Cthulhu Gonfalons

Cthulhu Gonfalons
Chapter 2

As a predator, what amazes him the most?

Sui Xiong believed that the answer to this question was that he could defeat anyone in the world, but his legs were too short to chase after his prey, which was actually a problem he was facing right now.

He tried his best to run in the water, hoping to catch up to the big fish in front of him, but no matter how hard he tried, the distance between him and the fish kept increasing, and the distance between him continued to increase, which soon made him desperate. Therefore, he had no choice but to give up. He stopped running while breathing.

Not too long before, while hunting for food, he managed to catch and eat the souls of more than ten small fish, but did not manage to catch a single large fish. He could not name these fish, but it was clear that the larger they were, the more agile they became. As for the small, stupid ones, they did not even notice when he was right next to them, so he could capture them without much effort, extracting and then eating their souls. But the big one was a different story; they could instantly sense his existence, as well as how dangerous he was, so every time he tried to approach one, it would quickly swim away, leaving him far behind.

Of course, he tried to approach his target calmly, but it was useless. It seemed like he was a firefly at night, too obvious to hide himself enough. He also tried to chase his prey, but he was too slow.

“Waste of time only!” He told himself when he failed to catch his prey again. “It didn't work, didn't work at all!” Therefore, he had no choice but to double his efforts on that stupid little fish.

Although the soul of a small fish was not much, eating enough of them would probably be fine, but he needed to do it if he wanted to survive. Naturally, does not every creature, no matter what kind of carnivore, always attack the old, fragile, sick or deformed at all times? Sui Xiong wanted to convince herself of this idea, but it comforted her a little.

Carnivores in nature may not be as smart or as sentimental as they are. They do not have the same combat effectiveness (CE) to beat everything else in their path; their lives are a simple cycle of hunting and resting, and they have no time to feel sorry when they see flowers falling from trees in spring or withered trees in autumn.

Standing among the dead fish, which were floating around him in chaos, Sui Xiong sighed melancholy. “The balance of the ecosystem will be destroyed if I always hunt small fish!”

A few hours later, he realized he was wrong when he saw a flock of fish so large that he could not see the end of it. Although he was a small body type predator, when compared to the giant school, he could never destroy the balance of the entire ecosystem regardless of how many fish he ate.

In the distance, there was a giant whale with unicorn horns roaring. The amount of food he ate was enough to last at least half a year. If it hasn't destroyed the ecosystem, it certainly won't.

Sui Xiong suddenly felt he was in great danger, as if he was stung by a thorn, or more specifically, as if the tip of a needle was touching his eyeball, and one small movement would make him blind. Where did this danger come from?

Sui Xiong looked around, trying to find the answer, until he saw the danger right in front of him. Despite all the delicious fish just under the eyes of the whale, he somehow ignored this potential feast, pushed them aside with his huge body, and swam straight towards him.

“Sh * t!” He cursed, turned around and immediately fled.

As the saying goes “someone will never be able to escape retaliation for his mistake”. Before, he was a predator; now he was prey.

Looking at the giant whale, he knew it was impossible for him to fight. There is only one option, and it is executed. But he immediately stopped running.

With his short legs, how could he run away from this extremely fast whale?

Of course not! That's absolutely impossible! Then what should he do? Facing this life and death situation, Sui Xiong thought very hard.

Question: if you are alone in the wilderness and you have no vehicles or weapons, and a wild beast is running towards you and planning to make you dinner, what are you going to do?

I'm waiting for your answer online, fast, fast.

Well, this is nonsense, because he obviously can't connect to the internet, so no matter how long he waits, he will never get an answer to that question. However, the whale was the only thing he could possibly wait for, and it didn't take long to catch up.

All sorts of practical and impractical ideas flashed through his mind. Sui Xiong looked around as if he was crazy, trying to find a way to survive. Unfortunately, his mind was empty. If only he could go deeper, then he could try to hide in the rock crevice on the bottom of the sea, where he would be safe. No matter how powerful, the whale would never be able to overturn the entire seabed. But Sui Xiong could still dive up to two meters and no further.

Or if he could fly high into the sky, then he could escape the fast-moving whale. He could even make a funny face at her, laughing at her incompetence. But he also cannot fly.

Though, previously he had already tried to fly but could only jump and temporarily float above the sea. Even if his soul did not weigh, he could only reach a maximum height of two meters. If he were on Earth, a vertical leap standing two meters would definitely be a world record. No one can beat him in the Olympic competition, and he will become a legend.

