none other than and not is Kris.
"What does this have to do with him? Don't say anything silly, Chris. You better get out now, I'm busy and you better not bother me!!"
Kris pursed his lips and looked at Devan in annoyance. Before Jesslyn left, Devan was already a pain in the ass. And now he was even more annoying after the girl left his side. Jesslyn's existence did bring a lot of changes to Devan.
Speaking of Kris. Chris is married and wants to be a father. He married his secretary, Tiffany, starting from lunch together and then their relationship continued to the marriage stage.
Tiffany is pregnant with the fruits of their love, and doctors say Tiffany is pregnant with twins. Tiffany is pregnant with three babies at once. It is truly a gift from God.
Happiness does not only come to Krish. But Grandpa Zhang too. His long-standing love with Maya's grandmother is now reconnected. They are married and live together, only Devan is the only one who does not feel happiness. And Devan always wished there was a miracle for him.
"Dev, go home and don't over-excite yourself with work. Think about your health, too, I know you're doing all this to keep her from thinking about it. But still you have to think about your situation as well." Kris's Advice. He really can't bear to see Devan's current condition.
"I know you don't have to worry about me. Tonight I was planning to go home" he said flatly.
"Well, I'll wait for you at home. I came home first, maybe your sister-in-law is looking for me." said Kris and replied to a nod by Devan.
"Be careful, don't speed. Remember, your wife is pregnant."
"Yes-yes, I know. Hurry home," Kris patted Devan on the shoulder and left. Tiffany can grumble because of her sudden disappearance. And Kris didn't want to make the woman confused looking for him.
