Prambodo dropped his hat because he was busy holding on to a pole. Now his bald innocent head was looking sweaty.
Mayasa looked at the boss whom he greatly respected with a worried look.
"I'm okay, May. Fortunately missed it. We should go and get off. We're on the 3rd floor. It looks like this building is not safe" said Prambodo while staring at the pale Gunadi.
Gunadi knows this is the end of his career. Mayasa looked at him sharply and full of anger.
The project workers who were busy lazing seemed to run down from the other side of the stairs. Mayasa grew furious.
"Exit them all especially Gunadi if I have asked the office for an audit!" Mayasa nodded with rage.
Gunadi lowered his head then with lightning speed he fled through the half-finished stairs that they had used to climb.
Brug! Brug! Brug!
Gunadi's sound made the stairs vibrate and brughhhh...
The ladder collapsed and Gunadi fell. His feet were hit by rubble.
Mayasa screaming. Prambodo has already squeezed his face. He was surprised, angry because he felt cheated, and on the other hand wanted to remain calm to make Mayasa not panic.
"Quiet May! We can get down from the stairs over there, where the builders came down and..."
BRUG!
The floor shook and Mayasa screamed again. The building suddenly shook.
Mayasa glanced down and saw the other workers who were trying to help Gunadi from the rubble get out of the way for fear of being knocked down.
"Request help. Emergency contact phone. We're stuck here with one floor above worrying about his condition. There is no down access either. Hurry along!" Prambodo ordered a returning employee to take care of Gunadi.
The officer nodded and immediately took his phone.
"Later the phone! Please help me first! My leg was hit by rubble!" Gunadi screamed in pain.
"Crazy for you, Gun! We need help too!" Mayasa shouted in annoyance then suddenly a rumbling sound made a fragment of the roof over the place where Prambodo stood.
Mayasa immediately pulled the boss quickly but unfortunately a little late.
Mayasa was crying with the cracked floor she was peeping on. Dust everywhere. Tight chest.
"Sir, hold my hand! Look for the footing of the other ruins under your feet!" Mayasa cried. His hair was full of dust and his hands started shaking. One life and his own life are at stake.
Mayasa was crying from panic. He's afraid of death. The faces of her three children and her elderly mother-in-law. He crouched down to hold Prambodo's hand which depended on him. His eyes were wet and twitching but he was still trying to look around for help.
"Don't cry, May! We'll be safe. Yes, I'll hold your hand. Meet me! Feel my hands are not papa! I will not fall. I found a foothold!" Prambodo. The situation is no less chaotic as well. Dust stuck to his torn and bleeding scalp.
"No, Sir! I will not let go. Below there are still two more floors and I can see very steeply from here. If your footing collapses, you will fall!" Mayasa was still crying.
"Hello? Hello?" A voice from the phone sounded.
Mayasa immediately stopped her crying and looked downwards. The employee's phone was connected to an emergency number. Unfortunately the man was bleeding from the rubble.
"Hello? The gun! Gunadi's? Can you get his phone? GUNS!" Mayasa yells.
Gunadi. As the dust of the rubble slowly drifted aside, Prambodo and Mayasa could see Gunadi injured in the abdomen and head while his legs were still stuck in the rubble of the stairs.
"Can! Huh hello? We need help. Construction site on Jalan Banda collapsed. Building B! I don't know how many officers were injured. Has anyone else survived yet to report? You need help immediately! Uhuk uhuk!"
Mayasa tried to peek down and saw Gunadi lying helplessly. He was silent and did not answer again. The phone lit up uselessly in his injured hand.
"GUN! GUNADIS!" Mayasa was screaming hysterically.
"Still breathe, May. He's probably just passed out." Prambodo.
Mayasa cried again. "Yes! Gunadi has to live to account for all this. We shouldn't have come here, sir. We shouldn't have come here!" Mayasa was crying.
Gunadi just shut up. His hand still held Mayasa's hand. He felt the footing on his feet slowly shift, but he did not want to say because he was afraid that Mayasa would panic.
"Don't cry, May. We'll be safe. The employee below must have seen this accident and called Arik. He'll send help. The emergency contact has responded, right? Don't cry." Prambodo tried to calm down when he himself was actually not calm.
"I'm afraid to die, sir! How are my kids?" Mayasa is getting more dramatic.
Prambodo was silent but his head immediately wandered. Yes, he clearly remembered Cassandra.
"Cassandra is with Pras. I could take my phone with one hand and call her but I was afraid she was panicking. I don't want to make him worry..." Prambodo said softly.
Mayasa was silent. Her crying turned into silence.
"I don't call the kids either. They must be the same as Mas Rendi. I'm afraid they're worried too. We don't know whether our sir will survive or not? If there's any aftershocks and this building collapses completely, we'll die here." Mayasa was crying again.
Prambodo was silent again. He did not want to calm Mayasa with false hopes of survival. Too much bullshit to say that in such an important situation.
Prambodo is ready to die because of the final stage of cancer. But when death is on the edge like this, it still feels terrible for him.
"Leo, Lena, Luna... I'm afraid I won't see you again after this..."
Prambodo held back his cries hearing Mayasa's desperate howls. He also wanted to use the name Cassandra. He was afraid that he would never see his beloved daughter again...
"Cassandra, what are you doing? Do you like seeing the surprise house that Papa designed for you? Was Pras driving carefully?" Prambodo whispered in his heart with nestapa...
Will he survive?
SERIATE...