However, in his current predicament, the height of his two-meter leap basically meant nothing. Frankly, it was not even worth mentioning, because when the whale opened its mouth, the distance between its upper and lower jaws would be more than five meters.

“Is this the end? If I am eaten by a whale, will I be moved back to my house? ”As the pope got closer and closer, Sui Xiong became too nervous to stop talking nonsense.

Maybe ... it would work if .. Instantly, Sui Xiong tried as much as possible to shrink himself into a ball, running into a jellyfish. Everything around him began to tremble, and after a while, the shaking stopped, and everything became silent again. Blue skies, emerald green sea water, small portions of food; all looked the same.

He had no time to think about what had just happened, so he ate the soul of a jellyfish. Guided by the memory of the jellyfish, she struggles to swim. He swam very ungrateful. If there was a clown competition in the jellyfish world, he would win a gold medal for the most graceful swimmer.

After a while, not far from him, the water started to rumble. A huge body swirled around the water, as if searching for something. It seemed to be unable to find what it wanted, so it returned to the water.

He guessed right! The pope cannot find it when he has the body of a jellyfish and no longer becomes a disembodied soul.

When the whale sank and disappeared, Sui Xiong felt relieved, but not completely. He struggled to move his tentacles, heading in the opposite direction of the whale.

He did not swim too fast, but he also did not dare to stop, even for a moment.

He continued to swim without knowing how much time had passed.

Seeing the sky gradually darken, he finally felt somewhat calm. It was dark, the seabirds had returned to their nests, and the fish had slept as well. Does this mean he's safe now? He wasn't sure; he had never studied marine biology before, so maybe this was just a baseless conjecture. However, for him, the night was a good time, especially since in every fairy tale, ghosts loved the night.

Floating in the sea, he rested for a while. Then he thought of leaving the body of the jellyfish because it was too fragile to swim quickly. If he was going to have something, that something should at least be a big fish. But he soon discovered that there was a problem, a very big problem — he could not leave the body of a jellyfish!

Actually, he couldn't leave it completely. His thin and fragile body, which previously seemed to be shattered into pieces by a single wave, had now become extremely strong. No matter how hard he tried to pull away from it, he was still stuck hopelessly inside the jellyfish body. Instead, he would be pulled back into it whenever he stopped trying to escape, and he would become more like a jellyfish.

He tried for a long time, but it was in vain. Still, he kept trying until the moon reached the middle of the sky. “I'm cursed. I became a jellyfish, ”he sighed while looking up at the sky, accepting his cruel new reality.

Before being transferred here, he had read a story about the Eight Fairies. Among these elves, there was one called Li Tieguai. Li once had a beggar body, and has since remained a weak beggar.

While reading, he laughed at Li for his stupidity. He thought that if he had the chance to have something, if not the emperor, he would at least choose a boulder on Mt. Huaguo litte.

However, it now turns out that he has a jellyfish, thus becoming a creature trapped near the bottom of the food chain. It really sucks!

After feeling sorry for herself for a while, Sui Xiong immediately got back up, as she started to get hungry. Sighing and complaining will not help him; now the most important thing to do is to look for food.

“What do jellyfish eat?” Ask yourself. When he really did not know what the answer was, he decided to forage.

What do jellyfish eat? I learned nothing about this! Could it be a fish? Looking at his fragile body and thin tentacles, he shook his head. What fish !? He himself was eaten by fish.

The plankton? Looking around anxiously, he could not find a single plankton to eat.

As hunger increases and grows, so does anxiety. What if he can't find food? He'll starve to death. If that happened, would he be able to completely leave the body of the jellyfish? Maybe ... she was just daydreaming .. Sui Xiong thought of this and became very upset.

Right at that moment, he suddenly felt shocked, as if something was staring at him. Although it was not as strong as when he had been targeted by the pope before, he still felt extremely uncomfortable. It was like a small stone that slipped into his shoes and injured his feet every time he stepped.

Looking down, he saw a flock of fish shredding and eating every jellyfish in the sea one by one, like a gust of autumn wind sweeping away the fallen leaves.

These fish are not large — the largest are not larger than — palm trees but they are quite ferocious.

Swimming in a patch of moonlight, they opened their mouths. Their white teeth reflected the moonlight, which made Sui Xiong feel cold and worried.

Clearly, they are the natural enemies of jellyfish.

Sui Xiong was surprised, but he immediately calmed down. It was impossible for him to defeat a giant whale, but did that mean he would also be defeated by a flock of small fish? Who knows who will be eaten!
