The day the six of them were waiting for, had finally arrived. Sunday which coincides with a school holiday for the next 2 weeks seems to be a prefix for a semester holiday that has never been imagined before.
Now they were all ready and waiting for the invitation as promised in the letter at a small stop near the house of Arashya according to the order also written there. For about 15 minutes they waited, finally a black car stopped right in front of the six of them.
They were all astonished when they saw the car and a middle-aged man descending approached them.
“Wow! I'm not expecting that we will be picked up using a limousine,” muttered Jean nudged Arashya who was standing next to him who was carrying a backpack.
“Gue is the same, Brother. Means he is not a class of ordinary people,” said Arashya approached Eric because the man approached him.
The man stared at them one by one intensely. Then he bowed for a moment saluting.
“Good morning, Young Master Pratama,” said with a smile that was glimpsed on the face. However, instead of replying to the greeting, Arashya instead looked at him with a flat expression.
“Good morning, Sir. Are you the one who picked us up according to this letter and ticket?” eric asked while taking out the envelope they found yesterday.
“True. You are?” The man raised both eyebrows somewhat hesitant to mention Eric by name.
Jevan who saw that let out a long sigh, “my Jevan Devandra. The continuation must be you already know, sir,” as it makes the man nod.
“Good. Eric Devandra, Jevan Devandra, Narendra Nasution, Arashya Pratama, Yohantha Sagara, and.” The man pointed at each of them while mentioning the name, but his finger came to a halt right in front of Jean.
“Jeandra Samudra, just call me Jean,” he said slowly which again made the man nod his head.
“Ah yes, please you guys get in the car. We will leave now because there is already someone waiting for you.” Invite the man directly asserted by the six.
Without further ado, they ended up getting into the car. The man also immediately drove his car at a normal speed.
On the way, only silence covered them there. No one wants to open their voice first. They all focused with their own thoughts and observed the man earlier as a driver with an intimidating look.
Perhaps aware of their gazes, the man smiled without turning his head. “I'm not who you think I am, I'm just a messenger asked to pick you up. And the rest is done,” he said opening the topic of conversation.
“Is there a surveillance camera here? Or voice recorder and others?” narendra asked with a sharp look at the driver who could be seen from the front view of the car.
The man laughed crisply at Narendra's question. “This is safe,” he said slowly.
“You know who asked you to pick us up? And do you know who we are?” asked Arashya who had just opened her voice after a long moment of silence.
The man's smile grew more and more on his face when he heard Arashya ask.
“Of course. Who does not know you, Young Master Pratama? The son of a government official who served in the foreign ministry, Mr. Algendra Pratama,” replied the man.
“For questions about who is the person who asked me to do it, I am not sure. Since we had never met before,” replied the man who now displayed his grim face.
“If you have never met, why would you want to do the request?” yohan asked in surprise.
“On a forced basis,” replied the man softly, “my son was kidnapped and held captive by someone somewhere cursed he said. Because of that incident, terror began to come to me and my wife.Every day there will be some threat messages coming in. Because I don't want my child to be in danger, so I have to do this,” he explained which made the six teenagers nod.
“Don't worry about that, Sir. But where is your child held? And why is it called a cursed place?” asked the curious Jevan from earlier.
“That place is the place you will visit after this. I'm only in charge of getting you safely there.”
“What makes that place called damned?” tanga Jean interrupted their conversation.
“They believe that if anyone enters the place, then they will never be able to return safely,” the man said again.
“Haha.. Isn't that just a superstition that is still believed today? That place is an ancient city, right? Say it like a remote village. Isn't that right, Mister?” asked Eric who was completely inedible by the human boast called superstition.
“Maybe superstition, but it's reality that happens. You're right, the place resembles a remote village. The inhabitants are just like us, and also somewhat dangerous.” Said the man as if giving a warning just in case.
“Is something going to happen there that requires us all to be picked up and taken to that place?” Narendra asked while upholding his sitting position.
“Perhaps a ritual such as a fireworks celebration can be seen there, and maybe that's why you are invited to come.” The man focused on the street in front of him, turning the steering wheel and turning to the right.
After hearing the answer from the man, everything fell silent and silence broke out between them all. They thought about how it could be if they would end up having the same fate as this boy? What will the kidnapper do? And was the boy held captive with Marka? Many questions suddenly popped up and everything seemed to make sense.
In that silence, Eric sighed tiredly. “How much longer will we be until?” tanyakanya.
The man who was their driver now glanced briefly at the watch he was wearing on his left wrist.
“About 1 hour away,” reply man is short.
Eric nodded and he immediately turned to look at his friends one by one. “You just enjoy this trip. Come on it's just a game and we'll get a surprise,” said Eric and he was looking for a comfortable position to rest.
Arashya and Jean who heard that ended up looking at each other. Jean nudged Arashya's arm which made the owner of the arm look at Jean with a sharp look.
“Gue feels that the real psychopath is Eric, not you or me,” whispered to Arashya.
The boy nodded approvingly, “sometimes I also think so, Kak.”
They all chose to be quiet and enjoy the ride quietly while thinking about some of the possibilities that would happen later when they arrived at the cursed place mentioned earlier.
