Mak Bolt 26: First Ambush

For one and a half days, the Demon Waves Pirates were working seriously to prepare themselves for the attack of the royal forces.

Ronggo Palung has placed its mainstay people on three access roads leading to the capital city of Balongan.

When the sun was leaning towards the west, the three First Troops from Singayam Kingdom were already approaching Balongan Capital through a different path.

To get into the capital city of Balongan, there are three public roads that can be passed, namely the north road, the river side road and the road that passes through Kademangan Dulangwesi. The Singayam Kingdom army decided to pass through all three of them.

“Wik wik wik wik! Wik wik wik wik wik!”

Suddenly there was the sound of a shrill cry of danger to the Demon Waves Pirates on the north road.

The voice also made Arya Mungkara raise his hand to signal a stop to his troops.

“Stop!” shouted Bandeng Prakas as a representative of Arya Mungkara.

Three hundred foot soldiers and fifty horsemen immediately stopped.

“What sound is it?” ask Arya Mungkara.

“It's like a sound sign. We have to be careful, beware of any ambush,” Bandeng Prakas said.

“Send two horsemen first to ensure road safety in front!” the Arya Mungkara's.

Bandeng Prakas then ordered two horsemen to advance. Without feeling any trepidation, the two horsemen immediately pounded his horse. The two horses ran forward leaving his army.

Meanwhile, in his hiding place, there were three pirate members who gave each other codes. The three of them hid in three different spots, but could see each other. Two of them are Sea Grasshopper and Wet Centipede.

Another member was named Colong Larik, a thin man armed with metal like plates on both sides of his waist.

Of the three pirates, the Wet centipede took the lead.

Wet centipedes and Colong Larik hide on top of different large trees and cross paths. While the Sea Grasshopper hid behind the thickets, right on the side of the road.

The Wet Centipede signals finger movements to the Colong Larik and Sea Grasshopper. The sign informed the prohibition of action and let the two horses pass.

Two mounted soldiers were left to pass without getting attacked. While Arya Mungkara chose to hold back the pace of his troops first.

Arya Mungkara and Bandeng Prakas pay attention to the area on the right and left side of the road. They looked up at the trees growing, but they saw nothing suspicious.

After waiting, the two horsemen finally returned home.

“Report, Head! Up to about a hundred spears ahead, safe!” report the horseman to Arya Mungkara.

Arya Mungkara then gave a sign to his troops.

“Majuu!” shouted Bandeng Prakas.

The troops again moved forward at pedestrian speed.

Meanwhile, the Wet Centipede signaled to his two colleagues to get ready.

When Arya Mungkara and his troops passed right in front of the thicket, where the Sea Grasshopper went down without a sound “wik wik”, the Wet Centipede signaled the thin woman armed with two swords.

Sreth!

Set set set …!

After the mark, the Sea Grasshopper suddenly pulled a piece of rope from some string thread around it.

The sound of the rope was heard by Arya Mungkara and Bandeng Prakas as well as the soldiers. They were shocked and instantly on standby. However, not to mention that their shock could be controlled, dozens of arrows sprung up from within the thickets, attacking Arya Mungkara and her troops from the side.

“Akh! Akhs! Akh ..!” the screams of the soldiers whose limbs were pierced by arrows.

A number of soldiers immediately collided. Some are just injured and some are immediately killed by being exposed to vital parts, such as the neck and heart.

Arya Mungkara and Bandeng Prakas had to jump into the air from the back of her horse, in order to avoid the sudden attack.

Sreth! Sreth!

Set set set …!

The Sea Grasshopper that had not yet appeared, again pulled two strings that became the key to the weapon hidden behind the bush.

Because of the two ropes pulled by the Sea Grasshopper, the number of arrows shot from within the bush doubled.

However, the number of soldiers who were hit was even less, because they were ready and sheltered using shields. The arrows were set in shields made of thick wood.

The Wet Centipede quickly signaled Colong Larik which was on top of a tree, but its position was opposite that of the Sea Grasshopper.

Sreth!

Set set set …!

“Akh! Akhs! Akh ..!”

Colong Larik pulls a long rope neatly outstretched down and sinks inside the thicket.

After that, from other shrubs there was rain of arrows. This time it was more targeting the rearguard and the cavalry.

A number of soldiers had to be knocked down again. A number of horses that were hit by arrows turned wild, further disorganizing the army. There were even horses running wildly bumping into other warriors.

“Position circle hold!” arya Mungkara shouted quickly after seeing the attack coming from two directions side of the road. However, they had not seen the existence of the enemy.

“Circle survive!” shouted the three warrior leaders quickly.

The three groups of pedestrian troops quickly moved to form three large circle formations. The soldiers set the horses with shields into a protective wall. Inside, there were an army of arrows and the warrior leaders, including Arya Mungkara and Bandeng Prakas taking refuge inside the circle of formations.

The Sea Grasshopper again pulled the last two strings. A similar rain of arrows appeared again from within the thicket. But this time, the rain of arrows reaped little results, only a few arrows hit the foot of the soldier or managed to get into the circle through the top. Arrows are more fixed in the shield field.

“Arrow!” shouted Arya Mungkara while pointing towards the thickets that were the source of the attack.

“Arrow!” shouted Bandeng Prakas also in another circle.

Set set set …!

So the arrow soldiers immediately released a rain of arrows at the target of the bush, even though they did not see the existence of any enemies.

Of the dozens of arrows that rained down on the thickets where the Sea Grasshopper hid, it turned out that there was one arrow that was right to attack the Sea Grasshopper.

The tech!

The Sea Grasshopper swiftly deflected using one of his swords. It made his movements visible to Arya Mungkara.

“There!” peekik Arya Mungkara then quickly jumped into the air to get the right aiming position.

The set!

Arya Mungkara who is an archery expert releases her arrows, right to the point she sees the movements of the Sea Grasshopper dressed in purple.

“Akk!” screeched the Sea Grasshopper with its body rolling to the side.

Arya Mungkara shot too fast and had pierced the woman's side of the stomach.

Nevertheless, Sea Grasshoppers could instantly jump flying like locusts.

The body of the Sea Grasshopper flew across above the road, above the heads of the soldiers. However, as it flashed like that, the Death Grasshopper flashed a ball of red light from his hand, right into the circle of formation.

No doubt, the red ball of light exploded the ground amidst the circle of soldiers that contained dozens of people. Dozens of soldiers who crowded in a circle clashed. Even Arya Mungkara bounced, but she was only lightly injured because there was a power fortress inside that protected her.

Meanwhile, several soldiers were killed with limbs destroyed, and many more suffered injuries.

“Akh! Akhs! Akh ..!” the screams of the soldiers crammed into each other.

“Arrow!” shouted Bandeng Prakas in another formation, while pointing towards the movement of the Sea Grasshopper.
