Chapter 29

After a long conversation with Arsen, Dioneel returned home because Daffa had sent him a message.

Dioneel entered the company building with steady steps, dressed neatly in a very cool style. He had been feeling uneasy since there was unexpected news from his personal assistant, Daffa. He looked for Daffa sitting at the reception desk typing quickly on his laptop.

“Boss, you finally came. There's some pretty shocking news."

Dioneel frowned. "What news?"

"Mr Davin came here. He asked about you, and I told him that Boss was coming soon."

Dioneel was surprised. "Davin, dad? What's he doing here?"

"Mr Davin wants to meet you. It seems like there's something you want to talk directly about."

Dioneel scratched his unkempt head. "It's really surprising. I didn't think he'd come to the company."

"What can I do now, Boss?" daffa asked as he looked at Dioneel's agitated face in front of him.

Dioneel thought for a moment, he then gulped down a bottle of mineral water to the point of being unresponsive.

"I'll take him to the meeting room to talk. I wonder what my father wants to say."

"Alright Boss, I'll prepare a meeting room for you and inform the security and receptionist of Davin's arrival."

"Thanks Daffa. I'll see him now."

Dioneel walked towards the meeting room with a thumping heart. The sudden arrival of his father caused a sense of curiosity and worry within him. He entered the room and saw Davin sitting leisurely in one of the chairs.

Dioneel stepped into the room. "Dad, what's going on? What do you want to talk about?"

Davin smiled meaningfully. "Dioneel, son. I came here because there's something important I want to tell you."

"What is that, Dad? I'm curious."

"You've worked at this company for a number of years and I'm very proud of your success. I want to give you more support in your career."

Dioneel looked confused. "I mean Dad?"

"I want you to take over all the companies and get married. I want you to be a real grown man."

Dioneel was surprised. "Dad, don't make jokes!” Dioneel became annoyed.

"I've been thinking about this for a long time, Dioneel. We have even prepared everything, a wife who will be very supportive of you of course,” Davin said excitedly.

Dioneel stood upright in the middle of the room, his face filled with tension and disapproval. His eyes looked straight at his father, Davin, who was sitting quietly in the soft seat opposite him. The atmosphere of the room was tense, filled with an uncomfortable silence.

"All right, Father," said Dioneel in a firm and courageous voice. "I refuse this match!"

"Family good?" repeat Dioneel with a cynical tone. “What family interests? Family kindness cannot be built on forced matchmaking and the wishes of others!"

Davin looked at his son gently, trying to explain the reason behind the matchmaking. "You must understand, Dioneel, that as the family leader, my responsibility is to ensure the sustainability and success of our family. This matchmaking is part of a plan to secure our future financially and socially."

Dioneel looked at his father with angry eyes. "But Dad, what does sustainability and success mean if we have to live in emptiness and unhappiness? What does wealth and social status mean if we have to sacrifice true love and happiness?"

Davin paused for a moment, pondering over his son's words. He realized that Dioneel would not be as easy to set up as he had hoped. Finally, Davin took a deep breath before saying, "Dioneel, I understand how you feel. But this life does not always go our way. Sometimes we have to make tough decisions for the good of the long term."

Dioneel looked at his father sharply, but there was a hint of doubt in his eyes. "Are you really sure this is the right decision?"

Davin clenched his hands and looked at Dioneel with courage. "Yes, of course, I'm sure that this is the best decision for our family. There are commitments and responsibilities that we must fulfill."

Hearing those words, it was Dioneel who was both annoyed and disappointed. With steady steps, Dioneel stepped closer towards his father, and then stopped before him. He locked his gaze sharply into Davin's eyes, showing a strong determination.

"Dad, I'm old enough to make decisions in my own life" Dioneel said firmly. "I want to free myself to find the future wife I love, without any interference."

Davin was surprised to hear the request. His facial expression turned into a mixture of disappointment and disbelief. "Dioneel, you know that I only want the best for you" Davin said in a trembling voice. "I'm afraid you'll make the wrong decision."

Dioneel smiled, trying to calm his father down. "Dad, I appreciate your care and concern, but I need to find my own way of life" Dioneel said gently. "I knew that I might make mistakes along the way, but that was part of growth and learning."

Davin clasped his hands tightly, trying to hold back his worries. "Are you absolutely sure of this decision, Dioneel?”

Dioneel exhaled in annoyance and got up from his chair in the meeting room. His facial expression reflected a deep sense of frustration. His voice sounded resolute as he decided to leave Davin alone.

"Alright, Dad! I can't continue this meeting. Let's talk about it later."

Davin, surprised by Dioneel's reaction, tries to understand the situation. He felt a little surprised and confused because he did not expect Dioneel to be so angry.

"Wait a minute, Dioneel. Are you really mad? Is something wrong?"

Dioneel twisted his body and looked at Davin sharply, his eyes filled with disappointment and dissatisfaction.

"Am I angry? Dad, what are you asking? You're totally unconscious, aren't you? All this time, I felt like I had never heard a single word in my own home. You guys keep ignoring my opinion and making up your mind without asking for my input! And now, you want me to marry by your choice?"

Davin tries to calm Dioneel down, trying to understand his feelings.

"I'm sorry, Dioneel. I don't mean to ignore your opinion. Maybe I was too rushed and forgot to involve you in the decision-making process."

Dioneel shook his head furiously.

"It's not a matter of involving me in decision-making, Dad. It's about respect."

Davin bit his lip, feeling regret for causing Dioneel to feel this way.

"Father is very sorry, Dioneel.”

Dioneel eased his anger a little, but disappointment still emanated from his eyes.
